§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CD2366G2H-IU is

Lens: 2.8mm.

The DS-2CD2366G2H-IU is the G2H generation of Hikvision's quiet 6MP turret — the camera in our 6-camera Hikvision kit, and the night pick of the 2366 family.

The F1.0 lens is rated 0.001 lux in colour, gathering over twice the light of the G2's F1.6: scenes that push the older sensor into grey infrared stay in colour here, off nothing more than sky glow.

It's also the widest quiet turret in the range at 114.8°, with a built-in microphone, a 512GB MicroSD ceiling and the same camera-side AcuSense AI as its siblings — human and vehicle classification with line crossing, intrusion and region entry/exit zones.

WDR is the full 120dB, and smart infrared covers 30 metres when the light truly runs out.

It records and alerts but doesn't intervene — no speaker or strobe; the G2H-IS2U/SL adds those on the same sensor.

Unlike that model, this one runs on standard 802.3af PoE at 8W max.

Metal IP67 housing, rated -30°C to +60°C.

What the DS-2CD2366G2H-IU features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

6MP Ultra HD

6MP captures around three times the detail of 1080p. Plenty of resolution to zoom into a face or number plate part-way down the driveway and still read it clearly.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

Illustrative — simulated for demonstration

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD2366G2H-IU

Colour after the G2 goes grey

0.001 lux at F1.0 is the strongest quiet-camera rating in the range — and colour detail at night is what identifies clothing and vehicles.

More scene per camera

114.8° against the G2's 105.1° sounds incremental until it's the difference between one camera covering the garage and path, or needing two.

Alerts that are worth opening

AcuSense classifies humans and vehicles on the camera itself, so the 2am notification is a person in your driveway — not a possum, headlights or rain.

Quiet by design

Honest scope: it records and alerts but won't flash or speak. For the same sensor with a strobe, warnings and two-way talk, step up to the G2H-IS2U/SL — and budget the PoE+ port it needs.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Unlit yards and side paths

The genuinely dark corners that defeat F1.6 sensors — this holds colour off ambient glow and keeps 30m of IR in reserve.

Wide frontage from one mount

Double garage plus the path beside it in one 114.8° frame — the camera that saves you buying a second camera.

Front entry and porch

Faces in colour at night with the doorstep audio on the recording — check your state's rules on recording audio in shared spaces.

Six-camera home systems

This is the camera in our 6-camera Hikvision kit — two-storey homes and corner blocks get its night colour at every position.

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Hikvision DS-2CD2366G2H-IU Camera × 1 2. Drill Template and Screw Kit × 1 3. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: any 802.3af PoE NVR port or switch (max 8W). A separate 12V DC adapter is only needed without PoE. 2. Network: a wired Ethernet run back to your NVR or switch — PoE carries power and video together on the same line. 3. Mounting: solid wall, ceiling or eave at 2.5–3 metres, with the base sealed against the surface — the housing is IP67-rated for exposed positions.

03

App Setup

1. Activate the camera with a strong password on first connection, then add it to the Hik-Connect app via QR code. 2. Enable push notifications so AcuSense human and vehicle alerts reach your phone. 3. Draw line crossing and intrusion zones tight to your own property through the camera's web interface, and set the target type to human and vehicle.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD2366G2H-IU

Q.01

How far can it see at night?

It records colour down to 0.001 lux through its F1.0 lens, switching to infrared with a 30-metre range in full darkness. Smart supplement light adjusts the IR intensity automatically so close objects don't white out. That 0.001 lux figure is the strongest quiet-camera rating in the 2366 range — over twice the light-gathering of the G2's F1.6.
Q.02

Why does the G2H list a shorter identify distance than the older G2?

Hikvision tightened its DORI testing between generations — the G2H's 6-metre identify figure is measured more conservatively than the G2's 7.9 metres, so the numbers can't be compared directly. Optically the G2H is the stronger camera: its F1.0 lens gathers over twice the light of the G2's F1.6, and the view is about 10° wider.
Q.03

What does the 2.8mm lens cover?

114.8° horizontal and 60° vertical — the widest quiet turret in the range, taking in a double garage front and the path beside it from one corner mount. Faces identify to about 6 metres on Hikvision's current conservative DORI methodology.
Q.04

What does AcuSense actually do?

The camera classifies what triggered an event — human, vehicle, or neither — using deep learning on the camera itself, so a possum, rain or moving branches don't page your phone at 2am. It backs that with perimeter protection: line crossing, intrusion and region entrance/exit detection, each filtered to the target types you choose.
Q.05

Does this camera record audio?

Yes — the built-in microphone adds audio to recordings. There's no speaker, so it can't talk back; that's the G2H-IS2U/SL's job. Check your state's listening-device rules before recording audio in shared spaces.
Q.06

Which NVR do I need for this camera?

Any current Hikvision PoE NVR records it, and because AcuSense classification runs in the camera itself, human and vehicle filtering works on the M-series recorders we kit it with — the DS-7604NI-M1/4P and DS-7608NI-M2/8P.
Q.07

How many channels and what size hard drive do I need?

Count your cameras and leave room to grow: up to 4 suit a 4CH NVR, up to 8 an 8CH. Each 6MP camera writes roughly 40GB a day recording continuously, so a 4TB drive holds about 3 weeks from four cameras — and two months or more on motion-only recording.
Q.08

Will it work with a non-Hikvision NVR?

Yes — it is ONVIF conformant (Profile S, G and T). You keep video and motion events; the smoothest experience with AcuSense filtering and the Hik-Connect app stays within the Hikvision ecosystem.
Q.09

Can I use this camera without an NVR?

You can — it takes a MicroSD card up to 512GB (not included) and streams to the Hik-Connect app. Most buyers still pair it with an NVR for longer retention, all cameras in one timeline and easier playback; treat the SD slot as backup.
Q.10

Is a Hikvision camera safe to use in Australia?

Hikvision equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS, TLS and 802.1X authentication. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.
Q.11

Which 2366 turret should I buy?

Five variants share the same 6MP AcuSense classification. The G2H-IU is the night pick — an F1.0 lens rated 0.001 lux colour with the widest 114.8° view, plus a mic. The G2-IU is the value mic pick, and the G2-I the no-audio pick for privacy-sensitive sites. For deterrence, the G2H-IS2U/SL adds a strobe light, audible warnings and two-way talk on top of the F1.0 sensor but needs a PoE+ port; the G2-ISU/SL gives the same response on standard PoE.
Q.12

What if I want colour at night and active deterrence?

These AcuSense cameras record quietly in infrared and never light up, which suits discretion. For full-colour night footage and a camera that warns intruders off with a strobe and voice, the ColorVu range does that with the same human and vehicle AI. Pick AcuSense for quiet evidence, ColorVu where you want to be seen and heard.
Q.13

What warranty coverage applies in Australia?

The camera includes a 3-year warranty covering defects. Installation labour is not covered.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

The 6-camera kit

Six of these on a DS-7608NI-M2/8P with a 4TB drive installed — our Hikvision kit for two-storey homes and corner blocks, with two channels spare.

02

Deterrence version

The G2H-IS2U/SL adds a strobe, audible warnings and two-way talk to this same F1.0 sensor — it needs a PoE+ port.

03

Tighter budget?

The G2-IU keeps the mic and the AI at 0.003 lux for less — the difference shows after dark, not during the day.
