§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-HDW3867EM-S-IL-ANZ is

The DH-IPC-HDW3867EM-S-IL-ANZ is the 8MP big brother of Dahua's WizSense Smart Dual Light turrets: 3840 × 2160 — true 4K, about a third more pixels than the 6MP HDW3667EM-S-IL, so faces, clothing and number plates stay readable when you zoom into playback instead of dissolving into blocks.

After dark it sits on discreet infrared (to 30 m) until SMD 4.0 confirms a person or vehicle, then flicks on a warm white light (also to 30 m) for full-colour footage of the moment that matters — no floodlight burning all night, nothing lighting up a neighbour's window.

It records audio through a built-in microphone but has no speaker and no siren — this is a watch-and-record camera, not an active-deterrence one. If you want strobe and talk-back at a gate, look at the TiOC HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO instead.

It's also AcuPick-ready: on an NVR4-series WizSense recorder you get SMD alerts and Quick Pick event search; pair it with an NVR5-series recorder — now or later — and AcuPick attribute search ("every person in a red top, this afternoon") unlocks without changing the camera. It can also record standalone to a microSD card up to 512 GB.

What the DH-IPC-HDW3867EM-S-IL-ANZ features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

8MP Ultra HD

8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

Dual-Light Night Vision

Combines infrared with a warm spotlight so it can light a scene in colour at night rather than relying on black-and-white alone — clearer, more useful footage when there's something to see.

Full Color Night Vision

Unlike plain black-and-white night vision, this camera can capture colour after dark — so you can pick out the actual colour of a car, a jacket or a bag, detail that grey infrared footage loses.

False Alarm Reduction

Filtering helps separate real activity from harmless movement like rain, leaves or pets, so you get fewer pointless notifications and the alerts that matter stand out.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-HDW3867EM-S-IL-ANZ

Faces and plates you can actually read

At 3840 × 2160 — true 4K — playback holds up when you zoom in. Clothing, faces and number plates stay readable, which is what makes footage worth handing to police.

Discreet IR until something happens

It sits on infrared all night. When a person or car is confirmed, the warm light fires and you get colour of the event — no light pollution the rest of the time.

Alerts about people and cars, not possums

SMD 4.0 deep learning filters animals, foliage and passing headlights before your phone goes off.

AcuPick-ready for later

Buy it for an NVR4 system today; if you ever move to an NVR5-series recorder, attribute search unlocks without replacing the camera.

Audio context, honestly framed

A built-in mic records sound alongside video — glass, voices, engines. No speaker though, so no two-way talk.

Built for Australian outdoors

IP67 metal housing rated –40 °C to +60 °C, with a microSD slot (to 512 GB) for edge backup.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Front entrance or porch

Under the eave at 2.5-3 m — out of reach, but low enough that the warm light still shows faces in colour.

Driveway or carport

4K keeps number plates readable on playback, day or night. The 3.6 mm lens option adds reach for long driveways.

Side gate or narrow walkway

The turret sits flat on a wall or soffit and covers the path most break-ins use, with alerts only for people — not cats.

Small retail shopfront

Entry and counter from a ceiling mount, with audio for context when there's a dispute.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

1 x DH-IPC-HDW3867EM-S-IL-ANZ camera, mounting screws and anchors, quick-start guide. Choose 2.8 mm or 3.6 mm lens and white or black housing in your order note.

02

Power and cable

One Cat5e/Cat6 run to a PoE port (802.3af, max 9.5 W) on your NVR or switch — up to 100 m. A 12 V DC adapter works too (sold separately).

03

Mounting

Solid wall or soffit at 2.5-3.5 m; the eyeball tilts and rotates to aim after mounting. Use the included screws for brick or timber, anchors for plasterboard.

04

Avoid night reflections

Don't aim it along a close wall or at glass — the IR and warm light can bounce back and wash out the image. Angle slightly away from reflective surfaces.

05

Do you need a sparkie?

Usually not for PoE — one data cable, no 240 V. Get a licensed electrician if the run goes through walls or roof space.

06

App setup

Power it, wait about a minute, then add it in the Dahua DMSS app by QR code — or let your Dahua NVR find it automatically.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-HDW3867EM-S-IL-ANZ

Q.01

Does this camera record in colour at night?

Yes. When it detects a person or vehicle, the warm-white light (to 30 m) turns on and gives full-colour footage; when the scene is quiet it holds discreet infrared (also to 30 m) to avoid light pollution. You can set the illuminator to infrared-only, automatic or event-triggered.
Q.02

What's the difference between this and the 6MP HDW3667EM-S-IL?

Resolution: 3840 × 2160 versus 3288 × 1850 — about a third more pixels over the same 110-degree view, so zoomed playback holds more detail. Dahua rates the identification distances the same at the same lens, so the 8MP buys you sharper evidence, not longer reach. Night vision, SMD 4.0, the mic and the housing are otherwise alike; see the 6MP version to compare prices.
Q.03

Which lens should I choose, 2.8 mm or 3.6 mm?

The 2.8 mm is the default: a wide 110-degree view for porches, driveways and yards at close range. The 3.6 mm sees a narrower 86 degrees but reaches further — identification at about 10 m versus 8.5 m — for long driveways, corridors and fence lines. Note your choice, plus white or black housing, in the order note.
Q.04

Will it work with my existing Dahua NVR?

Yes, with most current Dahua NVRs. On a WizSense NVR4-series you get SMD 4.0 alerts and Quick Pick event search; on an NVR5-series you get AcuPick attribute search as well. Older recorders may need a firmware update to recognise the newer camera.
Q.05

Does this camera support AcuPick search?

The camera is AcuPick-capable, but the search itself runs on the recorder — it needs a Dahua NVR5-series (or higher) AI recorder. Pair it with one now, or upgrade later, and attribute search unlocks without changing the camera.
Q.06

Does it pick up audio?

Yes. A built-in microphone records mono audio that you can hear in live view and playback through DMSS or your NVR. There is no speaker, so no two-way talk — for talk-back and a siren at a gate, look at the TiOC HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO instead. If it's a business site, check your state's audio-recording and disclosure rules.
Q.07

How is it powered?

PoE (802.3af) over a single Cat5e/Cat6 cable up to 100 m — from a PoE NVR or switch — or a separate 12 V DC adapter. Maximum draw is 9.5 W on PoE.
Q.08

How much storage does it need?

Recording 24/7 at full resolution, budget roughly half a terabyte per week per camera — a 4TB drive holds around a week and a half to two weeks from four cameras like this one. On motion-only recording that drops to roughly 8-12 GB a day depending on scene activity, so the same drive lasts several times longer. The camera also takes a local microSD card up to 512 GB — just under a week of 24/7 footage on its own.
Q.09

Can it record without an NVR at all?

Yes, to a microSD card up to 512 GB. Use a high-endurance surveillance card — a normal phone card will die inside a year of 24/7 writing.
Q.10

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

It supports ONVIF (Profile S, G, T and M) and CGI, so third-party ONVIF recorders can pull the stream. SMD 4.0, Quick Pick and AcuPick need a Dahua WizSense or NVR5-series recorder to work fully.
Q.11

Is it suitable for coastal areas?

IP67 covers rain, dust and heat, but there is no specific anti-corrosion coating. If you're right on the coast with salt spray, mount it under an eave or in a protective housing, and seal the cable join in a junction box such as the Dahua PFA139.
