What the kit-tp-link-vigi8x8ch is

This TP-Link VIGI kit brings together 8 InSight S485 8MP turret cameras and a VIGI NVR1008H-8MP 8-channel recorder, supplied as a matched, tested set so the cameras and NVR work together from the first power-up.

Each S485 records 4K (3840 x 2160) detail and keeps footage in full colour at night, using white LEDs and IR both rated to 30 m, so you capture clothing and vehicle colour rather than black-and-white IR.

Every camera has AI human and vehicle classification, which keeps alerts to real people and cars and makes searching recorded footage faster, plus two-way audio through a built-in microphone and speaker and white-light flashing for active deterrence.

The NVR1008H-8MP has eight PoE+ ports, so each camera needs only a single Cat5e/6 cable for both power and data, with a combined 113W power budget; a 4K HDMI output drives a local monitor and H.265+ compression keeps recordings small.

The cameras carry an IP67 metal housing for Australian outdoor conditions and come with a 2.8mm wide lens or a 4mm longer-reach lens (note your preference in the order comments).

The kit does not include a hard drive: the NVR has one SATA bay, and for 24/7 recording across 8 4K cameras a 6TB or 8TB surveillance-grade drive is a good match.

Installation & setup

What it is

A matched 8-camera 8MP 4K full-colour kit with a VIGI NVR1008H-8MP 8-channel PoE+ recorder. No hard drive is included.

Cabling and power

Run one Cat5e/6 cable from the NVR to each camera; the NVR's PoE+ ports supply power and data, so no power adaptor is needed at the camera.

Add a hard drive

Fit a surveillance-grade SATA drive in the NVR before recording; for 24/7 4K a 6TB or 8TB drive is a sensible size.

Setup

In Australia a CCTV kit is usually fitted by a licensed security installer or a competent IT/cabling technician, who runs a Cat5e/6 cable to each camera, mounts the cameras, fits a hard drive in the NVR and adds the cameras in the VIGI app or NVR. Pick the 2.8mm or 4mm lens to suit each location and set detection and colour-night-vision modes in the app.
