01Overview
What the RFDL-11 is
The Bosch RFDL-11 is the TriTech detector in the RADION wireless range, the one to reach for in a rented home, a heritage building or any room where running a cable is impractical. It reports to the panel over 433.42 MHz radio through a RADION receiver, so the only wiring it needs is none.
It does not alarm on one technology alone. Passive infrared and microwave Doppler radar must both trigger, and both must satisfy the signal processing before an alarm is sent; the PIR side runs Motion Analyzer II with three sensitivity settings and a sealed optical chamber that ignores drafts and insects, while the microwave side adapts to background disturbance. Pet immunity tells a person from a dog up to 45 kg, two dogs at 27 kg or up to ten cats, provided the detector sits where pets cannot climb into the upper part of the pattern.
Four AA alkaline batteries run it for up to 5 years. Part of that comes from the battery life extension feature: after an alarm restores, the detector holds off the next alarm transmission for three minutes, which stops it chattering in a busy hallway. It is supervised for low battery, cover tamper and removal from the mounting surface, so the panel hears about a flat battery or a pulled detector rather than simply losing it.
It is an indoor detector, rated IP30/IK04, and it does not work on its own: a RADION receiver at the panel is required, and the receiver position should be tested for signal because objects inside a building, people included, affect the radio path. Mount it between 2 m and 2.4 m high, on a wall, in a corner or on the optional ceiling bracket.
Commissioning is visible from the floor. A blue LED shows a TriTech alarm, green shows the microwave side detecting and red the PIR side, so an installer can see which technology is catching movement during the 90 sec walk test that starts when the tamper switch is held. Sensitivity is field selectable between standard and intermediate, and the internal coverage can be pointed vertically from -4° to -10°.

What's in the box
The Bosch RFDL-11 arrives as the detector itself. The four AA alkaline batteries, the RADION receiver, the panel and any bracket are separate, so have them on hand for installation day along with access to panel programming.

Pick the receiver
It needs a RADION receiver at the panel, such as the B810 wireless SDI2 bus interface or the RFRC-STR2 receiver ST with its rear rotary dial set to 3.

Where to mount it
Mount it between 2 m and 2.4 m high on a wall, in a corner or on the optional B338 ceiling bracket, on a flat rigid surface indoors. Fit a screw in the wall-tamper slot or the wall tamper will not work, and keep it out of reach of climbing pets.

No cable, but test the radio
There is no cable run to plan. Objects inside the building, including people, affect the radio path, so temporarily fix the detector, test coverage and signal from the intended spot, and move the receiver if the margin is poor.

Learn it into the panel
Set the zone source to RF, then learn the detector by typing its 9-digit RF ID or by triggering it in auto mode. From Solution 2000 and 3000 firmware 2.1 the icon codepad can show the RF signal strength of each zone.

The detector is battery powered and needs no electrical work. Use a licensed electrician only if the wider job involves fixed mains wiring, and a licensed security installer for the panel programming.
