The Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3649H-AS-PV-ANZ is the deterrence pick of the 3 Series: a 6MP TiOC turret that doesn't just record intruders — it challenges them with red-and-blue strobes, a siren or voice warning, and two-way talk, then captures the event in full colour with the strongest low-light rating in the range.

What the DH-IPC-HDW3649H-AS-PV-ANZ is
The DH-IPC-HDW3649H-AS-PV-ANZ is the deterrence pick of Dahua's 3 Series turrets — the 6MP TiOC 2.0. Where the WizSense models record quietly, this camera reacts: cross a tripwire or intrusion zone and it flashes red and blue lights, plays a siren or voice warning through its built-in speaker, switches its warm light on and records the whole event in full colour. Dual mics and the speaker give real two-way talk from the DMSS app.
It is also the strongest night performer in the range: the F1.0 lens rates 0.003 lux in colour — ahead of the 6MP 3667 (0.005) and the 4K 3867 (0.007) — with 30 metres of infrared for everyday nights. The trade-offs are real, though: the 2.8mm lens covers 97°, a touch narrower than its WizSense siblings, faces identify to about 6.6 metres, and a camera that answers with lights and sound suits a property with its own clear approaches better than a tight shared street.
Most buyers run it from a Dahua AI NVR over PoE — one Ethernet run carries power, video and every deterrence feature (8.8W with everything firing). 6MP Ultra HD

What's in the box
1 x DH-IPC-HDW3649H-AS-PV-ANZ camera, power connector and quick-start guide. The 2.8 mm lens is standard.
Power and cable
One Cat5e/Cat6 run to any 802.3af PoE port on your NVR or switch, up to 100 m — 4.8 W typical, 8.8 W with the lights and speaker running. A separate 12 V DC adapter is only needed without PoE.
Mounting
Solid wall, ceiling or eave at 2.5-3 m — out of reach, but low enough that the warm light still shows faces in colour. The optional PFA137 junction box keeps the connection weatherproof and makes future swaps a 2-minute job.
Avoid night reflections
Don't aim it along a close wall or at glass — the IR and warm light can bounce back and wash out the image. Angle slightly away from reflective surfaces.
Do you need a sparkie?
Usually not. PoE means one data cable carries power, video, lights and siren, and you are not touching 240 V. Get a licensed electrician if the run goes through walls or roof space.
App setup and zones
Download DMSS, scan the device QR code and enable push notifications — keep the one-tap disarm switch handy for expected visitors. Then draw tripwire and intrusion zones tight to your own property through the camera's web interface: zones are what fire the lights and siren, so keep footpaths and the neighbour's driveway out of them.

How do the deterrence features actually work?
When someone crosses a tripwire or enters an intrusion zone you've drawn, the camera reacts on the spot: the red and blue lights flash, the built-in speaker plays a siren or voice warning, and the warm light switches on so the whole event records in full colour. It ships with multiple warning voices and supports importing your own recordings.

Can I turn the lights and siren off when I don't want them?
Yes — three ways. One-tap disarming in the DMSS app pauses all event linkage while you're expecting visitors. The camera's web interface schedules deterrence by time of day, or sets light-only with no sound. There's also a wired one-press arm/disarm through the alarm input for integrators.

Will the siren and strobes annoy my neighbours?
They can if zones are drawn carelessly — this is a camera that reacts out loud. Draw tripwires and intrusion zones tight to your own property so footpath traffic never triggers them, schedule sound off overnight, or run light-only mode. If the camera would face a shared driveway or a tight terrace street, the quieter 3667 WizSense turret records the same AI events without the theatrics.

The F1.0 lens records colour down to 0.003 lux — the strongest low-light rating in the 3 Series turret range. In full darkness the infrared illuminator covers 30 metres; when a person or vehicle is detected, the 30-metre warm light takes over and the event records in full colour.

What does the 2.8mm lens cover?
97° horizontal and 70° vertical — wide enough to take in a porch, garage front or driveway from one corner mount. Faces are identifiable to about 6.6 metres. It's a close-quarters camera: a long front approach or a distant gate needs a longer-lens model instead.

Any current Dahua PoE NVR records it. SMD classification, Quick Pick search and full event linkage want an AI model such as the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ or DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ used in our kits.

Count your cameras and leave room to grow: up to 4 suit a 4CH NVR, up to 8 an 8CH. Each 6MP camera writes roughly 40GB a day recording continuously, so a 4TB drive holds about 3 weeks from four cameras — and two months or more on motion-only recording.

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?
Yes — it is ONVIF conformant (Profile S, G and T) and works with Milestone. You keep video and basic motion events; SMD classification, Quick Pick and the light-and-siren event linkage need a Dahua AI NVR.

Yes. A single 802.3af PoE line powers everything — 4.8W in normal operation and 8.8W flat out with the warning light, warm light and speaker all running. A separate 12V DC supply is only needed where no PoE port is available.

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS, 802.1x and firmware encryption. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.

All three are 3 Series turrets with 30m night range. The 3649 (this camera) is the 6MP TiOC — the deterrence pick, with the family's best low-light rating (0.003 lux at F1.0). The 3667 is the 6MP value pick: the same SMD 4.0 AI in a quieter camera that records rather than reacts. The 3849 is the 8MP TiOC — the same deterrence tools with 4K-class resolution and AcuPick search, at a higher price.

Both run the same Dahua AI — human and vehicle classification, SMD 4.0 and perimeter protection. The difference is the response. This TiOC confronts: lights, siren voices, full-colour event capture and two-way talk. A WizSense IR turret such as the 3667 or the 4K 3867 records quietly and just alerts your phone. Pick TiOC for the approaches you want defended; pick WizSense where evidence is enough.
