§ 01Overview
What the VIGI NVR4016H is
The TP-Link VIGI NVR4016H is a 16-channel network video recorder aimed at sites that have outgrown a small 4- or 8-channel NVR.
It records up to 16 IP cameras with 16-channel live view and 16-channel synchronous playback, and outputs 4K through its HDMI1 port (3840 x 2160 at 30Hz), with a second HDMI and a VGA port for a second screen.
Note that HDMI2 and VGA cannot run at the same time: if both are connected, HDMI2 takes priority.
Storage is its strong point.
Four SATA bays each take a hard drive up to 16TB, for up to 64TB in total, and H.265+ compression stretches that capacity into months of continuous footage.
The recorder takes incoming and outgoing streams at up to 320 Mbps, decodes up to 10 channels at 3MP or 16 at 1080p (25fps), and works with the same VIGI smart alarms as the cameras, including motion, line-crossing, intrusion and human or vehicle detection.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports support network fault tolerance or port aggregation for extra bandwidth.
Importantly, the NVR4016H does not have built-in PoE ports, so it does not power cameras directly.
You connect cameras through a separate PoE switch (or use cameras with their own power), which suits sites with structured cabling or a central comms rack.
If you would rather power cameras straight from the recorder, the VIGI NVR2016H-16P is an all-in-one 16-channel PoE NVR.
The NVR4016H runs on mains AC, ships with mounting brackets, mouse and cabling, and is managed locally or remotely through the VIGI app and web interface.
It is normally installed by a security or IT technician.

§ 04Why choose this
Built for the way you actually use the VIGI NVR4016H
Long retention
Four large drives and H.265+ compression store months of continuous 4K footage for review and evidence.
Fits a structured network
With dual Gigabit LAN and no built-in PoE, it drops neatly into a site that already has a PoE switch and comms rack.
Backed locally
Supplied by an authorised dealer with a 3-year warranty and Australia-wide support.
§ 05Where it fits
Right at home in these scenarios
Medium business sites
Record 16 cameras across a shop, office or warehouse, with long retention on four large drives.
Larger homes and acreage
Cover a big property with many cameras and weeks of continuous footage on one recorder.
Multi-area premises
Bring cameras from several buildings or zones back to one 16-channel recorder over the network.
Structured-cabling installs
Suits sites with a central rack and a PoE switch already feeding the cameras.
§ 06Setup
Installation & setup
What it is
A 16-channel, 4-bay network video recorder with 4K HDMI and H.265+. It is non-PoE, so it does not power cameras directly.
Powering cameras
Connect cameras through a separate PoE switch, or use cameras with their own power. For an all-in-one PoE recorder, see the NVR2016H-16P instead.
Hard drives
Fit one to four surveillance-grade SATA drives (up to 16TB each) before recording; more drives mean longer retention.
Setup
Mount the recorder in a rack or on a shelf, connect it to the network and a 4K monitor, and add cameras in the web interface or VIGI app. It is normally installed by a security or IT technician.

§ 09Bundles
Recommended packages
Add hard drives
Fit surveillance-grade SATA drives such as the 6TB, 8TB or 2TB; the four bays take up to 16TB each.
Want PoE built in?
To power cameras straight from the recorder, choose the all-in-one NVR2016H-16P 16-channel PoE NVR instead.
Pair it with cameras
Record VIGI cameras such as the InSight S485 8MP turret or build a system from a VIGI S385 4-camera kit.
Smaller systems
For fewer cameras, see the NVR1004H-4P (4-channel PoE) or NVR1008H (8-channel PoE) recorders.
