Bosch Blue Line Tritech PIR Detector 12m BDL2-W12G

SKU: BDL2-W12
Description

The Bosch BDL2-W12G is a Blue Line Gen2 TriTech motion detector that pairs a passive-infrared sensor with a 10.525 GHz microwave Doppler radar. Because both technologies have to agree before it alarms, it gives strong catch performance with excellent false-alarm immunity across a 12 m x 12 m area. First Step Processing and microwave noise-adaptive processing mean no field adjustments, and it is a wired detector with a normally-closed relay output and tamper. This is the standard (non pet-friendly) model.

Key points
- TriTech: PIR plus 10.525 GHz microwave; both must agree to alarm
- 12 m x 12 m (40 ft) wall-to-wall coverage at 94 degrees
- First Step Processing - automatic sensitivity, no field adjustments
- Microwave noise-adaptive processing rejects repetitive disturbances
- Wired NC relay and tamper; 9-15 VDC; mount 2.2-2.75 m
- Standard non-pet model (for pets up to 45 kg, choose the BDL2-WP12G)

§ 01Overview

What the BDL2-W12 is

The Bosch BDL2-W12G is the TriTech model in Bosch's Blue Line Gen2 range, combining a passive-infrared (PIR) sensor with a microwave Doppler radar running at 10.525 GHz. An alarm is only raised when both technologies detect the same target, which makes it far more resistant to false alarms from heat sources, sunlight or air movement than a single-PIR detector, while still catching a real intruder reliably across a 12 m x 12 m area at 94 degrees.

It is designed to install and forget. First Step Processing sets the sensitivity automatically, microwave noise-adaptive processing tunes out repetitive background disturbances such as a hanging sign or a ceiling fan, and dynamic temperature compensation keeps performance steady as the room warms or cools - so there are no field adjustments to make. A self-locking enclosure with an integrated bubble level and sealed optics make for a quick, clean install on a wall or in a corner at 2.2 m to 2.75 m.

Two honest points. This is the standard W12G model, which is not pet-friendly; if you need pet immunity for an animal up to 45 kg, the pet version is the BDL2-WP12G. And it is a wired detector - it connects by cable to an alarm panel through a normally-closed relay output and a tamper output. As a G-model it is certified to EN50131-2-4 Grade 2, Environmental Class II. It is genuine Bosch stock with local 3-year warranty.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the BDL2-W12

Dual-technology accuracy

PIR and microwave must both agree, so you get reliable catch with strong rejection of false alarms.

Quiet in busy rooms

Microwave noise-adaptive processing tunes out fans, signs and other repetitive movement.

Nothing to tune

First Step Processing and temperature compensation are automatic - mount it and walk-test.

Clean, fast install

A self-locking enclosure with a built-in level and sealed optics make fitting quick and tidy.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Rooms prone to false alarms

Use TriTech where sunlight, heaters or draughts have nuisance-tripped a single-PIR detector.

Living areas and offices

Cover a 12 m x 12 m room wall-to-wall from a wall or corner position.

Commercial spaces

Protect a shop floor or office where reliable detection and low false alarms both matter.

Pet-free zones

Use it in rooms without pets; for pet areas choose the BDL2-WP12G pet version instead.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One BDL2-W12G TriTech detector with a hardware pack and installation guide. The alarm panel and cabling are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it level at 2.2 m to 2.75 m on a flat wall or in a corner (optional B335-3 swivel or B328 gimbal brackets, or the B338 ceiling bracket). Wire the normally-closed alarm output to a detection zone and the tamper to a 24-hour circuit, then walk-test the coverage before arming. No sensitivity adjustment is required. For a pet household, use the BDL2-WP12G instead.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the BDL2-W12

Q.01

What does TriTech mean?

TriTech combines two detection technologies - passive infrared and a 10.525 GHz microwave Doppler radar - with advanced signal processing. Both have to detect the same target before the detector alarms, which gives strong catch performance with very good false-alarm immunity.
Q.02

Is this detector pet-friendly?

No. The BDL2-W12G is the standard, non pet-friendly model. If you have pets and need the detector to ignore them, choose the pet version, the BDL2-WP12G, which has selectable pet immunity for an animal up to 45 kg.
Q.03

How much area does it cover?

It provides 12 m x 12 m (about 40 ft by 40 ft) wall-to-wall coverage at a 94-degree angle, which suits most living rooms, offices and similar spaces from a wall or corner.
Q.04

Why choose TriTech over a plain PIR?

Because it needs both the infrared and microwave sensors to agree, it rejects the kind of disturbances - sunlight, heaters, draughts - that can cause a single-PIR detector to false-alarm, so it is a good choice for rooms where nuisance alarms have been a problem.
Q.05

Is it wired or wireless?

It is a wired detector. It connects to the panel by cable through a normally-closed relay alarm output and a tamper output, suiting hardwired zones on a Bosch Solution or compatible panel.
Q.06

Do I need to adjust it after mounting?

No. First Step Processing, microwave noise-adaptive processing and temperature compensation are automatic, so you mount it level at 2.2 m to 2.75 m and walk-test - there is no sensitivity pot to set.
Q.07

What stops it false-alarming near a fan or moving sign?

Microwave noise-adaptive processing adjusts to repetitive background movement such as a ceiling fan or a hanging sign, and the dual-technology requirement means a single disturbance on its own will not trigger an alarm.
