§ 01Overview

What this product is

Lens options: 2.8mm focal length.
Color options: White or Black.
Note: Please indicate your choice in your order message.

This 6-camera WizSense kit pairs six DH-IPC-HDW3666EMP-S-AUS 6MP turrets with the 8-channel DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ recorder and a pre-installed 4TB surveillance drive — recording starts as soon as the cameras are plugged in.

Six cameras suits a two-storey home or a corner block: the four approaches plus the porch and the blind side a four-camera setup leaves open. Each turret holds colour video down to 0.005 lux, switches to 30m infrared in full darkness, and SMD 4.0 classifies humans and vehicles so the recorder only alerts on what matters.

The 8CH NVR keeps two spare PoE channels, so a camera over the pool or shed later is plug-and-play — use the kit customiser on this page to extend this kit before checkout.

Technical specifications

- 6 x 6MP WizSense Turrets: 3072 × 2048 Starlight sensors with F1.4 aperture — colour images in near-darkness, 30m IR beyond that.
- 8CH AI NVR: DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ with PoE on every channel — each camera runs off a single Ethernet run from the recorder.
- 4TB Surveillance HDD pre-installed: around 2 weeks of continuous footage from six cameras, far longer on motion-only recording.
- SMD 4.0 + Quick Pick: the NVR's AI search pulls every human or vehicle event from a day of recordings in one pass.
- Perimeter Protection: tripwire and intrusion zones with human/vehicle classification, configured per camera.
- IP67 Metal Housings: rated from -40°C to +60°C for exposed Australian mounting positions.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use it

01

Everything in one box, recording day one

Cameras, AI recorder and a pre-installed 4TB drive arrive matched and ready — no compatibility guesswork, no separate HDD purchase, no subscriptions.

02

Alerts that are worth opening

SMD 4.0 classifies humans and vehicles before notifying you, so the 2am alert is a person in your driveway — not a possum, headlights or rain.

03

Covers what four cameras miss

Six cameras closes the gaps a four-corner layout leaves: the porch close-up and the blind side path are usually the first two added — here they're included from day one.

04

Two channels spare for later

The 8CH NVR powers all six cameras and keeps two PoE channels free, so extending to the pool, shed or granny flat later is plug-and-play.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

01

Two-storey family home

Four corners plus the front porch and balcony side — six cameras covers the approaches and the close-ups, with faces identifiable inside 6 metres.

02

Corner block

Street frontage on two sides means more approaches to watch. Six cameras covers both frontages, the driveway and the rear without leaving a blind side.

03

Small business premises

Entry, counter, storeroom, rear door and both external walls on one recorder. Built-in mics add audio where conversations matter — check your state's recording rules before enabling them.

04

Acreage house yard

Cover the house approaches and the carport or machinery shed near the house — and keep two channels spare for the front gate later.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3666EMP-S-AUS Camera × 6 2. DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ NVR with 4TB HDD installed × 1 3. NVR Power Adapter × 1 4. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Each camera needs one Ethernet run back to the NVR — the PoE ports carry power and video together, up to 100m per run. 2. Mount on a solid wall or eave; under-eave positions keep lenses clear of direct rain and afternoon sun. 3. Connect the NVR to your router with a short Ethernet patch lead for remote viewing — works on all NBN connection types.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, then scan the QR code shown on the NVR screen (Main Menu → Network → P2P). 2. Enable push notifications in DMSS so SMD alerts reach your phone. 3. Fine-tune detection zones per camera through the NVR or camera web interface.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked

Q.01

Is this kit ready to use out of the box?

Yes — the 4TB drive comes installed and formatted, and the PoE ports power all six cameras. Mount the cameras, run one Ethernet line from each to the NVR, and recording starts automatically at default settings.
Q.02

How long will the 4TB drive keep footage?

Around 2 weeks of continuous recording from six 6MP cameras, and a month or more on motion-only recording. The NVR overwrites the oldest footage automatically when the drive fills. If you need longer retention, upgrade the drive with the kit customiser before checkout.
Q.03

Can I add more cameras later?

Yes — the 8CH NVR has two spare PoE channels, and any current Dahua PoE camera plugs straight in. To keep AI features consistent, the same HDW3666 turret is the natural choice — you can also add cameras to this kit before checkout with the kit customiser.
Q.04

How far can the cameras see at night?

Each turret holds colour video down to 0.005 lux thanks to its F1.4 aperture, then switches to infrared with a 30-metre range in full darkness. Fast-moving subjects at night can show motion blur — a sensor light at key spots keeps colour and detail up.
Q.05

Can the cameras identify faces and number plates?

With the 2.8mm lens, faces are reliably identifiable within about 6 metres — right for doors and entries where people come close. Number plates are harder: glare and headlights work against any camera at night, so aim a camera straight down the driveway at close range if plates matter.
Q.06

Should I choose a WizSense camera or a TiOC camera?

Both run the same Dahua AI — human and vehicle classification, SMD 4.0 and perimeter protection. The difference is how they respond. This kit's WizSense IR turrets record quietly: colour in low light, infrared in darkness. A TiOC camera such as the HDW3649 actively intervenes — when someone enters a detection zone it switches on a warm white light to record the event in full colour, can flash red and blue strobes, sound a siren, and lets you talk through its speaker from the DMSS app. Pick TiOC where you want intruders confronted; pick this kit's quieter turrets where you just want solid evidence and alerts.
Q.07

What's the difference between the 3666, the 3649 and the 3866?

All three are Dahua 3-series WizSense turrets with the same AI features and 30m night range. The 3666 (the cameras in this kit) is the quiet 6MP IR model with a microphone only. The 3649 is the 6MP TiOC: a warm light comes on to capture detected events in full colour, plus red and blue strobes, a siren and two-way talk — the deterrence pick. The 3866 is the 8MP (4K) model: it identifies faces out to about 8.8 metres versus 6.4 metres on these cameras, giving noticeably more detail when zooming into footage. As a rule: 3666 for value and evidence, 3649 to deter, 3866 for maximum detail.
Q.08

What does the AI NVR actually do beyond recording?

Three things: it classifies SMD alerts so only humans and vehicles notify you, Quick Pick search pulls every person or vehicle event from hours of footage in one pass, and it runs tripwire and intrusion zones per camera. It also powers all six cameras over its PoE ports.
Q.09

Does SMD 4.0 really reduce false alarms from animals and weather?

Yes. SMD 4.0 uses AI to distinguish humans and vehicles from small animals, tree movement and rain, and AI SSA re-tunes the image in rain, fog and backlight, so far fewer junk notifications get through than basic motion detection.
Q.10

Do I need to pay any subscription?

No. Recording, AI detection and remote viewing through the DMSS app all run on your own hardware — no monthly fees and no cloud account requirement.
Q.11

Can I view the cameras on my phone away from home?

Yes — enable P2P on the NVR, scan the QR code in the DMSS app, and live view plus playback work over the internet. The system also works fully offline if you prefer no outside access.
Q.12

Will it work without internet?

Yes. Cameras record to the NVR on a closed local network. Internet is only needed for remote viewing and push notifications.
Q.13

Is a Dahua system safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This kit records locally to its own NVR, needs no cloud account, and supports HTTPS and encrypted firmware. On an isolated network it still records normally.
Q.14

What does the 3-year warranty cover?

Defects in the cameras and NVR for 3 years. The hard drive carries its own manufacturer warranty terms, and installation labour is not covered.
