§ 01Overview

What the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ is

The Dahua DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ is a small four-channel WizSense recorder for a starter home or shop system.

Its four PoE ports power and connect up to four IP cameras over a single network cable each, so it runs as a self-contained unit without a separate switch, and it records cameras up to 16MP.

Despite its size it carries the same recorder-side AI as its larger siblings: SMD Plus to separate people and vehicles from other movement, one channel of face detection and recognition, two channels of perimeter protection, and Quick Pick to jump straight to matching people or vehicles in the footage.

It outputs 4K over HDMI with a 1080p VGA feed and uses Smart H.265+ to keep storage and bandwidth down.

It has a single SATA bay (up to 16TB) and is supplied without a hard drive, so add a surveillance drive to record.

The four PoE ports share a 36 W budget (25.5 W per port), which suits a set of typical Dahua cameras.

It is genuine Australian Dahua stock with local warranty and support, viewed remotely on the free DMSS app.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ

Right-sized for four cameras

Four built-in PoE ports run a small system from one compact unit with no extra switch or plug-packs to manage.

Full AI in a small recorder

It carries the same SMD Plus, face detection and Quick Pick smart search as the larger models, so a starter system still gets people-and-vehicle alerts.

4K output and efficient storage

4K HDMI and Smart H.265+ give sharp footage on screen while stretching a single drive further.

Easy to live with

Plug-and-play PoE cameras, remote viewing on DMSS and genuine Australian support make it a straightforward first system.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Small homes and units

Cover the front and back doors and a side gate with up to four cameras and smart motion alerts.

Shops and cafes

Watch the entry, counter and storeroom, with Quick Pick to find an incident in the recordings quickly.

Home offices and garages

Keep an eye on a workshop, garage or studio with a tidy four-camera setup.

First CCTV system

Start small with four cameras and recorder-side AI, then move up to a larger NVR later if you expand.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ

Q.01

Does the NVR4104HS-P come with a hard drive?

No. It is supplied without a drive so you can choose your storage. It has one SATA bay that takes a surveillance-grade drive up to 16TB, so fit a drive before you expect it to record.
Q.02

How many cameras can it take?

It is a 4-channel recorder with four built-in PoE ports, so it powers and connects up to four IP cameras directly over one cable each, with no separate switch needed.
Q.03

Is the 36 W PoE budget enough for four cameras?

Yes for typical Dahua turrets and bullets, which draw around 5 to 9 W each, comfortably inside the 36 W total with up to 25.5 W available on a single port. If a camera is a high-draw dual-light or motorised model, check the combined draw or power that camera separately.
Q.04

What camera resolution does it record?

It records IP cameras up to 16MP and outputs to a monitor at up to 4K over HDMI, with a simultaneous 1080p VGA output for a second screen.
Q.05

Can it do people and vehicle detection?

Yes. It runs SMD Plus on the recorder to classify movement as a person or vehicle, plus a channel of face detection and recognition and two channels of perimeter protection, so alerts focus on real events rather than every bit of motion.
Q.06

How long will a drive record for?

It depends on the number of cameras, their resolution and frame rate, and whether you record continuously or on motion. With Smart H.265+ and motion recording, a mid-size drive typically holds several weeks from four cameras; continuous high-resolution recording is shorter, and a larger drive extends it.
Q.07

Can I watch it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the NVR to your router and add it to the free Dahua DMSS app to view live and play back recordings from a phone or tablet, at home or away.
Q.08

Is this genuine Australian Dahua stock?

Yes. The /ANZ suffix indicates Australia and New Zealand firmware, and it is supplied as genuine Australian Dahua stock with local warranty and support.
