What the KIT-S485-4CAM-4CH-WD2TB is

Start with four views that matter: the entrance, driveway, side access and backyard. For a shop, use the same four-camera layout around the doorway, counter, stock area and rear access. Set each view for the detail you need at the actual distance.

This kit contains 4 white TP-Link VIGI InSight S485 8MP turret cameras with 2.8mm fixed lenses, one NVR1004H-4P 4-channel PoE recorder and one WD 2TB surveillance hard drive. The drive is part of this package, so there is no separate storage purchase to make before configuring NVR recording.

Each camera has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio, human and vehicle classification, audible warning and white-light flashing. IR and white-light illumination are rated up to 30m; colour viewing after dark requires suitable ambient light or the camera's white lights.

The four supplied cameras occupy all four recorder inputs. Choose this compact configuration when you already know your four camera positions. If more views are likely, compare the six-camera kit with an 8-channel recorder.

Installation & setup

    • Standard manufacturer-supplied mounting and recorder accessories. Network cabling, monitor, microSD cards and installation are separate.

  2. Connect, initialise and set recording

    • Plan and label the 4 camera positions and cable routes.
    • Use one suitable Ethernet cable between each camera and the recorder's PoE ports.
    • Fit or check the included HDD as applicable, initialise the recorder and drive, set strong passwords and the correct time.
    • Configure camera streams, recording schedules, alerts and authorised remote access.

  3. Check every view before handover

    Verify day and night views, test two-way audio where enabled and play back a sample recording from each camera. Check weatherproofing and cable runs. The camera-set maximum PoE demand is 50W before cable losses against the recorder's stated 53W budget; have the installer verify the complete cable and power plan.

Q.01

Is the WD hard drive included?
Yes. One WD 2TB surveillance hard drive is included with this kit. It is not an optional add-on to the advertised configuration. HDD installation and initialisation must be checked before recording is used.
Q.02

Can I add more cameras later?
The four supplied cameras use all four NVR inputs. More cameras require a larger or additional recorder. Compare the six-camera kit if you want an 8-channel starting point.
Q.03

Does full-colour mean the camera sees colour in total darkness?
Colour viewing needs suitable ambient light or the built-in white lights. The S485 also has infrared illumination for black-and-white night vision. Choose the lighting mode for the scene and check the result after dark.
Q.04

How long will the included drive record?
There is no single fixed recording duration. Retention depends on all 4 cameras, bitrate, frame rate, compression, scene activity and recording schedules. Configure these settings for the required retention and verify actual storage use.

Can I view all cameras at full 4K quality simultaneously?
The cameras support 8MP streams, but the recorder's simultaneous decoding capacity is separate from its input count. The documented 25fps decoding examples include 2 × 8MP or 4 × 4MP. Configure suitable substreams for the multi-camera grid and main streams for the required recordings.

What do I need for remote viewing and installation?
The package supplies the cameras, recorder and stated WD storage. Allow for Ethernet cabling, suitable mounting, a local monitor if needed and installation. Remote viewing requires the recorder to be connected to a suitable internet connection and configured with the VIGI app or supported tools.
