What's in every Hikvision CCTV kit:

• AcuSense IP cameras (4, 6, or 8 depending on kit size) — typically DS-2CD2366G2 (6MP) or DS-2CD2386G2 (8MP 4K) series, with ColorVu / Smart Hybrid Light variants in select kits
• Hikvision M-Series NVR with built-in PoE switch
• Pre-installed WD Purple surveillance-grade hard drive (typically 4TB)

Choosing the Right Hikvision Kit Size

4-camera kit — Standard 3-bedroom home. Covers front door + back door + driveway + side gate. Use 8-channel NVR variant if you plan to expand.

6-camera kit — Larger home or properties with detached garage / pool / backyard requiring dedicated coverage. 8-channel NVR with 2 spare ports for future expansion.

8-camera kit — Full perimeter coverage for larger properties, dual-occupancy dwellings, and small commercial sites. Eliminates blind spots around the entire boundary.

6MP vs 4K kits: 6MP is the residential sweet spot — sharp facial detail at 5-15m with efficient storage. 4K (8MP) is needed for licence plate capture and front-door identification at extended range. Mixed kits possible — 6MP across most positions, 4K on the driveway camera.

Compared with other brands: Dahua CCTV kits offer TiOC active deterrence variants (siren + strobe). HiLook CCTV kits from $399 are the budget choice with the same Hik-Connect app ecosystem.
