§ 01Overview

What the DH-IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV-ANZ is

Lens: dual 2.8mm (spliced 180° view).

The DH-IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV is the one-camera answer to a problem that normally takes two: covering everything in front of a wall.

Two 4MP sensors splice into a single 4096 × 1860 panorama spanning 180° horizontally — no blind strip under the mount, no gap between two cameras' views, one timeline to review.

EPTZ zooms into any part of the panorama without losing the rest.

It's a full TiOC as well: red and blue lights, siren and voice warnings through a speaker lab-rated at 110dB (at 10cm), warm-light full-colour event capture, two-way talk through dual mics, and one-tap disarming in DMSS.

SMD 4.0 filters alerts to humans and vehicles, and loitering detection — unique in this range — flags someone hanging around, not just someone crossing a line.

The honest trade-offs: the dual lenses are F1.4 (0.005 lux) with 25m infrared and 20m warm light — built to sweep the space in front of it, not to reach down a long approach — faces identify to about 5.1 metres, and the panorama records at 20fps.

PoE-powered (10.85W max, all firing), metal IP67 housing rated -40°C to +60°C.

§ 02Engineering

DH-IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV-ANZ specifications

- 180° Spliced Panorama: two 4MP sensors output one seamless 4096 × 1860 image — no blind strip along the mounting wall, no second camera to buy.
- EPTZ Review: zoom into any part of the panorama in playback while the full half-circle keeps recording.
- Siren and Light Active Deterrence: red and blue lights plus voice alarms through a speaker lab-rated at 110dB (at 10cm).
- Loitering Detection: flags someone dwelling in a zone — not just crossing it — and fires the deterrence at them.
- Smart Dual Illuminators: 25m infrared everyday; the 20m warm light fires on detection and records the event in full colour.
- Two-Way Talk + 512GB MicroSD: dual mics and speaker in the DMSS app, with generous on-board backup.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DH-IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV-ANZ

One camera where two used to go

180° from a single mount means one PoE run, one NVR channel and one timeline — and no seam or blind strip where two cameras' views meet.

Deterrence across the whole frontage

The lights and siren voice answer a zone crossing anywhere in the half-circle — and loitering detection catches the person who dwells rather than crosses.

Review like a PTZ, record like a panorama

EPTZ zooms into any corner of the recorded image while the full 180° keeps recording — nothing off-frame, nothing missed while zoomed.

Sweep, don't reach

Honest fit: F1.4 lenses with 25m infrared are built to cover the space in front of a wall, not a long approach — for distance, the standard S2 turret or the motorised ZAS is the better tool.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Verandahs and patios

One mount at the centre of the wall sees both corners at once — the spot two fixed cameras or one compromise angle usually covers badly.

Shopfronts and forecourts

The whole frontage in a single timeline: window, door and footpath approach, with loitering detection flagging whoever lingers after close.

Carparks and courtyards

A half-circle of coverage from one PoE run — EPTZ pulls plates and faces out of the panorama in playback.

Between-building gaps

Mounted in a breezeway or against a fence, it watches both directions at once where a normal lens forces a choice.

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV Camera × 1 2. Power Connector × 1 3. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: any 802.3af PoE NVR port or switch (4.95W typical, 10.85W max with the lights and speaker running). A separate 12V DC adapter is only needed without PoE. 2. Network: a wired Ethernet run back to your NVR or switch — PoE carries power and video together on the same line. 3. Mounting: centre of the wall or eave you want swept, 2.5–3 metres up — the 180° view makes mounting position matter more than aim. The optional PFA137 junction box keeps the connection weatherproof.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, create an account and scan the device QR code. 2. Enable push notifications, and keep the one-tap disarm switch handy for expected visitors. 3. Draw tripwire, intrusion and loitering zones on the panorama through the camera's web interface — keep footpaths and the neighbour's frontage out of them.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DH-IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV-ANZ

Q.01

How does one camera cover 180 degrees?

Two 4MP sensors sit side by side and the camera splices their images into one seamless 4096 × 1860 panorama — a full half-circle with no blind strip along the wall it's mounted on. EPTZ lets you zoom into any part of the panorama during playback without losing the rest of the frame.
Q.02

How do the deterrence features actually work?

When someone crosses a tripwire or enters an intrusion zone you've drawn, the camera reacts on the spot: the red and blue lights flash, the built-in speaker plays a siren or voice warning, and the warm light switches on so the whole event records in full colour. It ships with multiple warning voices and supports importing your own recordings.
Q.03

What does loitering detection do?

Beyond tripwire and intrusion, the A180 can flag someone who stays inside a zone too long — the person hanging around the carpark or testing door handles — and fire the lights and voice warning at them. Set the dwell time to suit the space.
Q.04

Can I turn the lights and siren off when I don't want them?

Yes — one-tap disarming in the DMSS app pauses all event linkage while you're expecting visitors, the web interface schedules deterrence by time of day or sets light-only with no sound, and there's a wired arm/disarm option through the alarm input for integrators.
Q.05

Will the siren and strobes annoy my neighbours?

They can if zones are drawn carelessly — this is a camera that reacts out loud. Draw tripwires and intrusion zones tight to your own property so footpath traffic never triggers them, schedule sound off overnight, or run light-only mode. If the camera would face a shared driveway or a tight terrace street, the quieter 3866 WizSense turret records the same AI events without the theatrics.
Q.06

How far can it see at night?

Honestly, this is the model's trade-off: the dual lenses are F1.4 rather than the F1.0 of the standard turrets, rated 0.005 lux in colour, with 25 metres of infrared and 20 metres of warm light. Plenty for the verandah, patio and yard it's designed to sweep — but for a long dark approach, a standard TiOC turret out-sees it.
Q.07

Why does it record at 20fps instead of 25?

Stitching two 4MP sensors into one 4096 × 1860 panorama in real time caps the frame rate at 20fps. In practice motion stays smooth and evidence stays sharp — it's a number worth knowing, not a problem you'll see.
Q.08

Is the 110dB siren claim real?

It's Dahua's laboratory rating measured at 10 centimetres from the speaker — at conversation distance it's loud rather than painful, like any camera speaker. Treat the number as a bench figure, not what the neighbours hear.
Q.09

Which NVR do I need for this camera?

Any current Dahua PoE NVR records it. SMD classification, Quick Pick search and full event linkage want an AI model such as the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ or DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ used in our kits.
Q.10

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

Yes — it is ONVIF conformant (Profile S, G and T). You keep video and basic motion events; SMD classification and the light-and-siren event linkage need a Dahua AI NVR.
Q.11

Can I use this camera without an NVR?

You can — it takes a MicroSD card up to 512GB (not included), streams to the DMSS app, and the deterrence features work stand-alone. Most buyers still pair it with an NVR for longer retention and AI search; treat the SD slot as backup.
Q.12

Can I talk through the camera from my phone?

Yes — dual built-in microphones and a speaker give genuine two-way talk through the DMSS app: hear what's happening and speak to whoever is there, live.
Q.13

Is a Dahua camera safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS and firmware encryption. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.
Q.14

Which TiOC camera suits my spot?

Pick this A180 when one wall must watch everything in front of it — verandahs, patios, shopfronts, carparks. For a single approach at distance, the standard S2 turret (30m illumination, F1.0) or the motorised ZAS (zoom to 13.5mm, 50m IR) out-reach it. All three share the red and blue lights, siren voices and SMD 4.0.
Q.15

Does it come in black?

Yes — the black version is identical inside: same sensors, same deterrence, same warranty. Pick by the colour of the wall it mounts on.
Q.16

What warranty coverage applies in Australia?

The camera includes a 3-year warranty covering defects. Installation labour is not covered.
