§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO-ANZ is

Lens: 2.8mm.

The DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO-ANZ is the night-vision specialist of the TiOC range — what the channel calls TiOC PRO.

Its AI-ISP processing and large-pixel 8MP sensor rate colour at 0.0008 lux: five times less light than the standard S2 turret needs.

In practice that's the difference between a backyard that needs the warm light to show colour and one that holds colour off ambient sky glow alone.

The deterrence set matches the S2: red and blue lights, siren and voice warnings through the built-in speaker, warm-light full-colour event capture, two-way talk through dual mics, and one-tap disarming in DMSS.

The 2.8mm lens is the widest in the fixed turret family at 109°, identifying faces to about 8.2 metres, and AcuPick search works on compatible Dahua recorders.

MicroSD backup steps up to 512GB.

The honest question is whether you need it: infrared and warm light still reach 30 metres, same as the S2 — the PRO's gain is colour sensitivity, not range.

Spots with some ambient light do fine on the cheaper S2; the PRO earns its price on genuinely dark approaches.

PoE-powered (10W max, all features firing), metal IP67 housing rated -40°C to +60°C.

DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO-ANZ specifications

- 0.0008 lux Colour Rating: AI-ISP processing and a large-pixel sensor hold colour at light levels five times lower than the standard S2 turret.
- 109° Wide View: the widest fixed lens in the 3849 turret family, identifying faces to about 8.2 metres.
- Siren and Light Active Deterrence: red and blue lights plus voice alarms through the built-in speaker when a tripwire or intrusion zone is crossed.
- Smart Dual Illuminators: 30m infrared and 30m warm light — the warm light fires on detection and records the event in full colour.
- AcuPick Support + SMD 4.0: person-matching search on AcuPick-capable recorders; AI SSA re-tunes the image as conditions change.
- Two-Way Talk + 512GB MicroSD: dual mics and speaker in the DMSS app, with double the SD backup capacity of the S2.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO-ANZ

Colour where other cameras go grey

0.0008 lux is the strongest colour rating in the whole 3849 range — dark side paths and unlit yards that force other cameras into infrared stay in colour here, and colour detail is what identifies clothing and vehicles.

The full TiOC response, upgraded eyes

Same red and blue lights, siren voices, warm-light event capture and two-way talk as the S2 — wrapped around a sensor and AI-ISP that need a fifth of the light.

Widest view in the family

109° from the 2.8mm lens with faces identifiable to 8.2 metres — one corner mount covers more of the yard than any other fixed 3849 turret.

Pay for darkness, not for the badge

Honest guidance: where a porch light or street glow already helps, the cheaper S2 turret performs fine — the PRO earns its premium on approaches with no ambient light at all.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Unlit rear yards and side paths

The classic night blind spots with zero ambient light — the PRO holds colour where the S2 would switch to infrared, and the deterrence package still confronts anyone who enters.

Rural and acreage approaches

No street lighting for hundreds of metres; 0.0008 lux colour plus 30m illuminators cover house approaches, with SMD 4.0 filtering wildlife out of the alerts.

Dark commercial yards

Loading areas and laneways behind premises where lighting is poor and an after-hours voice warning matters — dual mics add audio evidence where state rules allow.

Wide frontage from one mount

The 109° view takes in a double garage, the path beside it and part of the lawn from a single corner — fewer cameras for the same coverage.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO-ANZ Camera × 1 2. Power Connector × 1 3. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: any 802.3af PoE NVR port or switch (6W typical, 10W max with the lights and speaker running). A separate 12V DC adapter is only needed without PoE. 2. Network: a wired Ethernet run back to your NVR or switch — PoE carries power and video together on the same line. 3. Mounting: solid wall, ceiling or eave at 2.5–3 metres. The optional PFA137 junction box keeps the connection weatherproof and makes future swaps a 2-minute job.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, create an account and scan the device QR code. 2. Enable push notifications, and keep the one-tap disarm switch handy for expected visitors. 3. Draw tripwire and intrusion zones tight to your own property through the camera's web interface — the warning voice, light behaviour and schedules live there too.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-PRO-ANZ

Q.01

What does the PRO actually add over the standard S2 turret?

Three things: colour sensitivity (0.0008 lux against the S2's 0.004 — five times less light needed), a wider 109° lens that identifies to 8.2 metres, and a 512GB MicroSD ceiling. Deterrence, two-way talk and AcuPick support are the same — the S2 remains the better-value pick where some ambient light exists.
Q.02

How do the deterrence features actually work?

When someone crosses a tripwire or enters an intrusion zone you've drawn, the camera reacts on the spot: the red and blue lights flash, the built-in speaker plays a siren or voice warning, and the warm light switches on so the whole event records in full colour. It ships with multiple warning voices and supports importing your own recordings.
Q.03

Can I turn the lights and siren off when I don't want them?

Yes — one-tap disarming in the DMSS app pauses all event linkage while you're expecting visitors, the web interface schedules deterrence by time of day or sets light-only with no sound, and there's a wired arm/disarm option through the alarm input for integrators.
Q.04

Will the siren and strobes annoy my neighbours?

They can if zones are drawn carelessly — this is a camera that reacts out loud. Draw tripwires and intrusion zones tight to your own property so footpath traffic never triggers them, schedule sound off overnight, or run light-only mode. If the camera would face a shared driveway or a tight terrace street, the quieter 3866 WizSense turret records the same AI events without the theatrics.
Q.05

How far can it see at night?

Colour holds down to 0.0008 lux — genuinely dark scenes that force other cameras into infrared. In total darkness the infrared illuminator covers 30 metres; when a person or vehicle is detected the 30-metre warm light takes over and the event records in full colour. The PRO's advantage is sensitivity, not range.
Q.06

What is AcuPick and what do I need to use it?

AcuPick is Dahua's newest search: pick a person or vehicle in playback and the recorder matches them across every camera and timeline in seconds. It needs an AcuPick-capable Dahua recorder — on the AI NVRs in our kits you get SMD 4.0 classification and Quick Pick search, which still pulls every human or vehicle event from a day of footage in one pass.
Q.07

Which NVR do I need for this camera?

Any current Dahua PoE NVR records it. SMD classification, Quick Pick search and full event linkage want an AI model such as the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ or DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ used in our kits.
Q.08

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

Yes — it is ONVIF conformant (Profile S, G and T). You keep video and basic motion events; SMD classification and the light-and-siren event linkage need a Dahua AI NVR.
Q.09

Can I use this camera without an NVR?

You can — it takes a MicroSD card up to 512GB (not included), streams to the DMSS app, and the deterrence features work stand-alone. Most buyers still pair it with an NVR for longer retention and AI search; treat the SD slot as backup.
Q.10

Can I talk through the camera from my phone?

Yes — dual built-in microphones and a speaker give genuine two-way talk through the DMSS app: hear what's happening and speak to whoever is there, live.
Q.11

Is a Dahua camera safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS and firmware encryption. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.
Q.12

Which 3849 turret should I buy?

Four turrets share the red and blue lights and siren voices. The HDW3849 S2 is the current TiOC 3.0 pick — 0.004 lux F1.0 colour, SMD 4.0 and AcuPick support — and it powers our 4, 6 and 8 camera kits. The PRO is the night specialist: colour rated to 0.0008 lux, five times less light needed than the S2. The ZAS adds a motorised 2.7–13.5mm zoom and 50m infrared for gates and long driveways. The S3 black is the previous generation — same lights and siren on older SMD 3.0 AI, without AcuPick or two-way talk.
Q.13

What warranty coverage applies in Australia?

The camera includes a 3-year warranty covering defects. Installation labour is not covered.

Recommended packages

01

Mix PRO and S2 to budget

Most properties only have one or two genuinely dark approaches — put the PRO there and run S2 turrets everywhere else on the same NVR; the AI features behave identically.

02

Build it into a system

Use the bundle builder on this page to pair the camera with a 4, 8 or 16 channel Dahua AI NVR and a surveillance drive in one order.

03

Long dark driveway instead?

If the problem is distance rather than darkness, the motorised ZAS turret zooms to 13.5mm and pushes infrared to 50 metres.
