What the BPR2-WP12 is

The Bosch ISC-BPR2-WP12 is the detector for a house with a cat or a small to medium dog. The allowance is the installer’s decision rather than a permanent property of the part, and it applies only once the feature has been turned on.

Turning it off does not leave a weaker detector behind. Catch performance then matches the non-pet models exactly, so one box serves the room the animal sleeps in and the one it never enters.

Underneath the pet allowance is the standard Blue Line Gen2 PIR. Two Fresnel lenses produce sharply focused images across the field of view, a selectable lookdown lens adds three zones directly beneath the detector, and First Step Processing sets sensitivity itself from the amplitude, polarity, slope and timing of the signal, so there is no sensitivity level for an installer to choose. Dynamic temperature compensation then holds that sensitivity as the room warms.

Be clear about its limits. It is a single-technology PIR with no microwave section, it does not cover animals heavier than the stated allowance, and it cannot be used outdoors.

Fitting it is undemanding. It sits 2.2 m to 2.75 m up with no adjustment needed at that height, flat on a wall, in a corner, or on the optional B328 gimbal, B335-3 low-profile swivel or B338 ceiling bracket, and it draws 10 mA at 12 VDC, so the panel supply is rarely the constraint.

06Setup

Installation & setup

  1. Before you start

    The Bosch ISC-BPR2-WP12 goes up once its position is settled, so decide the wall or corner first. The B328, B335-3 and B338 brackets are optional accessories, so order one with the detector if it is not going flat on a wall.

  2. Where to mount it

    The recommended height is 2.2 m to 2.75 m, with no adjustment required at that height. Fit it flat on a wall surface or semi-flush, in a corner, or on the optional B328 gimbal, B335-3 low-profile swivel or B338 universal ceiling bracket.

  3. Setting pet immunity

    Ask the owner which rooms the animal is in while the system is armed, and turn pet immunity on only in those. With it off, the detector gives the catch performance of the non-pet models.

  4. Setting the lookdown

    The lookdown lens is selectable, so decide whether the area directly beneath the detector needs covering. In a room with a window below the mounting position, it usually does.

  5. Cabling

    Run one cable from the panel carrying the 9 VDC to 15 VDC supply, the Form A normally-closed alarm relay and the normally-closed tamper, taking the tamper to a 24-hour protection circuit and fitting the end-of-line resistors the panel requires.

  6. Commissioning

    There is no sensitivity to set, so walk test with the externally visible alarm LED and then disable that LED once the pattern is confirmed. Walk the pet route as well as the intruder route.

  7. When to call an electrician

    The detector runs on low voltage from the alarm panel and needs no mains work. Use a licensed electrician for any new or altered fixed wiring, and a licensed security installer for the panel programming.
