What the DH-IPC-HDW2549EMP-S-PRO-ANZ is

This Dahua WizColor kit pairs six 5MP WizColor turret cameras with an 8-channel PoE NVR — no hard drive included (add one below to enable recording), sized for a medium-sized home or a busier small business where four cameras would leave gaps. Six viewpoints comfortably cover the front, both sides, the back, a garage and an additional area, and the 8-channel NVR still leaves two spare ports for a later addition.

Like the rest of the WizColor range, the cameras keep footage in full colour at night instead of switching to black-and-white infrared. A large 1/1.8 inch sensor, an F1.0 lens and a warm LED light the scene to about 30 m in colour, so you can identify vehicle colours, clothing and other detail after dark. Each camera can also be set to a black-and-white mode or have the warm light dimmed or scheduled if a visible light is unwelcome at a particular spot.

SMD and IVS analytics classify people and vehicles, cutting false alarms and letting you filter playback by event, and a built-in microphone on every camera records audio with the video. The cameras have no speaker, so they do not provide two-way talk. All six cameras are IP67 weatherproof, and the NVR powers and records each over a single network cable, with H.265+ compression stretching your chosen drive across many cameras.

Six cameras on an 8-channel recorder is a sensible middle ground: more coverage than the four-camera kits, with two channels still free, while the eight-camera kit fills the recorder completely for the largest single-NVR layout.

What's in the box

6 x DH-IPC-HDW2549EMP-S-PRO-ANZ 5MP WizColor cameras, one DHI-NVR4108HS-8P 8-channel PoE NVR (no HDD included — add a hard drive to enable recording), camera mounting bases and waterproofing glands, and a power lead for the NVR. Network (Cat5e/Cat6) cable, brackets and junction boxes are not included.

Installation requirements

Mount each camera 2.5 to 3 m high, angled down over the area you want to watch, and run one Cat5e/Cat6 cable from each camera back to a PoE port on the NVR (keep each run under 100 m). The NVR powers and connects every camera over that single cable, so no camera needs a separate power supply within 100 m. Connect the NVR to your TV or monitor by HDMI, run through the start-up wizard, set the recording schedule, and add the DMSS app for remote viewing. Seal each outdoor connector with the supplied gland, and use a Dahua junction box where a tidy, weatherproof cable join is needed.

Is six cameras the right number for my home?
Six cameras suit a medium to larger home where four would leave gaps: think front door, both side accesses, the back yard, a garage or shed, and one more area such as a pool or driveway entrance. With an 8-channel NVR you also keep two spare ports for one or two more cameras later.
Q.02

How many more cameras can I add?
Two more, for a total of eight. The NVR has eight PoE ports and this kit uses six, leaving two spare channels. If you expect to need more than eight cameras in total, look at the 16-channel kits instead, which leave far more room to grow.
Q.03

Do the cameras record in colour at night?
Yes. These WizColor cameras use a warm LED, a large sensor and a bright F1.0 lens to keep footage in full colour to about 30 m after dark, rather than grey infrared. If you would prefer no visible light at a given camera, you can switch it to black-and-white mode, which then relies on ambient lighting.

Is the hard drive included and how long will it record?
No — a hard drive is not included with this kit. A hard drive is required for recording; add one to your order below. Across six 5MP cameras with H.265+ compression, expect roughly a couple of weeks of continuous recording, and considerably longer on motion or smart recording. You can fit a larger drive if you need longer retention.

Are cables and brackets supplied?
No. Each of the six cameras needs one Cat5e or Cat6 cable back to a PoE port on the NVR, bought to suit your run lengths, and brackets or junction boxes are separate. Keep each run under 100 m for reliable PoE.

Do the cameras have two-way audio?
Each camera has a built-in microphone that records sound with the video, but there is no speaker, so there is no two-way talk through the cameras. The audio still adds helpful context to recordings.

Can I view all six cameras on my phone?
Yes. The NVR connects to the Dahua DMSS app, so you can see live and recorded video from all six cameras anywhere with internet, and get push alerts when the AI detects a person or vehicle.
Q.08

Will the AI reduce nuisance alerts?
Yes. SMD 4.0 and WizSense classify human and vehicle movement, so alerts and recording follow people and cars rather than pets, weather or foliage. Tripwire and intrusion zones let you flag only the areas that matter on each camera.
