01Overview

What the KIT-S485-6CAM-8CH-WD4TB is

See more of the site in one recording system. Six camera positions let you separate front access, parking, side routes, deliveries and indoor activity rather than relying on a single wide overview.

This kit contains 6 white TP-Link VIGI InSight S485 8MP turret cameras with 2.8mm fixed lenses, one NVR1008H-8MP 8-channel PoE recorder and one WD 4TB surveillance hard drive. The drive is part of this package, so there is no separate storage purchase to make before configuring NVR recording.

Each camera has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio, human and vehicle classification, audible warning and white-light flashing. IR and white-light illumination are rated up to 30m; colour viewing after dark requires suitable ambient light or the camera's white lights.

Six cameras occupy six of the eight recorder inputs, leaving two inputs and PoE ports available. Add suitable cameras later within the recorder bandwidth and power budget. The included 4TB drive has twice the nominal capacity of 2TB, but recording time also depends on the six cameras and their settings.

04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the KIT-S485-6CAM-8CH-WD4TB

Six views for a bigger camera plan

Give front access, side approaches, deliveries and indoor activity their own views. Six separate camera positions make the layout easier to plan around how the site is used.

4K detail where it matters

Each S485 supports 8MP recording. Choose mounting angles and distances for the details you need, then check sample footage on the actual site.

See, hear and respond

Use the built-in microphone and speaker for two-way communication through supported VIGI tools. Configure audible and light warnings for the events and positions where they are useful.

4TB included, with room for two more cameras

A WD 4TB surveillance drive and an 8-channel PoE recorder support a larger starting setup. Two channels remain available for future positions. Extra cameras are separate.

05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Homes with more access routes

Use the extra views for a longer driveway, a detached garage, multiple entrances or outdoor activity areas. Select each position for useful detail rather than overlapping views.

Shops, workshops and warehouses

Separate the front entrance, sales floor, deliveries, storage and rear access. Use two-way audio where the camera microphone and speaker can serve a practical purpose.

A staged camera rollout

Start with six cameras, then use the two spare recorder inputs for future positions. Check power and recording bandwidth before selecting the extra cameras.

06Setup

Installation & setup

  1. Included in this package

    • 6 × TP-Link VIGI InSight S485 8MP turret cameras, white, 2.8mm
    • 1 × NVR1008H-8MP 8-channel PoE recorder
    • 1 × WD 4TB surveillance hard drive
    • Standard manufacturer-supplied mounting and recorder accessories. Network cabling, monitor, microSD cards and installation are separate.

  2. Connect, initialise and set recording

    • Plan and label the 6 camera positions and cable routes.
    • Use one suitable Ethernet cable between each camera and the recorder's PoE ports.
    • Fit or check the included HDD as applicable, initialise the recorder and drive, set strong passwords and the correct time.
    • Configure camera streams, recording schedules, alerts and authorised remote access.

  3. Check every view before handover

Verify day and night views, test two-way audio where enabled and play back a sample recording from each camera. Check weatherproofing and cable runs. The six camera maxima total 75W before cable losses against the recorder's stated 113W PoE budget. Any later expansion must stay within the budget and recording bandwidth.

08Questions

Frequently asked about the KIT-S485-6CAM-8CH-WD4TB

Q.01

Is the WD hard drive included?
Yes. One WD 4TB surveillance hard drive is included with this kit. It is not an optional add-on to the advertised configuration. HDD installation and initialisation must be checked before recording is used.
Q.02

Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The supplied recorder has eight camera inputs and six are used by this kit. Two remain available. Choose compatible extra cameras and confirm total PoE power, bitrate and recording settings. Extra cameras are separate.
Q.03

Does full-colour mean the camera sees colour in total darkness?
Colour viewing needs suitable ambient light or the built-in white lights. The S485 also has infrared illumination for black-and-white night vision. Choose the lighting mode for the scene and check the result after dark.
Q.04

How long will the included drive record?
There is no single fixed recording duration. Retention depends on all 6 cameras, bitrate, frame rate, compression, scene activity and recording schedules. Configure these settings for the required retention and verify actual storage use.
Q.05

Can I view all cameras at full 4K quality simultaneously?
The cameras support 8MP streams, but the recorder's simultaneous decoding capacity is separate from its input count. The documented 25fps decoding examples include 2 × 8MP or 4 × 4MP, or 8 × 2MP. Configure suitable substreams for the multi-camera grid and main streams for the required recordings.
Q.06

What do I need for remote viewing and installation?
The package supplies the cameras, recorder and stated WD storage. Allow for Ethernet cabling, suitable mounting, a local monitor if needed and installation. Remote viewing requires the recorder to be connected to a suitable internet connection and configured with the VIGI app or supported tools.
