This 8-camera kit pairs eight DS-2CD2366G2-I 6MP AcuSense turrets with the 8-channel DS-7608NI-M2/8P recorder and a pre-installed 4TB surveillance drive — recording starts as soon as the cameras are plugged in.
Eight cameras is full-perimeter coverage: every wall of a large home or business premises watched, with no blind approach left. AcuSense classification on every camera keeps eight channels of alerts down to the humans and vehicles that matter, the 0.003 lux DarkFighter sensors hold colour into the evening, and 30m of smart infrared covers true darkness.
This kit uses all eight channels, and eight 6MP streams fill the 4TB drive in around 12 days of continuous recording — set motion-only recording, or upgrade the drive with the kit customiser on this page. No microphones on these cameras keeps audio consent simple across a big system.

Installation Requirements
1. Each camera needs one Ethernet run back to the NVR — the PoE ports carry power and video together, up to 100m per run. 2. Mount on a solid wall or eave; under-eave positions keep lenses clear of direct rain and afternoon sun. 3. Connect the NVR to your router with a short Ethernet patch lead for remote viewing — works on all NBN connection types.
App Setup
1. Activate the NVR with a strong password on first boot, then add it to the Hik-Connect app by scanning the QR code on the NVR screen. 2. Enable push notifications in Hik-Connect so AcuSense human and vehicle alerts reach your phone. 3. Draw each camera's line crossing and intrusion zones tight to your own property, with target type set to human and vehicle.

Is this kit ready to use out of the box?
Yes — the 4TB drive comes installed and formatted, and the PoE ports power all eight cameras. Mount the cameras, run one Ethernet line from each to the NVR, and recording starts automatically at default settings.

How long will the 4TB drive keep footage?
Around 12 days of continuous recording from eight 6MP cameras (roughly 40GB per camera per day) — or a month or more on motion-only recording. The NVR overwrites the oldest footage automatically. For longer retention, upgrade the drive with the kit customiser before checkout.

Can I add more cameras later?
This kit uses all eight PoE channels on the recorder. Adding a ninth camera means moving to a 16-channel NVR — if growth is on the cards, ask about a 16CH base before ordering rather than replacing the recorder later.

How far can the cameras see at night?
Each turret records colour down to 0.003 lux through its DarkFighter sensor, then switches to smart infrared with a 30-metre range in full darkness — the IR self-adjusts so close objects don't white out. Faces are identifiable to about 7.9 metres with the 2.8mm lens; number plates still need daylight or good lighting.

Do these cameras record audio?
No — the G2-I cameras in this kit have no microphones, which suits strata schemes, shared driveways and workplaces where audio recording raises consent issues. If you want audio on a corner or two, add the -IU mic version to your order — same imaging, same AI, same recorder.

What does AcuSense actually do?
Each camera classifies what triggered an event — human, vehicle, or neither — using deep learning on the camera itself, and line crossing, intrusion and region entry/exit zones trigger only on the target types you choose. Far fewer junk notifications get through than pixel-based motion detection.

Can this kit warn intruders off, like cameras with sirens?
Not this one — these are quiet cameras that record and alert. If you want a camera that answers back, add the G2-ISU/SL (strobe, audible warnings, two-way talk) to an approach, or look at the Dahua TiOC family for red and blue lights and a siren.

What does the NVR actually do beyond recording?
