01Overview
What the DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU is
This Hikvision 8 MP 8-channel kit is a six-camera vandal dome system for a larger home or business. It pairs six DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU AcuSense dome cameras with an eight-channel PoE NVR, so each camera connects on a single network cable. Because the recorder has eight channels and the kit uses six, there are two spare channels for adding cameras later.
The cameras are the strength of this kit. Each is an 8 MP (4K) dome with DarkFighter low-light imaging for clean detail in dim scenes, AcuSense deep learning that classifies human and vehicle targets so alerts and searches ignore rain, shadows and animals, and a 120 dB wide dynamic range that holds detail against bright backlight. The metal housing is IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal-resistant, so these domes suit accessible and public-facing positions such as entrances, shopfronts and car parks where a camera could be knocked or tampered with. Each camera also has a built-in microphone, so the kit can record audio alongside the video.
A couple of honest notes so it is set up correctly. At night these are infrared cameras with a 30 metre range, so the picture is black and white, not full colour; DarkFighter improves low-light quality but this is not a white-light ColorVu kit. The cameras have a built-in microphone for audio recording; they are not sold here as a two-way intercom, so confirm your audio needs if talkback matters. The eight-channel recorder has dual hard-drive bays; H.265+ compression keeps storage efficient, and storage capacity can be chosen to suit your recording needs.

What the DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU features actually look like
Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.
8MP Ultra HD
8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.
30m IR Night Vision
Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.
False Alarm Reduction
Filtering helps separate real activity from harmless movement like rain, leaves or pets, so you get fewer pointless notifications and the alerts that matter stand out.
Human/Vehicle Detection
Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

04Why choose this
Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU
Built to take a hit
IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal-resistant metal domes suit accessible, public-facing positions where a camera could be knocked.
Room to grow
Two spare channels and dual drive bays let you add cameras and storage later without replacing the system.
Fewer false alarms
AcuSense human and vehicle classification keeps alerts and searches focused on people and vehicles, not weather or animals.
05Where it fits
Right at home in these scenarios
Larger homes
Cover the front, back, sides and yard of a bigger property with six 4K cameras and people and vehicle alerts.
Shops and retail
Tamper-resistant dome coverage of entrances, aisles, tills and stockrooms with audio context.
Offices and reception
Discreet domes over entries, corridors and waiting areas with strong backlight handling.
Car parks and common areas
Impact-resistant 4K cameras for accessible public spots, with channels to spare for more coverage.
06Setup
Installation & setup
-
01
In the box
Six DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU dome cameras, the eight-channel PoE NVR, power supply and mounting accessories. Connect a monitor for local viewing.
-
02
Cabling
Run one network cable from each camera to a PoE port on the NVR. Standard Ethernet runs apply, and a PoE switch can extend reach or add ports for the spare channels.
-
03
Mounting
Fix each dome to a ceiling, wall or eave covering the area you want watched, within the 30 metre infrared range, and adjust the lens angle inside the housing.
-
04
Setup
Connect the NVR to a screen and the network, add the cameras on the plug-and-play PoE ports, set the AcuSense human and vehicle rules and recording schedule, and set up remote viewing in the Hik-Connect app.
08Questions
Frequently asked about the DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU
Q.01
What cameras and recorder are included?
The kit includes 6 DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU AcuSense cameras and one DS-7608NI-M2/8P eight-channel PoE NVR. Each camera connects to the NVR with one Ethernet cable for power and video.
Q.02
Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The recorder is an eight-channel NVR and the kit uses six channels, so there are two spare PoE ports and channels for more cameras. Beyond eight cameras you would step up to a larger recorder, such as a sixteen-channel NVR, and add a PoE switch for the extra ports.
Q.03
What does the IK10 rating add over a normal camera?
IK10 is the highest common impact rating, so the dome housing is built to take knocks, kicks and tampering. Combined with IP67 weather sealing, it makes these cameras a strong fit for accessible and public spots such as entrances, shopfronts, stairwells and car parks where a camera might be hit.
Q.04
Do the cameras record sound?
Yes. Each DS-2CD2186G2H-ISU has a built-in microphone, so the kit can record audio alongside the video for added context during incident review. Confirm that recording audio is permitted for your site before enabling it.
Q.05
Do the cameras film in colour at night?
Not in the dark. They use DarkFighter low-light imaging for clean detail in dim conditions, but at night they switch to 30 metre infrared, so the image is black and white. For full-colour footage all night you would choose a ColorVu kit with white-light cameras.
Q.06
What does AcuSense do for me?
AcuSense uses on-camera deep learning to classify human and vehicle targets and ignore other movement such as rain, leaves or animals. The system alerts you to what matters, cuts false alarms, and lets you search recordings by human or vehicle events instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.
Q.07
Is 8 MP worth it over a lower-resolution kit?
8 MP (4K) gives roughly four times the detail of a 1080p camera, so you can zoom into a recorded scene and still read a face or a number plate within range. On domes covering entrances, tills and car parks, that extra detail is what turns footage into usable evidence.
