Installation & setup

What is the difference between the ColorVu and AcuSense cameras in this kit?
The two 8MP ColorVu turrets keep the night image in full colour using a warm white light and a large F1.0 lens, and they add two-way audio and a strobe-and-audio deterrent, so they suit the front door and driveway where colour detail and deterrence matter. The four 6MP AcuSense turrets use infrared night vision, so they record in black and white after dark, and focus on deep-learning human and vehicle detection. Both types cut false alarms with AI; the ColorVu cameras simply add colour night vision, audio and active deterrence at the key angles.

Is a hard drive included?
Yes. This kit ships with a 4TB surveillance-grade hard drive already fitted in the DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR, so it is ready to record out of the box. In typical use 4TB stores roughly a week or more of continuous footage from all six cameras, depending on the resolution, frame rate and how busy the scenes are. You can fit a larger drive if you need longer retention.

Do the cameras record in colour at night?
The two 8MP ColorVu cameras do; they use a warm white light to capture full-colour footage at night. The four 6MP AcuSense turrets use infrared, so their night image is black and white. A common setup is to place the ColorVu cameras at the front door and driveway for colour and deterrence, and use the AcuSense turrets for the sides, rear and yard.

How are the cameras powered and wired?
Each camera connects to the NVR with a single Cat5e or Cat6 network cable that carries both power and data, using the NVR's eight built-in PoE ports. There is no separate power supply at each camera, which keeps the install tidy. You only need mains power at the NVR itself.

Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The kit uses six of the NVR's eight channels and PoE ports, so you can add up to two more Hikvision PoE cameras directly to the recorder later. If you outgrow eight channels, you would step up to a 16-channel NVR such as the DS-7616NI-M2/16P.
Q.06

Does it have two-way audio across all cameras?
Two-way audio is on the two 8MP ColorVu cameras, which have both a microphone and a speaker, so you can listen and talk back through those positions. The four 6MP AcuSense turrets have a built-in microphone that records audio but no speaker, so they capture sound without talk-back.

Can I view it on my phone and is it AcuSense throughout?
Yes. The system connects to the Hik-Connect app for live view, playback and alerts on your phone or tablet. AcuSense runs across the cameras and the NVR, so you can filter recordings by people or vehicles to find an event quickly rather than scrubbing through every motion clip.

Is it suitable for Australian outdoor conditions?
Yes. All six cameras carry an IP67 rating against dust and rain and are built for outdoor mounting. Positioning them under eaves where possible helps reduce direct sun and glare and keeps rain off the lenses for the clearest footage.

You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request a change-of-mind return. Items must be unopened, factory-sealed and in resalable condition. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost. Faulty or incorrectly supplied items are different: we cover the return shipping and refund or replace at no charge.
