01Overview

What the DS-1280ZJ-DM21 is

The Hikvision DS-1280ZJ-DM21 (Hikvision factory code CB135) is a deep junction box for larger Hikvision cameras: 2CD27x2-series varifocal domes and the bigger AcuSense and ColorVu turrets such as the DS-2CD2386G2-IU and DS-2CD2387G3. The extra depth gives you room to coil the network cable and seat a chunkier connector behind the camera.

It is aluminium alloy and rated for indoor and outdoor mounting, with a stated maximum load of 4.5 kg, comfortably more than any compatible camera. Because this box spans several camera generations, the safest approach is to check the mounting-accessory line on your camera's datasheet before buying.

Compatibility listed by Hikvision and major resellers covers DS-2CD2385G1-I, DS-2CD2365G1-I, DS-2CD2386G2-IU and DS-2CD2387G3, among other large turret and varifocal dome models.

04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-1280ZJ-DM21

Sized for bigger cameras

The deep CB135 base is built for Hikvision's larger turrets and varifocal domes, so there is room to coil cable and house a full-size connector without forcing the camera base.

Genuine Hikvision part

As the factory DS-1280ZJ-DM21, the screw pattern and seal match the camera bodies it is designed for, giving a flush, watertight fit.

Weatherproofs the join

Keeps the network cable and connector sealed inside aluminium rather than exposed, which is where outdoor cameras most often fail.

Strong and corrosion-resistant

Aluminium alloy with a sprayed finish stands up to Australian sun and coastal air, with a 4.5 kg load rating to spare.

05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Large AcuSense turret installs

Pair with a DS-2CD2386G2-IU or similar 8MP turret to hide and protect the cable entry on an exposed wall.

Varifocal dome mounting

2CD27x2 varifocal domes need the deeper base to seat the cable and connector cleanly.

Conduit terminations

Bring external conduit into the side gland for a neat, weatherproof cable entry on commercial sites.

Exposed and coastal sites

Aluminium construction holds up where plastic boxes go brittle in UV and salt air.

06Setup

Installation & setup

  1. What's in the box

One DS-1280ZJ-DM21 deep junction box with waterproof cover and gland, plus mounting screws. Camera and network cable are not included.

  2. Installation requirements

Mount to a flat surface able to support at least three times the combined box and camera weight. Route the cable through the base or side gland, seal for outdoor use, then fit the camera to the box. Confirm the box is listed for your exact camera model on its datasheet before drilling.

08Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-1280ZJ-DM21

Q.01

Which cameras does the DS-1280ZJ-DM21 fit?
It is the deep box (factory code CB135) for larger Hikvision cameras: 2CD27x2 varifocal domes and bigger turrets such as the DS-2CD2385G1-I, DS-2CD2365G1-I, DS-2CD2386G2-IU and DS-2CD2387G3. Compatibility spans several generations, so confirm the mounting accessory on your camera's datasheet first.
Q.02

How is the DM21 different from the smaller DM8 box?
The DM21 (CB135) has a deeper base with more internal room, sized for the larger turret and varifocal dome bodies. The DS-1280ZJ-DM8 (CB130T) is shallower and suits the smaller 2CD23x3/23x5 turret and dome cameras. Match the box to the size of your camera.
Q.03

Will my DS-2CD2386G2-IU turret fit this box?
Yes. The DS-2CD2386G2-IU is one of the larger AcuSense turrets that the DM21 is listed to suit. It is a common pairing for tidying and weatherproofing the cable entry on that camera.
Q.04

Is it suitable for outdoor mounting?
Yes. It is aluminium alloy and rated for indoor and outdoor use. Seal the cable entry with the rubber grommet and add outdoor silicone where the base meets the wall so rain cannot track behind it.
Q.05

What is the maximum load it can hold?
Hikvision rates the maximum load at 4.5 kg. That is well above the weight of any compatible turret or dome camera, so the limiting factor is the strength of the wall fixings you use.
Q.06

Is the camera included?
No. This listing is the junction box only. It is a mounting accessory you add to the camera it suits.
Q.07

Does it come in black?
Yes. Hikvision makes a black version (DS-1280ZJ-DM21 BLACK / CB135B) alongside the standard Hikvision-white finish.
