§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CD2366G2-I is

Lens: 2.8mm.

The DS-2CD2366G2-I is the no-audio variant of Hikvision's 6MP AcuSense turret — the camera in our 2, 4 and 8 camera Hikvision kits.

AcuSense classification runs on the camera itself: events are filtered to human and vehicle targets before they reach your phone, and line crossing, intrusion and region entry/exit zones each trigger only on the target types you pick.

The imaging package is the G2 standard: a 1/2.4" sensor with DarkFighter processing rated 0.003 lux in colour, 30 metres of smart infrared that won't white out close objects, and 120dB true WDR for doorways and driveways shot against the sun.

The 2.8mm lens covers 105.1° and identifies faces to about 7.9 metres.

What it deliberately leaves out is the microphone — the right call for strata schemes, shared driveways and workplaces where audio recording raises consent issues.

If you do want audio, the -IU version adds a built-in mic for much the same money.

PoE-powered (6.5W max), metal IP67 housing, rated -30°C to +60°C.

What the DS-2CD2366G2-I features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

6MP Ultra HD

6MP captures around three times the detail of 1080p. Plenty of resolution to zoom into a face or number plate part-way down the driveway and still read it clearly.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

Illustrative — simulated for demonstration

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD2366G2-I

Alerts that are worth opening

AcuSense classifies humans and vehicles on the camera itself, so the 2am notification is a person in your driveway — not a possum, headlights or rain.

The audio-free option

Strata bylaws, shared accessways and workplace consent rules often make audio recording more trouble than it's worth — this variant simply doesn't have a mic to argue about.

G2 imaging without the premium

The same 0.003 lux DarkFighter sensor, 30m smart IR and 120dB WDR as the mic'd versions — identification-grade 6MP to 7.9 metres.

Want audio after all?

Honest guidance: the -IU adds a built-in mic for much the same money, and the -ISU/SL adds a strobe, audible warnings and two-way talk — this -I is the pick only when no-audio is the point.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Strata and apartment common areas

Carparks, bin rooms and lobbies where audio recording needs every resident's consent — video-only sidesteps the issue entirely.

Workplaces and staff areas

Warehouses and back-of-house zones where unions and privacy policies draw the line at audio — AcuSense still flags people and vehicles after hours.

Shared driveways

Cover your own boundary without recording the neighbours' conversations — line crossing zones trigger on entry, not on passing chatter.

Standard home perimeters

Entry, driveway, backyard and side path — the kit camera of our Hikvision range doing exactly what the kits do, one camera at a time.

What's in the Box

1. Hikvision DS-2CD2366G2-I Camera × 1 2. Drill Template and Screw Kit × 1 3. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: any 802.3af PoE NVR port or switch (max 6.5W). A separate 12V DC adapter is only needed without PoE. 2. Network: a wired Ethernet run back to your NVR or switch — PoE carries power and video together on the same line. 3. Mounting: solid wall, ceiling or eave at 2.5–3 metres, with the base sealed against the surface — the housing is IP67-rated for exposed positions.

03

App Setup

1. Activate the camera with a strong password on first connection, then add it to the Hik-Connect app via QR code. 2. Enable push notifications so AcuSense human and vehicle alerts reach your phone. 3. Draw line crossing and intrusion zones tight to your own property through the camera's web interface, and set the target type to human and vehicle.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD2366G2-I

Q.01

What does AcuSense actually do?

The camera classifies what triggered an event — human, vehicle, or neither — using deep learning on the camera itself, so a possum, rain or moving branches don't page your phone at 2am. It backs that with perimeter protection: line crossing, intrusion and region entrance/exit detection, each filtered to the target types you choose.
Q.02

How far can it see at night?

It records colour down to 0.003 lux through its F1.6 lens, switching to infrared with a 30-metre range in full darkness. Smart supplement light adjusts the IR intensity automatically so close objects don't white out.
Q.03

What does the 2.8mm lens cover?

105.1° horizontal and 53.4° vertical — a porch, garage front or driveway from one corner mount, with faces identifiable to about 7.9 metres. A long approach or a distant gate wants a longer-lens camera instead.
Q.04

Does this camera record audio?

No — the -I variant has no microphone at all, which is exactly why it exists: strata schemes, shared accessways and workplaces often restrict audio recording. If you want sound, the -IU adds a built-in mic.
Q.05

Which NVR do I need for this camera?

Any current Hikvision PoE NVR records it, and because AcuSense classification runs in the camera itself, human and vehicle filtering works on the M-series recorders we kit it with — the DS-7604NI-M1/4P and DS-7608NI-M2/8P.
Q.06

How many channels and what size hard drive do I need?

Count your cameras and leave room to grow: up to 4 suit a 4CH NVR, up to 8 an 8CH. Each 6MP camera writes roughly 40GB a day recording continuously, so a 4TB drive holds about 3 weeks from four cameras — and two months or more on motion-only recording.
Q.07

Will it work with a non-Hikvision NVR?

Yes — it is ONVIF conformant (Profile S, G and T). You keep video and motion events; the smoothest experience with AcuSense filtering and the Hik-Connect app stays within the Hikvision ecosystem.
Q.08

Can I use this camera without an NVR?

You can — it takes a MicroSD card up to 256GB (not included) and streams to the Hik-Connect app. Most buyers still pair it with an NVR for longer retention, all cameras in one timeline and easier playback; treat the SD slot as backup.
Q.09

Is a Hikvision camera safe to use in Australia?

Hikvision equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS, TLS and 802.1X authentication. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.
Q.10

Which 2366 turret should I buy?

Five variants share the same 6MP AcuSense classification. The G2H-IU is the night pick — an F1.0 lens rated 0.001 lux colour with the widest 114.8° view, plus a mic. The G2-IU is the value mic pick, and the G2-I the no-audio pick for privacy-sensitive sites. For deterrence, the G2H-IS2U/SL adds a strobe light, audible warnings and two-way talk on top of the F1.0 sensor but needs a PoE+ port; the G2-ISU/SL gives the same response on standard PoE.
Q.11

What if I want colour at night and active deterrence?

These AcuSense cameras record quietly in infrared and never light up, which suits discretion. For full-colour night footage and a camera that warns intruders off with a strobe and voice, the ColorVu range does that with the same human and vehicle AI. Pick AcuSense for quiet evidence, ColorVu where you want to be seen and heard.
Q.12

What warranty coverage applies in Australia?

The camera includes a 3-year warranty covering defects. Installation labour is not covered.
