§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2 is

This 4-camera TiOC 3.0 kit pairs four DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2 8MP turrets with the 4-channel DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ recorder — no hard drive is included, so add a surveillance drive to your order below to start recording.

Four cameras is the standard single-storey layout — entry, driveway, backyard, side access — and here every position fights back: cross a tripwire and that camera flashes red and blue lights, plays a siren or voice warning, and records the event in 4K full colour under its warm light. Faces identify to about 6.6 metres, and SMD 4.0 keeps the alerts to humans and vehicles.

This kit uses all four channels; if growth is on the cards, swap the recorder for an 8- or 16-channel model in the Customize this kit section above, or take the same four cameras on an 8CH recorder with four channels spare. Four 8MP streams fill a 4TB drive in around 2 weeks of continuous recording.

See it in action

What the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2 features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

8MP Ultra HD

8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

Dual-Light Night Vision

Combines infrared with a warm spotlight so it can light a scene in colour at night rather than relying on black-and-white alone — clearer, more useful footage when there's something to see.

Full Color Night Vision

Unlike plain black-and-white night vision, this camera can capture colour after dark — so you can pick out the actual colour of a car, a jacket or a bag, detail that grey infrared footage loses.

False Alarm Reduction

Filtering helps separate real activity from harmless movement like rain, leaves or pets, so you get fewer pointless notifications and the alerts that matter stand out.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

Two-Way Audio

Talk and listen in real time through the app — tell a courier where to leave a parcel, or speak to someone at the gate, whether you're home or away.

§ 02Engineering

DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2 specifications

- 4 x 8MP TiOC 3.0 Turrets: 3840 × 2160 F1.0 sensors rated to 0.004 lux colour — red and blue lights, siren voices and two-way talk on every camera.
- 4CH AI NVR: DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ with PoE on every channel — each camera runs off a single Ethernet run from the recorder.
- No HDD included (add a hard drive to enable recording); a 4TB drive gives around 2 weeks of continuous 4K footage from four cameras, far longer on motion-only recording.
- Smart Dual Illuminators: auto-switching between 30m infrared for everyday nights and 30m warm white light the moment a person or vehicle is confirmed — the event records in full colour while the red and blue strobes fire on top.
- SMD 4.0 + Quick Pick: the NVR's AI search pulls every human or vehicle event from a day of recordings in one pass.
- IP67 Metal Housings: rated from -40°C to +60°C for exposed Australian mounting positions.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2

Everything matched, no subscriptions

Cameras and AI recorder arrive matched and ready — no HDD included, just add a surveillance hard drive below to start recording. No compatibility guesswork, no subscriptions.

Deterrence at every approach

Each camera answers its own zone: red and blue lights, a siren or voice warning through its speaker, and warm light so the event records in full colour — intruders are challenged at the boundary, not just filmed.

4K detail you can act on

After an incident you zoom into the recording — at 3840 × 2160 a face, a logo or a parked car stays readable where lower resolutions turn to blur, with faces identifiable to 6.6 metres.

Loud on purpose — check it suits your street

Strobes and siren voices confront whoever triggers them. Draw zones to your own boundary and schedule sound overnight — or for tight terrace streets and strata, the quieter 3867 WizSense turret records the same 4K detail without the noise.

Alerts that are worth opening

SMD 4.0 classifies humans and vehicles before anything fires, so the 2am notification — and the siren — is for a person in your driveway, not a possum, headlights or rain.

One app for the lot

Live view, playback, push alerts, two-way talk and one-tap disarming all live in the free DMSS app, from anywhere — no static IP, no subscriptions.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Single-storey family home

The classic four-corner layout: front door, driveway, backyard and side gate — every approach covered in 4K, and every approach answers intruders with lights and a voice warning.

Driveway and carport theft

The camera watching the cars challenges anyone lingering at 2am with lights and sound before a door handle is touched — recorded in full colour with enough resolution to zoom in afterwards.

Townhouse with rear lane

Two cameras street-side, two on the courtyard and lane. Draw zones to your own boundary so lane foot traffic never triggers the sirens.

Small business after close

Entries and the rear door challenged with voice warnings the moment a zone is crossed — and dual mics on every camera add audio evidence where your state's recording rules allow it.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2 Camera × 4 2. DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ NVR × 1 (no HDD included — add a hard drive to enable recording) 3. NVR Power Adapter × 1 4. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Each camera needs one Ethernet run back to the NVR — the PoE ports carry power, video and every deterrence feature together, up to 100m per run. 2. Mount on a solid wall or eave; under-eave positions keep lenses clear of direct rain and afternoon sun. 3. Connect the NVR to your router with a short Ethernet patch lead for remote viewing — works on all NBN connection types.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, then scan the QR code shown on the NVR screen (Main Menu → Network → P2P). 2. Enable push notifications in DMSS, and keep one-tap disarming handy for expected visitors. 3. Draw each camera's tripwire and intrusion zones tight to your own property — zones are what fire the lights and siren voices, so keep footpaths and the neighbour's driveway out of them.

04

Do you need a sparkie?

Usually not. PoE means one data cable per camera — including the lights and siren — and you are not touching 240 V. Get a licensed electrician if the runs go through walls or into the roof space, or you need a new powerpoint for the recorder.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ-S2

Q.01

Is this kit ready to use out of the box?

No — a hard drive is not included with this kit; add one to your order below to enable recording. The PoE ports power all four cameras including their lights and sirens. Mount the cameras, run one Ethernet line from each to the NVR, and recording starts automatically at default settings.
Q.02

Is a hard drive included?

No — the NVR ships without storage, and a surveillance-rated drive is required for recording. Add one below or in the Customize this kit section; the next question covers how long each size records.
Q.03

How long will a 4TB drive keep footage?

Around 2 weeks of continuous recording from four 8MP cameras (roughly 60GB per camera per day), and a month or more on motion-only recording. The NVR overwrites the oldest footage automatically — for longer retention, choose a larger drive with the kit customiser before checkout.
Q.04

Can I add more cameras later?

This kit uses all four PoE channels. If growth is on the cards, the same cameras come as a 4-camera kit on an 8CH recorder with four spare channels — or step straight up to the 6 or 8 camera kit. You can also swap the recorder for an 8- or 16-channel model in the Customize this kit section on this page — the cameras and cabling carry straight over.
Q.05

How does the deterrence actually work across the kit?

Each camera runs its own tripwire and intrusion zones — the one that detects reacts on the spot with red and blue lights, a siren or voice warning through its speaker, and warm light so the event records in full colour. One-tap disarming in the DMSS app stands the system down when you're expecting people.
Q.06

Will the lights and sirens annoy the neighbours?

They can if zones are drawn carelessly — this is a kit that reacts out loud. Draw each camera's zones tight to your own property, schedule sound off overnight, or set individual cameras to light-only. For positions facing a shared driveway or footpath, the quieter 3867 WizSense turret records the same 4K detail without the noise.
Q.07

How far can the cameras see at night?

Each turret records colour down to 0.004 lux through its F1.0 lens, then switches to infrared with a 30-metre range in full darkness. When a person or vehicle is detected, the 30-metre warm light takes over and that event records in full colour.
Q.08

Can the cameras identify faces and number plates?

With the 2.8mm lens, faces are reliably identifiable to about 6.6 metres — porch and doorway distance — and the 4K frame leaves room to zoom into recordings afterwards. Number plates still need daylight or good lighting: glare and headlights work against any camera at night.
Q.09

Do these cameras support AcuPick search?

The cameras do — paired with an AcuPick-capable Dahua recorder, AcuPick matches a person across cameras in seconds. The AI NVR included in this kit runs SMD 4.0 classification and Quick Pick search, which already pulls every human or vehicle event from a day of footage in one pass.
Q.10

Should I have chosen a quieter WizSense kit instead?

Both families run the same Dahua AI — human and vehicle classification, SMD 4.0 and perimeter protection. The difference is the response. These TiOC turrets confront: lights, siren voices, full-colour event capture and two-way talk. A WizSense kit built on the 3867 records the same 4K detail quietly and just alerts your phone. Pick this kit where you want intruders challenged at the boundary; pick WizSense where evidence is enough.
Q.11

What's the difference between the 3849, the 3649 and the 3867?

All three are 3 Series turrets. The 3849 (the cameras in this kit) is the 8MP TiOC 3.0 — deterrence plus 4K detail, with AcuPick support on compatible recorders. The 3649 is the 6MP TiOC 2.0 — the same red and blue lights and siren at a lower price, with the family's best low-light rating (0.003 lux). The 3867 is the quiet pick: 4K WizSense detail with no lights or sirens.
Q.12

What does the AI NVR actually do beyond recording?

Three things: it classifies SMD alerts so only humans and vehicles notify you, Quick Pick search pulls every person or vehicle event from hours of footage in one pass, and it runs tripwire and intrusion zones per camera. It also powers all four cameras over its PoE ports.
Q.13

Does SMD 4.0 really reduce false alarms from animals and weather?

Yes. SMD 4.0 uses AI to distinguish humans and vehicles from small animals, tree movement and rain, and AI SSA re-tunes the image in rain, fog and backlight, so far fewer junk notifications get through than basic motion detection.
Q.14

Do I need to pay any subscription?

No. Recording, AI detection, deterrence and remote viewing through the DMSS app all run on your own hardware — no monthly fees and no cloud account requirement.
Q.15

Can I view the cameras on my phone away from home?

Yes — enable P2P on the NVR, scan the QR code in the DMSS app, and live view plus playback work over the internet. The system also works fully offline if you prefer no outside access.
Q.16

Will it work without internet?

Yes. Cameras record to the NVR on a closed local network, and the lights and sirens still fire on local detection. Internet is only needed for remote viewing and push notifications.
Q.17

Is a Dahua system safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This kit records locally to its own NVR, needs no cloud account, and supports HTTPS and encrypted firmware. On an isolated network it still records normally.
Q.18

What does the 3-year warranty cover?

Defects in the cameras and NVR for 3 years. Any hard drive you add carries its own manufacturer warranty terms, and installation labour is not covered.
