What the DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL-1 is

The Hikvision DS-2CD2386G2H-IS2U/SL is an 8 MP AcuSense fixed turret built around active deterrence, not just recording. A 1/1.8" sensor with a bright F1.0 lens captures sharp 8 MP (3840 x 2160) images, and 120 dB Wide Dynamic Range holds detail in high-contrast light such as a sunlit gate against a shaded drive. This is an AcuSense camera, not a ColorVu model: everyday night vision is infrared up to 30 m, so the standard night image is black and white — though the G2H generation sensor behind it holds colour further into dusk than the older G2.

AcuSense deep learning runs on the camera itself, classifying people and vehicles and triggering perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion only on those targets, which cuts the false alarms that branches, rain and animals cause. When a target breaks a rule you have set, the camera responds on its own: the /SL white light flashes as a strobe and the speaker sounds an audible alarm, moving an intruder on before they act. Two built-in microphones and a built-in speaker also give two-way audio, so an operator can listen to a scene and talk back through the camera.

The white light works as an active-deterrence strobe rather than a constant ColorVu light, so this is not a 24/7 full-colour camera; the everyday night image is infrared black and white. It is a metal turret rated IP67 against dust and water. The datasheet lists IP67 only and does not give an IK impact rating, so treat it as weatherproof rather than rated vandal-resistant. A microSD slot takes a card up to 512 GB and H.265+ keeps storage down. Fixed 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens options set the view, and it runs on a single PoE+ (802.3at) cable — any of our M-series kit NVRs powers it out of the box — or on 12 VDC.   1. What's in the box

    One DS-2CD2386G2H-IS2U/SL turret camera with a mounting template, fixings and a quick guide. The PoE switch or NVR, network cable, microSD card and any wall or pendant bracket are supplied separately.

  2. Installation requirements

    Mount it on a wall, eave or soffit aimed along the area to cover, and run one network cable back to a PoE (802.3at) switch or NVR, or use 12 VDC. Set the AcuSense rules, strobe and audio responses in the software, and record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR. A wall bracket helps where you need to bring it out from a soffit.

Does the DS-2CD2386G2H-IS2U/SL record in colour at night?
Its standard night vision is infrared up to 30 m, so the normal night image is black and white. This is an AcuSense camera, not a 24/7 ColorVu model. The white light is a flashing deterrent strobe, although you can set it to stay on for full-colour images in the area it lights.

How does the active deterrence work?
When AcuSense detects a person or vehicle breaking a rule you have set, the camera flashes its white strobe and plays an audible alarm through the speaker. That moves an intruder on in real time rather than just recording the event. The strobe and alarm behaviour can be customised.

Yes. It has two built-in microphones and a built-in speaker, so an operator can listen to a scene and talk back through the camera, for example to greet a delivery or challenge someone after hours.

Its datasheet lists an IP67 weatherproof rating but does not state an IK impact rating, so treat it as weatherproof rather than rated vandal-resistant. Mount it out of easy reach where tampering is a concern.

AcuSense classifies people and vehicles, so perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion alarm only on those targets. Moving branches, rain and animals are far less likely to trigger an alert than on a basic motion camera.

It comes with a fixed 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens. The 2.8 mm gives a wide view for a driveway or courtyard, and the 4 mm gives a longer, narrower view for a gate or corridor. Pick the lens to match the area, as the focus is fixed.
