§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-HFW3666EP-AS-AUS is

The Dahua DH-IPC-HFW3666EP-AS-AUS is a 6MP WizSense fixed-lens bullet camera designed for entries, driveways, yards and perimeters where you want clear 6MP detail at a sensible price.

Its 1/2.7 inch CMOS sensor captures 3072 by 2048 at up to 25/30 fps, with 120 dB WDR and Starlight low-light performance to handle backlit doorways and dim conditions.

It ships with a fixed 2.8 mm or 3.6 mm lens, so choose the focal length for the scene before you order: the 2.8 mm gives a wider entry or carport view, the 3.6 mm reaches a little further down a driveway.

At night the camera switches to infrared, lighting the scene to about 30 m in black and white.

SMD 4.0 and IVS analytics classify human and vehicle movement, so alerts and recording follow people and cars rather than animals, foliage or weather, and tripwire and intrusion rules add accurate perimeter cover.

A built-in microphone records audio with the video.

Power is by PoE (802.3af) or 12 VDC over one cable, footage records to a microSD card up to 256 GB or to a Dahua NVR, and Quick Pick works with a Dahua AI NVR to pull human and vehicle events from recordings.

What the DH-IPC-HFW3666EP-AS-AUS features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

6MP Ultra HD

6MP captures around three times the detail of 1080p. Plenty of resolution to zoom into a face or number plate part-way down the driveway and still read it clearly.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

False Alarm Reduction

Filtering helps separate real activity from harmless movement like rain, leaves or pets, so you get fewer pointless notifications and the alerts that matter stand out.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-HFW3666EP-AS-AUS

6MP detail at a sensible price

The 6MP sensor captures sharper faces and plates than a 2MP or 4MP bullet, giving review footage that identifies people rather than just showing movement, without paying for features you may not need.

Fewer false alarms

SMD 4.0 and WizSense classification drive alerts from confirmed human and vehicle movement, so notifications stay meaningful and recordings stay relevant.

Simple single-cable install

PoE power and data over one cable, a low ~6.5 W draw, a fixed lens and onboard microSD up to 256 GB make it quick and cheap to deploy.

Built for the weather

An IP67 housing handles Australian sun, heat, dust and rain for reliable year-round outdoor coverage.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Home entries and driveways

A fixed 2.8 mm or 3.6 mm lens covers a front gate, garage or path with clear 6MP detail day and to 30 m at night.

Small-business frontages

Retail and office entries get sharp, affordable coverage with AI that keeps alerts focused on people and vehicles.

Perimeter and yard coverage

IVS tripwire and intrusion zones flag someone crossing a boundary, with human and vehicle classification to cut nuisance alerts.

Standalone or NVR systems

Record to a 256 GB microSD for a single camera, or add it to a Dahua WizSense NVR for continuous recording and Quick Pick search.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

The IPC-HFW3666EP-AS-AUS bullet camera with its mounting base and fittings and a waterproofing gland for the network connector. A PoE switch or injector, network cable, microSD card and any bracket or junction box are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Mount the camera to a wall or eave, ideally 2.5 to 3 m high, angled down over the area you want to watch, and run Cat5e/Cat6 back to a PoE switch or Dahua NVR. Seal the connector with the supplied gland for outdoor use, then set the fixed lens angle on site. To angle it off a flat wall or seal the cable join, add a compatible Dahua bracket or junction box.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-HFW3666EP-AS-AUS

Q.01

What is the real IR night-vision range of the HFW3666EP-AS?

Dahua's datasheet rates this bullet to 30 m of infrared illumination from its built-in IR LED. Some listings quote 50 m, but the official specification is 30 m, so plan camera spacing around a 30 m reach. At night the image is black and white in infrared mode, since this is an IR camera rather than a full-colour or dual-light model.
Q.02

Does it come with a 2.8 mm or 3.6 mm lens?

It is a fixed-focal camera offered with either a 2.8 mm or a 3.6 mm lens, so you choose the focal length before ordering. The 2.8 mm gives a wider view for a doorway or carport, while the 3.6 mm reaches a little further down a driveway. There is no motorised zoom on this model.
Q.03

How is this different from the motorised HFW3666TP?

Both are 6MP WizSense bullets. This HFW3666EP has a fixed lens and a 30 m IR reach at a lower price, while the HFW3666TP adds a motorised 2.7-13.5 mm zoom you can adjust remotely and a longer 60 m IR reach. Choose this fixed model for straightforward entry and yard coverage where you do not need to reframe later.
Q.04

Will it cut false alarms from animals and foliage?

Largely, yes. SMD 4.0 and WizSense analytics classify human and vehicle movement, so alerts and recording follow people and vehicles rather than pets, blowing foliage or passing headlights. Tripwire and intrusion zones let you flag only the areas that matter.
Q.05

How is it powered and do I need an NVR?

It runs on PoE using the 802.3af standard with a low draw of about 6.5 W, so one cable carries power and data, or it runs on a 12 VDC supply. It records to a microSD card up to 256 GB for a single camera, or connect it to a Dahua WizSense PoE NVR for continuous recording and Quick Pick search.
Q.06

Does it have two-way audio?

It has a built-in microphone that records audio with the video, plus audio input and output ports, but no built-in speaker, so it does not offer built-in two-way talk. It captures sound rather than letting you talk back through the camera.
Q.07

Is it weatherproof for Australian outdoor use?

Yes. It has an IP67-rated housing for dust and sustained rain. Mounting it under an eave still helps cut direct sun and lens glare on the front element.
