What the DH-IPC-HDW2549EMP-S-PRO-ANZ is

This Dahua WizColor kit gives you four 5MP WizColor turret cameras on an 8-channel PoE NVR — no hard drive included (add one below to enable recording) — which makes it the smart pick when you want to start with four cameras but leave clear room to expand.

The NVR has eight PoE ports, so with four cameras included you have four spare channels ready for more cameras whenever you add them, no recorder upgrade needed.

The cameras keep footage in full colour at night rather than switching to black-and-white infrared.

WizColor combines a large 1/1.8 inch sensor, an F1.0 lens and a warm LED to light the scene to about 30 m in colour, so number plates, vehicle colours and clothing stay identifiable after dark.

If a visible light at night is a problem, each camera can run in black-and-white mode or have the warm light dimmed or scheduled.

SMD and IVS analytics classify people and vehicles to cut false alarms and let you filter playback by event type, and each camera has a built-in microphone to record audio with the video.

There is no speaker, so the cameras do not provide two-way talk.

The IP67 cameras suit Australian outdoor conditions, and the NVR powers and records each camera over a single network cable.

Compared with the 4-channel kit, this 8-channel version costs a little more but saves you from replacing the recorder later: it is the better choice if there is any chance you will want a fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth camera down the track.

What's in the box

4 x DH-IPC-HDW2549EMP-S-PRO-ANZ 5MP WizColor cameras, one DHI-NVR4108HS-8P 8-channel PoE NVR (no HDD included — add a hard drive to enable recording), camera mounting bases and waterproofing glands, and a power lead for the NVR. Network (Cat5e/Cat6) cable, brackets and junction boxes are not included.

Installation requirements

Mount each camera 2.5 to 3 m high, angled down over the area you want to watch, and run one Cat5e/Cat6 cable from each camera back to a PoE port on the NVR (keep each run under 100 m). The NVR powers and connects every camera over that single cable, so no camera needs a separate power supply within 100 m. Connect the NVR to your TV or monitor by HDMI, run through the start-up wizard, set the recording schedule, and add the DMSS app for remote viewing. Seal each outdoor connector with the supplied gland, and use a Dahua junction box where a tidy, weatherproof cable join is needed.

Is a hard drive included?
No — a hard drive is not included with this kit. A hard drive is required for recording; add one to your order below. Four 5MP cameras with H.265+ compression will typically get several weeks of continuous recording from 4 TB, and longer on motion or smart recording. If you later expand to eight cameras you may want a larger drive.

Are network cables and brackets included?
No. Each camera needs one Cat5e or Cat6 cable back to a PoE port on the NVR, bought to suit your run lengths, and any wall brackets or junction boxes are separate. Keep each cable run under 100 m for reliable PoE power and data.

Each camera has a built-in microphone that records audio with the video, but there is no speaker, so the cameras do not offer two-way talk. The microphone adds useful context to recorded incidents.
