The Bosch ICP-SOL3-P is the Solution 3000 control panel board, the new-generation panel Bosch makes for small residential and commercial sites: 16 fully programmable zones that split into two independent areas, room for four keypads, and phone control once a communicator is added.

01Overview

What the ICP-SOL3-P is

The Bosch ICP-SOL3-P is the board at the centre of a Solution 3000 system, sold only in Australia and New Zealand. It carries 16 fully programmable zones and splits into 2 separate areas, so a house with a granny flat, or a shop with an office behind it, can arm one half and leave the other live. Codes run to 33 in total: 32 users and one installer, with STAY and AWAY arming for each.

A panel is only as good as the things plugged into it. Up to four keypads sit on the SDI2 bus at addresses 01 to 04, and the choice runs from the icon and alphanumeric LCD pads to the TouchOne Mini and the 7 inch TouchOne. Only codepad 1 is switched on by default, allocated to Area 1, so extra pads are enabled and assigned during programming. One thing to plan for: the panel reliably powers only one TouchOne Mini, and further touchscreens need their own supply.

Wireless is where the Solution 3000 pulls ahead of its smaller sibling. It works with the WE800EV2 keyfob receiver and with the Bosch RADION transmitter range, holding 16 wireless devices; the receiver type is set at location 395, and up to 32 RADION keyfobs can be learned in, though an icon codepad only shows numbers 1 to 16 on its zone lights.

Reporting starts with the built-in PSTN dialler and Contact ID, SIA and domestic dialling. Add a B426-M Ethernet or B450-M mobile communicator and it also does CSV-IP, email and push notification, which is what makes the panel NBN-ready and puts it in the RSC+ app; the cloud connection needs panel firmware V2.0 or higher. Four on-board outputs drive sirens and strobes, and the B308 adds eight more.

Power is an 18 VAC feed at 1.3A from the TF008 plug pack, backed by a 12 VDC, 6.5Ah sealed lead-acid battery. The board is rated 0 °C to +45 °C at 10% to 95% non-condensing humidity, is packed at 306 x 262 x 84mm and 2.5kg, carries RCM and AS/CA S002:2010 approval for Australia and Telepermit for New Zealand, and has a 3 years warranty. The zone count does not expand: 16 is the ceiling.

Family home with a granny flat

The Bosch ICP-SOL3-P covers the main house on Area 1 and the flat on Area 2, so each arms without touching the other. A keypad at each entrance, with codepad 1 already allocated to Area 1, keeps the two households apart.

Small shop with an office behind it

Sixteen zones cover the shop floor, storeroom and rear door, with the office partitioned into its own area for staff who stay back. Four on-board outputs are available, and a B308 expander adds eight more if the site needs them.

Older home being re-cabled in stages

Wired zones go in where the walls are open, and the RADION range or a WE800EV2 receiver covers the rooms that are not, up to 16 wireless devices. The zone count stops at 16, so plan the final layout before starting.

06Setup

Installation & setup

  1. What is in the box

    The Bosch ICP-SOL3-P arrives as a bare control panel PCB with a hardware pack holding end-of-line resistors, battery wires, a PSTN lead and screws. The enclosure, plug pack, battery, keypads and detectors are all ordered separately.

  2. Enclosure and power

    Mount the board in an enclosure such as the ICP-SOL-ENC, feed it 18 VAC at 1.3A from the TF008 plug pack, and fit a 12 VDC, 6.5Ah sealed lead-acid battery for backup. The plug pack has built-in thermal fuses and a three-wire lead that carries a mains earth to the panel.

  3. Zones and cabling

    Run one cable per zone back to the board and fit the supplied end-of-line resistors as the programming requires. Note that zone common on this panel is negative, the opposite of the older ICP-CC488, which is the usual trap when replacing one.

  4. Keypads

    Fit up to four keypads on SDI2 addresses 01 to 04. Only codepad 1 is switched on by default and it is allocated to Area 1, so enable and assign the others in programming. The panel reliably powers one TouchOne Mini only, so give any extra touchscreens their own supply.

  5. Wireless and communicators

    Choose either the WE800EV2 keyfob receiver or a RADION receiver and set the type at location 395. For the app, fit a B426-M or B450-M, then create the panel profile in RSC+ from the Cloud ID on the module and connect with the profile name and the arming code.

  6. Handover

    Show the owner STAY and AWAY arming, the panic combination of 1 and 3 or STAY and AWAY together, and the duress code that ends in 9 or 3. Push notifications also have to be switched on in the phone's own notification settings.

  7. When to call an electrician

    The panel runs on low voltage from the plug pack, but the plug pack needs a mains outlet. A new or altered mains point, or any cabling inside a wall cavity, is work for a licensed electrician.

Zone common on this panel is negative, where the ICP-CC488 was common positive, so the zone wiring needs checking before power-up. A 7,3 fault means codepad 1 has failed, often the small spring on the back of the pad coming off.

Start with the enclosure, plug pack and battery

The Bosch ICP-SOL3-P is a bare board, so it cannot be commissioned without a box, primary power and backup. Order the ICP-SOL-ENC, the TF008 plug pack and a 12 VDC, 6.5Ah battery with it so installation day is not held up.

Choose the keypads with the doors in mind

Every system needs at least one keypad, and the panel takes four. Pair a plain IUI-SOL-ICON at a back door with an IUI-SOL-TEXT or a IUI-SOL-TS5 touchscreen where the family uses it daily, and remember the panel powers only one TouchOne Mini.

Add the module that puts it on a phone

Push notification, email and CSV-IP reporting need a communicator, so add a B426-M where there is a router near the panel, or a B450-M mobile communicator where there is not. With neither fitted, the panel reports through its built-in PSTN dialler.
