This is the entry point to our 4K ColorVu deterrence range: four DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL turrets, the same flagship camera our biggest kits use, on the compact 4-channel DS-7604NI-M1/4P recorder. No hard drive is included, add a surveillance drive to enable recording.

Four cameras closes every approach of a townhouse, unit or compact single-storey home, and nothing at this price is de-specced: every position records 4K colour at night (0.0005 lux F1.0 with Smart Hybrid Light) and answers intruders with a strobe and a spoken warning, with two-way talk through dual mics and speakers in Hik-Connect. NEMA 4X housings handle coastal air.

The honest trade against the 8-channel version is headroom: all four channels are used on day one, so there is no port for a camera you add later. If the system might grow, the 8-channel kit costs about $270 more and keeps four spare ports. Four 8MP streams fill a 4TB drive in roughly two and a half weeks of continuous recording, much longer on motion-only.

  2. Installation Requirements

    • Each camera needs one Ethernet run back to the NVR, the PoE ports carry power and video together, up to 100m per run.
    • Mount on a solid wall or eave; under-eave positions keep lenses clear of direct rain and afternoon sun.
    • Connect the NVR to your router with a short Ethernet patch lead for remote viewing, works on all NBN connection types.

  3. App Setup

    • Activate the NVR with a strong password on first boot, then add it to the Hik-Connect app by scanning the QR code on the NVR screen.
    • Enable push notifications, pick each camera's lighting mode (white, infrared or smart), and set strobe and audio schedules so deterrence sleeps when you do.
    • Draw each camera's line crossing and intrusion zones tight to your own property, with target type set to human and vehicle, zones are what fire the strobe and warnings.

Is the 4-channel kit ready to use out of the box?
Almost. A hard drive is not included, so add a 2TB or 4TB surveillance drive to enable recording. The PoE ports power all four cameras including their lights and speakers: mount, run one Ethernet line per camera, and recording starts at default settings once the drive is in.

How long will a hard drive keep footage from four cameras?
Four 8MP streams fill a 4TB surveillance drive in roughly two and a half weeks of continuous recording, and a 2TB drive in about half that. Motion-only recording stretches either several times over, and the recorder overwrites the oldest footage automatically.

Can I add more cameras later?
Not on this recorder, all four channels are used on day one. If the system might grow, start on the 8-channel version of this kit instead: same four cameras, four spare ports, about $270 more.

Should I buy the 4-channel or the 8-channel kit?
Buy this one when four positions genuinely close the property, a townhouse, unit or compact single-storey block, and the budget matters. Buy the 8-channel kit when there is any chance of adding a camera, because adding a fifth camera here means replacing the recorder, not just buying a camera.

What is the actual night vision range?

Does the strobe trigger on animals or passing traffic?
No, deep-learning classification fires the strobe and audible warning only on a person or vehicle inside the zones you draw, so possums, rain and headlights stay quiet. Draw zones tight to your own property and schedule audio off overnight if you prefer.

Is this kit suitable for coastal installation?
Yes. Every camera carries IP67 weatherproofing plus a NEMA 4X anti-corrosion rating, suited to coastal suburbs roughly 2 kilometres from the shoreline. Seal each base on mounting and the housings shrug off salt air that pits standard cameras.

How far can each camera be from the recorder?
Up to 100 metres of Cat6 per run, with the PoE port carrying power and video on the same line. Longer runs need a PoE extender or a powered switch partway.

Can I see the cameras from my phone?
Yes, through the free Hik-Connect app: live view, playback, push alerts and two-way talk through each camera's dual mics and speaker. No subscription and no monthly fees.

Will it work without internet?
Yes. Cameras record to the recorder on a closed local network and the strobes and warnings still fire on local detection. Internet is only needed for remote viewing and notifications.

Is a Hikvision system safe to use in Australia?
Hikvision equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This kit records locally, needs no cloud account, and on an isolated network it still records normally.

What does the 3-year warranty cover?
Defects in the cameras and recorder for 3 years through our authorised ANZ channel. A hard drive you add carries its own manufacturer warranty, and installation labour is not covered.

Is there a cheaper version of this kit?
Yes, the 6MP 2367 G3 version keeps the same deterrence, lighting modes and AI on the same 4-channel recorder, trading 4K resolution for a lower price and lighter storage use.

You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request a change-of-mind return. Items must be unopened, factory-sealed and in resalable condition. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost. Faulty or incorrectly supplied items are different: we cover the return shipping and refund or replace at no charge.
