This TP-Link VIGI kit pairs two InSight S485 8MP (4K) full-colour turret cameras with the VIGI NVR1004H-4P 4-channel PoE recorder — a tidy two-camera 4K system for a home or small site. Each camera records in true colour around the clock to about 30 metres, classifies people and vehicles to cut false alerts, and has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio and active deterrence. The PoE NVR powers and connects both cameras over a single cable each and has two spare channels for adding more later. No hard drive is included, so you can choose the storage that suits you.

§ 01Overview

What the kit-tp-link-vigi2x8mp4ch is

This TP-Link VIGI 8MP kit is a complete two-camera 4K system for covering a couple of key spots — a front door and a driveway, an entry and a yard — without the cost of a larger setup.

It brings together two InSight S485 8MP full-colour turret cameras and the VIGI NVR1004H-4P, a 4-channel recorder with built-in PoE so each camera connects over a single network cable that carries both power and data.

At 8MP (3840 × 2160) the S485 captures the fine detail that makes faces, clothing and number plates usable, and you can zoom into recorded 4K footage and still keep clarity.

It records in full colour 24/7 using a high-sensitivity sensor and white LEDs to about 30 metres, with 850 nm infrared on hand for a discreet view, also to 30 metres.

AI classification of people and vehicles keeps notifications meaningful, and a built-in microphone and speaker on each camera give you two-way audio and active deterrence — speak to a visitor or warn an intruder off live from your phone.

The compact turret housings aim cleanly under an eave and resist glare, and the IP67 metal bodies suit outdoor use.

Two practical notes.

The recorder does not include a hard drive — add a surveillance-grade drive sized to your needs; a 2TB drive is a sensible start for two 4K cameras.

And the 4-channel NVR runs the two cameras with two spare channels, so you can add a couple more VIGI cameras later without changing the recorder.

The cameras ship with the 2.8 mm wide lens, work with the VIGI app, Security Manager or web, and also support ONVIF and RTSP for third-party recorders.

TP-Link VIGI is NDAA compliant, and the kit is genuine stock with a local 3-year warranty and support.

What's in the box

Two VIGI InSight S485 turret cameras (2.8 mm) with mounting accessories, one VIGI NVR1004H-4P recorder and guides. A hard drive, network cables and a monitor are supplied separately.

Installation requirements

Mount the two cameras over the spots you want, run one network cable from each to the NVR's PoE ports, and fit a surveillance-grade hard drive before recording. Set up the system in the VIGI app or on a monitor, then test both views and the night mode before relying on it.

Q.01

Is a hard drive included in this kit?
No. The NVR1004H-4P is supplied without a hard drive so you can match storage to your needs. Add a surveillance-grade drive such as a WD Purple or Seagate Skyhawk; a 2TB drive is a sensible start for two 4K cameras recording continuously.

Does this two-camera kit record in colour at night?
Yes. Both S485 cameras keep full colour in low light using white LEDs to around 30 metres, and can switch to 850 nm infrared, also to 30 metres, for a discreet black-and-white view. That makes identifying people and vehicles after dark far easier than with infrared-only cameras.

Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The 4-channel NVR runs the two included cameras and has two spare channels, so you can add up to two more compatible VIGI cameras without changing the recorder. If you expect to need more than four, plan for an 8-channel NVR.

How does the two-way audio work?
Each S485 has a built-in microphone and speaker. Through the VIGI app or desktop software you can listen to the camera location, speak back in real time, or trigger a pre-set audio warning to deter someone, all without being on-site.

Do I have to use the included NVR?
The cameras work best on the included VIGI NVR for the full smart-event and management features. They also support ONVIF and RTSP, so they can be added to a third-party NVR or software that supports ONVIF, including many Hikvision and Dahua recorders.

What lens do the cameras come with?
They ship with the 2.8 mm wide-angle lens, giving about a 111-degree horizontal view that suits open areas. A 4 mm option is available for a tighter, longer view of a corridor or gate — note it in the order comments at checkout and the correct cameras will be supplied.
