Description

This TP-Link VIGI kit pairs two InSight S455 5MP full-colour turret cameras with a VIGI NVR1004H-4P 4-channel PoE recorder — a tidy two-camera system for a home or small site. Each camera records in colour around the clock to about 30 metres, classifies people and vehicles to cut false alerts, and has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio and active deterrence. The PoE NVR powers and connects both cameras over a single cable each. No hard drive is included, so you can choose the storage that suits you, and the recorder has two spare channels for adding cameras later.

What the kit-tp-link-vigi2x5mp4ch is

This TP-Link VIGI 5MP kit is a complete two-camera system for covering a couple of key spots — a front door and a driveway, an entry and a yard — without the cost or complexity of a larger setup.

It brings together two InSight S455 5MP full-colour turret cameras and the VIGI NVR1004H-4P, a 4-channel recorder with built-in PoE so each camera connects over a single network cable that carries both power and data.

The S455 cameras record in full colour 24/7.

A high-sensitivity sensor with white LEDs keeps the picture in colour to about 30 metres at night, with infrared on hand for a discreet view, and AI classification of people and vehicles keeps notifications meaningful rather than firing on every animal or shadow.

A built-in microphone and speaker on each camera give you two-way audio, so you can listen, speak and trigger an audible warning to deter someone in real time.

The IP67 metal housings suit outdoor use, and the NVR outputs up to 4K over HDMI for crisp local playback.

The recorder does not include a hard drive — add a surveillance-grade drive sized to your camera count and how long you want to keep footage; a 4TB drive is a common starting point for two cameras recording continuously.

And the NVR is a 4-channel model, so it has room for two more cameras; if you expect to grow further, an 8-channel NVR upgrade is offered for this kit.

What's in the box

Two VIGI InSight S455 turret cameras (2.8 mm) with mounting accessories, one VIGI NVR1004H-4P recorder and guides. A hard drive, network cables and a monitor are supplied separately.

Installation requirements

Mount the two cameras over the spots you want, run one network cable from each back to the NVR's PoE ports, and fit a surveillance-grade hard drive before recording. Set up the system in the VIGI app or on a monitor, then test both views and the night mode before relying on it.

Is a hard drive included in this kit?
No. The NVR1004H-4P is supplied without a hard drive so you can match storage to your needs. Add a surveillance-grade drive such as a WD Purple or Seagate Skyhawk; a 4TB drive is a common starting point for two cameras recording continuously, and larger drives keep footage for longer.

Does this kit record in colour at night?
Yes. Both S455 cameras keep full colour in low light using white LEDs to around 30 metres, and can switch to 850 nm infrared, also to 30 metres, for a discreet black-and-white view. That makes it far easier to identify people and vehicles after dark than with infrared-only cameras.

Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The 4-channel NVR runs the two included cameras and has two spare channels, so you can add up to two more compatible VIGI cameras without changing the recorder. If you expect to need more than four, an 8-channel NVR upgrade is offered for this kit.

How does the two-way audio work?
Each S455 has a built-in microphone and speaker. Through the VIGI app or desktop software you can listen to the camera location, speak back in real time, or trigger a pre-set audio warning to deter someone, all without being on-site.

Do I have to use the included NVR, or can the cameras go on another recorder?
The cameras work best on the included VIGI NVR for the full smart-event and management features. They also support ONVIF and RTSP, so they can be added to a third-party NVR or software that supports ONVIF, including many Hikvision and Dahua recorders.

What lens do the cameras come with?
They ship with the 2.8 mm wide-angle lens, giving a 111.4° horizontal view that suits open areas. A 4 mm option is available for a tighter, longer view of a corridor or gate — note it in the order comments at checkout and the correct cameras will be supplied.

Is TP-Link VIGI NDAA compliant?
Yes. TP-Link VIGI cameras, including the InSight S455, are NDAA compliant, which makes the kit suitable for government, education and other sites with approved-hardware requirements.
