What the Insight S655I is

The TP-Link VIGI InSight S655I is a 5MP fisheye eco camera that replaces several fixed cameras with one overhead view.

Its single 1.44mm lens captures a 360-degree circle in 2560 x 1920 resolution, and the camera's dewarping engine straightens that circular image into usable layouts, including 180 and 360-degree panoramas and PTZ-style sub-views, so you can watch the whole space and zoom into a corner at the same time.

It suits open areas where shelving or furniture would block a normal camera: retail floors, lobbies, classrooms and entry foyers.

Two-way audio, through the built-in microphone and speaker, lets staff speak to people in the room, and smart events include intrusion, line-crossing and region entry/exit detection plus abnormal-sound detection.

Note this eco model does not include AI human and vehicle classification, and its IR night vision reaches about 10 m, so it is best mounted in a well-defined indoor or sheltered area rather than relying on long-range night coverage.

The S655I has an IP67 weatherproof, IK10 vandal-resistant metal housing and mounts on a ceiling, wall or pendant.

It runs on PoE (802.3af/at) or 12V DC, records to a microSD card up to 512GB, and works with VIGI NVRs and the VIGI app, or with third-party recorders over ONVIF (Profile S/T/G) and RTSP.

What it is

A 5MP 360-degree fisheye camera with IP67/IK10 housing. It is an eco model: no human/vehicle AI, and IR reaches about 10 m.

Where to mount

Ceiling-mount over the centre of the area for the best 360 view; wall or pendant mounting is also supported for angled coverage.

Power and network

PoE (802.3af/at) over one Cat5e/6 cable, or 12V DC. It connects to a PoE NVR or PoE switch.

Setup

In Australia a network camera is usually fitted by a licensed security installer or a competent IT/cabling technician, who runs the Cat5e/6 cable, terminates the RJ45, mounts the camera and adds it to the NVR or VIGI app. Choose the dewarping layout in the VIGI app or NVR; it also adds to third-party recorders over ONVIF or RTSP.
