Description

This TP-Link VIGI kit pairs four InSight S455 5MP full-colour turret cameras with a VIGI NVR1004H-4P 4-channel PoE recorder — a complete system for covering the main approaches of a home or small business. Each camera records in colour around the clock to about 30 metres, classifies people and vehicles to cut false alerts, and has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio and active deterrence. The PoE NVR powers and connects all four cameras over a single cable each. No hard drive is included, so you can choose the storage that suits you.

What the kit-tp-link-vigi4x5mp4ch is

This TP-Link VIGI 5MP kit is a complete four-camera system for the main approaches of a home or small business — front, back, drive and side, or the corners of a shop.

It brings together four InSight S455 5MP full-colour turret cameras and the VIGI NVR1004H-4P, a 4-channel recorder with built-in PoE so every camera connects over a single network cable that carries both power and data.

The S455 cameras record in full colour 24/7.

A high-sensitivity sensor with white LEDs holds colour to about 30 metres at night, with infrared on hand for a discreet view, and AI classification of people and vehicles keeps notifications meaningful instead of firing on animals, branches or shadows.

A built-in microphone and speaker on each camera give you two-way audio for listening, speaking and sounding an audible warning to deter someone live.

The IP67 metal housings handle outdoor weather, and H.265+ compression keeps the four streams efficient on storage.

The recorder does not include a hard drive — add a surveillance-grade drive sized to your cameras and retention; a 4TB drive is a common starting point for four cameras recording continuously, with 6TB for longer keep times.

And this kit uses all four NVR channels, so to add more cameras later you would step up to an 8-channel NVR, which is offered as a +upgrade for this kit.

The cameras ship with the 2.8 mm wide lens, with a 4 mm option on request in the order comments.

TP-Link VIGI is NDAA compliant, and the kit is genuine stock with a local 3-year warranty.

What's in the box

Four VIGI InSight S455 turret cameras (2.8 mm) with mounting accessories, one VIGI NVR1004H-4P recorder and guides. A hard drive, network cables and a monitor are supplied separately.

Installation requirements

Mount the four cameras over the approaches you want, run one network cable from each to the NVR's PoE ports, and fit a surveillance-grade hard drive before recording. Configure the system in the VIGI app or on a monitor, then test each view and the night mode before relying on it.

Q.01

Is a hard drive included with this kit?
No. The NVR1004H-4P comes without a hard drive so you can match storage to your needs. Add a surveillance-grade drive such as a WD Purple or Seagate Skyhawk; a 4TB drive is a common starting point for four cameras recording continuously, with 6TB or larger for longer retention.

Does this kit record in full colour at night?
Yes. All four S455 cameras keep full colour in low light using white LEDs to around 30 metres, and can switch to 850 nm infrared, also to 30 metres, for a discreet view. Colour night footage makes identifying clothing and vehicle details much easier than infrared-only cameras.

Can I add more cameras to this system?
This kit uses all four channels of the NVR. To add more cameras you would move up to an 8-channel recorder, which is offered as an upgrade for this kit and gives room for up to four extra cameras without replacing it later.

How does the two-way audio and active deterrence work?
Each camera has a built-in microphone and speaker. Through the VIGI app you can listen to the scene and speak back, and on a detected person or vehicle the camera can flash its light and sound an alarm to warn the intruder off and notify you.
Q.05

Will the cameras work with a non-VIGI recorder?
Yes. They support ONVIF and RTSP, so they can be added to a third-party NVR, NAS or software that supports ONVIF, including many Hikvision and Dahua recorders. For the full smart-event and management features, the included VIGI NVR is recommended.
Q.06

What lens do the cameras use, and can I change it?
They ship with the 2.8 mm wide-angle lens for a 111.4° view of open areas. A 4 mm option is available for a tighter, longer view — note it in the order comments at checkout and the correct cameras will be supplied.

Is the kit suitable for outdoor use, and is it NDAA compliant?
Yes on both. The cameras carry IP67-rated metal housings for rain, dust and heat, and TP-Link VIGI is NDAA compliant, which suits sites with approved-hardware requirements. The kit is genuine stock with a local 3-year warranty.
