§ 01Overview

What the BDL2-WP12G is

The Bosch ISC-BDL2-WP12G settles the argument most households have about their alarm: whether the dog can stay inside when the system is armed. The allowance here is generous enough for a labrador rather than a lap dog, and it is the installer’s decision rather than a permanent property of the part.

Turning that allowance off does not leave a weaker detector behind. With pet immunity off, catch performance is identical to the non-pet models, so one part number covers the house with a dog and the shop next door without one.

The signal processing is what makes a generous allowance safe rather than risky. First Step Processing responds to a human target almost instantly rather than waiting for repeated movement, Microwave Noise Adaptive Processing adapts to background disturbance, and dynamic temperature compensation holds sensitivity as a room warms towards body heat.

It cannot be used outdoors. The enclosure is rated IP30 and IK04 for an indoor position, so a carport or a patio needs a detector built for the weather.

Fitting it is undemanding. It sits 2.2 m to 2.75 m up with no adjustment needed at that height, flat on a wall, in a corner, or on the optional B328 gimbal, B335-3 low-profile swivel or B338 ceiling bracket, and it draws 10 mA at 12 VDC, so the panel supply is rarely the constraint.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the BDL2-WP12G

The dog can stay inside

The Bosch ISC-BDL2-WP12G is immune to one or two pets up to 45 kg, or numerous rodents. That covers most family dogs, not just small ones, so the alarm gets armed instead of skipped.

Fewer false alarms in a busy room

Passive infrared is combined with a 10.525 GHz microwave transceiver and advanced signal processing rather than one sensor working alone. That is what allows the generous pet allowance without the room becoming a false alarm source.

Caught at the doorway, not halfway across the room

First Step Processing responds to a human target almost instantly rather than waiting for repeated movement. An intruder is picked up as they come in rather than after they have crossed the lounge.

One part number for the whole site

The installer can turn pet immunity off, and with it off the detector performs identically to the non-pet models. A house with a dog and a shop without one are fitted from the same box.

It holds up as the room changes

Microwave Noise Adaptive Processing adjusts to background disturbance and dynamic temperature compensation adjusts sensitivity as the room warms. Both keep the detector honest through a day that starts cool and ends hot.

Nothing on the wall gives the pattern away

The externally visible alarm LED can be disabled once the walk test is done. Without it, nobody can stand in the room and work out where the coverage begins.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Australian family home with a large dog

The Bosch ISC-BDL2-WP12G covers a 12 m x 12 m living area from a corner at 2.2 m to 2.75 m, with pet immunity on for a dog up to 45 kg. That is the room most households leave the pet in overnight.

Home office or shop with no pets

Turn pet immunity off and the detector performs identically to the non-pet models, so the same detector suits a commercial room. Using one part number across a mixed site keeps the spares simple.

Living area with a heater or afternoon sun

Dynamic temperature compensation adjusts sensitivity so an intruder is still identified when the room approaches body heat, and the sealed optical chamber keeps drafts and insects out of the optics. Both matter in an Australian summer.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What is in the box

The Bosch ISC-BDL2-WP12G comes with a hardware pack holding two anchors, two screws and a cable tie, plus an installation guide. Brackets, cable and end-of-line resistors are ordered separately.

02

Where to mount it

The recommended height is 2.2 m to 2.75 m, with no adjustment required at that height. Fit it flat on a wall surface or semi-flush, in a corner, or on the optional B328 gimbal, B335-3 low-profile swivel or B338 universal ceiling bracket.

03

Setting pet immunity

Decide with the owner whether pets will be inside the covered area while the system is armed, and switch pet immunity on or off accordingly. With it off, the detector gives catch performance identical to the non-pet models.

04

Cabling

Run one cable from the panel carrying the 9 VDC to 15 VDC supply, the Form A normally-closed alarm relay and the normally-closed tamper, taking the tamper to a 24-hour protection circuit. On a Solution 6000 remember a shorted zone loop reads as a tamper under every end-of-line configuration.

05

Power

The detector draws 10 mA at 12 VDC from a 9 VDC to 15 VDC supply. That is a light load to plan for when the panel supply is worked out.

06

Commissioning

Walk test with the externally visible alarm LED, then disable that LED once the pattern is confirmed so it cannot be used to find the edges of the coverage.

07

When to call an electrician

The detector runs on low voltage from the alarm panel and needs no mains work. Use a licensed electrician for any new or altered fixed wiring, and a licensed security installer for the panel programming.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the BDL2-WP12G

Q.01

Bosch ISC-BDL2-WP12G pet immunity: how big a pet can it ignore?

One or two pets up to 45 kg, or numerous rodents. Pet immunity applies only when the installer has turned the feature on.
Q.02

What happens if I turn pet immunity off?

The detector then gives catch performance identical to the non-pet models. It is a setting, so the same detector can be used in rooms with and without animals.
Q.03

How much area does it cover?

Its pattern is 12 m x 12 m, from a mounting height of 2.2 m to 2.75 m with no adjustment required.
Q.04

What makes it a TriTech detector?

It combines passive infrared with a 10.525 GHz microwave transceiver and advanced signal processing, so both technologies contribute before an alarm is generated.
Q.05

Will a heater or a hot afternoon stop it working?

Dynamic temperature compensation adjusts sensitivity so a human intruder is identified at virtually any temperature. The sealed optical chamber also keeps drafts and insects from affecting it.
Q.06

Can the alarm LED be turned off?

Yes. The externally visible alarm LED can be disabled after installation, so it cannot be used to map where the detection pattern starts.
Q.07

How does it connect to the panel?

Through a supervised solid-state Form A normally-closed relay rated 2.5 W and up to 100 mA at 25 VDC, with a normally-closed tamper that goes to a 24-hour protection circuit.
Q.08

How much power does it draw?

10 mA at 12 VDC, from a 9 VDC to 15 VDC supply.
Q.09

Can it be used outdoors?

No. It is rated IP30 and IK04 for indoor use, from - 20°C to + 55°C at up to 95% non-condensing humidity.

§ 10Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Give it a panel zone and a tamper circuit

The Bosch ISC-BDL2-WP12G needs a spare zone plus a 24-hour tamper circuit on a hardwired panel. The ICP-SOL3-P is the Solution 3000 board sold here.

02

Add the ceiling bracket for an open room

An open-plan living area often has no corner in the right place. The B338 universal ceiling bracket aims the pattern down into the room from above.

03

Cover the rooms without pets more cheaply

Not every room needs the pet allowance or the microwave. The ISC-BPR2-W12 is the PIR from the same family for hallways and rooms the animals do not use.
