Hikvision DS-7608NI-M2/8P 8ch M-Series PoE NVR, 128Mbps, 4K, 2 Bay, 1RU, 4TB

SKU: DS-7608NI-M2/8P
Description

The Hikvision DS-7608NI-M2/8P is an 8-channel M-series PoE NVR supplied with a 4TB surveillance hard drive installed. The M-series trades the recorder-side AcuSense analytics of the I-series for higher performance — 128 Mbps incoming bandwidth, support for cameras up to 32MP and 8K HDMI output — making it the recorder to pair with cameras that already have AcuSense built in.

Key points
- 8 channels with 8 built-in plug-and-play PoE ports (IEEE 802.3af/at, ≤ 120 W)
- 128 Mbps incoming bandwidth; records IP cameras up to 32MP
- 8K HDMI plus 1080p VGA simultaneous output
- Two SATA bays (up to 14TB each); 4TB HDD installed
- H.265+ compression; remote view via Hik-Connect
- M-series: relies on AcuSense in the cameras, not the recorder

§ 01Overview

What the DS-7608NI-M2/8P is

The Hikvision DS-7608NI-M2/8P is an 8-channel network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports and a 4TB surveillance hard drive already installed. It is the M-series recorder, built for performance: 128 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, support for IP cameras up to 32MP, and 8K HDMI output, which is a step up from the I-series on raw throughput and resolution.

The trade-off is that the M-series does not run AcuSense analytics in the recorder itself, so smart human and vehicle filtering comes from AcuSense built into the cameras instead. That makes this the right NVR when your cameras already have AcuSense, and you want the recorder to handle high-resolution streams and a high channel load smoothly. Each PoE port powers and connects a camera over a single cable (802.3af/at, up to 120 W total), H.265+ compression stretches the included 4TB of storage, and a second SATA bay (up to 14TB per drive) extends retention.

You view live and play back from anywhere with the free Hik-Connect app. It is genuine Australian Hikvision stock with local warranty and support.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-7608NI-M2/8P

Built for performance

128 Mbps incoming bandwidth, support for 32MP cameras and 8K HDMI output let it handle high-resolution streams and a full channel load smoothly.

Ready to record

A 4TB surveillance-grade drive is installed and the eight PoE ports power your cameras, so it runs out of the box with nothing extra to buy.

Pairs with AcuSense cameras

Smart human and vehicle analytics come from your cameras, so the recorder is free to focus on throughput and resolution.

Efficient, expandable storage

H.265+ stretches the included 4TB, and a second SATA bay (up to 14TB) extends retention as you need it.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

High-resolution camera systems

Run up to eight high-megapixel AcuSense cameras with bandwidth and decoding headroom the I-series does not have.

Homes and business

Cover the property in detail with several weeks of recording on the included 4TB drive.

Upgrades to 8K displays

Output to a large 8K monitor over HDMI for a sharp live wall and detailed playback.

Remote-monitored sites

View and play back all channels from anywhere on Hik-Connect, with smart events from the cameras.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR with a 4TB HDD installed, power supply and mouse. Cameras, network cable and a monitor are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Run Cat5e or Cat6 from the NVR's PoE ports to each camera (keep runs within about 100 m), connect the NVR to a monitor by HDMI and to your router for remote access, then add it to Hik-Connect. Use AcuSense cameras for smart human and vehicle events. Add a second SATA drive for longer retention.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-7608NI-M2/8P

Q.01

Does the DS-7608NI-M2/8P include a hard drive?

Yes. A 4TB surveillance-grade hard drive is installed and ready to record. There is a second SATA bay for an additional drive of up to 14TB for longer retention.
Q.02

How is the M2 different from the I2 version?

The M-series M2 is the performance model: 128 Mbps incoming bandwidth, support for cameras up to 32MP and 8K HDMI output, but it does not run AcuSense analytics in the recorder. The I-series I2 has lower bandwidth but adds recorder-side AcuSense human and vehicle analytics. Choose the M2 when your cameras already have AcuSense and you want higher resolution and throughput; choose the I2 if you want the smart analytics done in the recorder.
Q.03

Does this NVR do human and vehicle detection?

The smart human and vehicle filtering comes from AcuSense built into the cameras, not from the M-series recorder. As long as your cameras are AcuSense models, you still get human and vehicle classification recorded and searchable on this NVR.
Q.04

How many cameras can it take?

It is an 8-channel recorder with 8 built-in PoE ports, so it powers and connects up to eight IP cameras directly over a single cable each.
Q.05

What camera resolutions does it support?

It records IP cameras up to 32MP, which is higher than the I-series, and outputs to a monitor at up to 8K over HDMI with a simultaneous 1080p VGA output.
Q.06

How long will the 4TB drive record for?

It depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate and whether you record continuously or on motion. With H.265+ and motion recording, 4TB typically holds several weeks from a set of cameras; continuous high-resolution recording on all eight channels will be shorter, and a second drive extends it.
Q.07

Can I watch it from my phone?

Yes. Connect the NVR to your router and add it to the free Hik-Connect app to view live and play back recordings from your phone or tablet, at home or away.
Q.08

Is this genuine Australian Hikvision stock?

Yes. It is genuine Hikvision product supplied with Australian warranty and local support, not grey import.

Buying from Smarket

Is your Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and TP-Link VIGI stock genuine Australian stock?

How much is shipping?

Standard shipping is free on all orders over $300 AUD, Australia-wide. Orders under $300 ship at a flat rate of $25, calculated at checkout. Tracking is included on every order.

What warranty do you offer?

All cameras, NVRs and DVRs come with a 3-year back-to-base manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Hard drives and accessories are covered as set out in our Warranty Policy.

What is your return policy?

You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request a change-of-mind return. Items must be unopened, factory-sealed and in resalable condition. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost. Faulty or incorrectly supplied items are different: we cover the return shipping and refund or replace at no charge.
