This 6-camera 4K ColorVu 3.0 kit pairs six DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL turrets, the flagship of our Hikvision 8MP range, with the 8-channel DS-7608NI-M2/8P recorder and a pre-installed 4TB surveillance drive.

Six cameras suits a two-storey home or a corner block: the four approaches plus the porch close-up and the blind side a four-camera layout leaves open. Every position records 4K colour at night (0.0005 lux F1.0 with Smart Hybrid Light) and fights back, a strobe and a spoken warning the moment a line is crossed, with two-way talk through dual mics from Hik-Connect. NEMA 4X housings suit coastal sites.

Installation Requirements

1. Each camera needs one Ethernet run back to the NVR, the PoE ports carry power and video together, up to 100m per run. 2. Mount on a solid wall or eave; under-eave positions keep lenses clear of direct rain and afternoon sun. 3. Connect the NVR to your router with a short Ethernet patch lead for remote viewing, works on all NBN connection types.

App Setup

1. Activate the NVR with a strong password on first boot, then add it to the Hik-Connect app by scanning the QR code on the NVR screen. 2. Enable push notifications, pick each camera's lighting mode (white, infrared or smart), and set strobe and audio schedules so deterrence sleeps when you do. 3. Draw each camera's line crossing and intrusion zones tight to your own property, with target type set to human and vehicle, zones are what fire the strobe and warnings.

Is the 6-camera kit ready to use out of the box?
Yes, the surveillance drive comes installed and formatted, and the PoE ports power all six cameras including their lights and speakers. Mount the cameras, run one Ethernet line from each to the NVR, and recording starts automatically at default settings.

How long will the included 4TB drive keep footage from six cameras?
Roughly 12 days of continuous recording from six 8MP cameras (an estimate around 50GB per camera per day at 4K), and much longer on motion-only recording. The NVR overwrites the oldest footage automatically, and for longer retention you can upgrade the drive with the kit customiser before checkout.

Can I add more cameras later?
Yes, the 8CH NVR has two spare PoE channels, and any current Hikvision PoE camera plugs straight in. The same G3 turret keeps deterrence consistent, or add the G2P panoramic for a wide frontage.

How does deterrence work across six cameras?
Each camera runs its own line crossing and intrusion zones, the one that detects fires its strobe and plays an audible warning through its speaker, and in smart lighting mode the white light switches on so the event records in full colour. Schedules per camera let deterrence sleep overnight or only arm after close.

Will the strobes and warnings annoy the neighbours?
They can if zones are drawn carelessly, so draw each camera's zones tight to your own property, schedule audio off overnight, or set individual cameras to alert-only. The white supplement light is also part of night colour: aim cameras into your own property, or run infrared mode where visible light is unwelcome.

Can I choose infrared instead of the white light?
Yes, and per camera, so the driveway can run smart mode while the bedroom side stays on quiet infrared. The three lighting modes are explained in full on the camera page.

How far can the cameras see at night?

Is the NVR's PoE budget enough for six of these cameras?
Yes for normal operation, the M-series ports supply 802.3af and at, and each G3 camera only approaches its 17W peak in the moment its strobe, white light and speaker all fire together. The recorder shares its PoE budget across ports, so a layout where every camera triggers everything simultaneously is the theoretical corner. If you plan one giant shared zone, power the cameras from an 802.3at switch instead.

Can I talk through the cameras from my phone?
Yes, every camera carries arrayed dual microphones and a speaker, giving two-way talk through the Hik-Connect app on whichever camera you open.

What does the NVR actually do beyond recording?
It powers every camera over its PoE ports, keeps all channels on one timeline with classified events flagged for fast review, and handles remote viewing through Hik-Connect, one app for live view, playback, alerts and two-way talk.

Do I need to pay any subscription?
No. Recording, detection, deterrence and remote viewing through the Hik-Connect app all run on your own hardware, no monthly fees and no cloud account requirement beyond the free app login.

Will it work without internet?
Yes. Cameras record to the NVR on a closed local network, and the strobes and warnings still fire on local detection. Internet is only needed for remote viewing and push notifications.

Is a Hikvision system safe to use in Australia?
Hikvision equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This kit records locally to its own NVR, needs no cloud account, and supports HTTPS and TLS encryption. On an isolated network it still records normally.

What does the 3-year warranty cover?
Defects in the cameras and NVR for 3 years. The hard drive carries its own manufacturer warranty terms, and installation labour is not covered.

Is the 8MP version worth it over the 6MP kits?
The 8MP G3 records 4K (3840 by 2160) for more detail across a wide scene, which helps where one camera covers a broad frontage. The 6MP 2367 G3 is the value step down with the same deterrence and lighting where 4K storage is not wanted.

Where do six cameras go?
The four approaches, front entry, driveway, backyard and side path, plus the two positions a four-camera layout leaves open: a porch close-up for faces and parcels, and the blind side or rear lane. On a two-storey home the extra pair can instead watch the upper-level approaches or a granny flat.

Should I get the 4-camera or the 8-camera kit instead?
Count the approaches a person can actually take onto your block. Four closes a compact single-storey layout, the 4-camera kit covers that for less. Eight is every external wall of a large home or business, that is the 8-camera kit, which uses the recorder's last two channels. Six, with two channels spare, is the middle path most family homes land on.
