01Overview

What the Insight S445ZI is

The TP-Link VIGI InSight S445ZI is a 4MP motorised varifocal turret camera, the turret-bodied sibling of the S345ZI bullet. Its 2.7-13.5mm lens gives a 5x optical zoom that you set remotely in the VIGI app or NVR, with motorised focus, so a single camera can frame a wide entrance or zoom into a distant point. The low-profile turret form is discreet and easy to aim, and it mounts neatly on a wall or ceiling.

It records 4MP (2688 x 1520) video on a 1/2.9-inch sensor with 120dB true wide dynamic range for high-contrast scenes such as doorways and windows, and an IR illuminator for night vision up to 60 m; as an IR camera, night footage is black-and-white. AI human and vehicle classification cuts false alarms, and smart events include motion, intrusion and loitering detection. The camera has a built-in microphone, and an audio-out line lets you connect an external speaker for talk-back.

The S445ZI has an IP67 weatherproof, IK10 vandal-resistant metal housing and runs on PoE (802.3af/at) or 12V DC. It records to a microSD card up to 512GB and works with VIGI NVRs and the VIGI app, or with third-party recorders over ONVIF (Profile S/T/G) and RTSP. It is normally fitted by a security or cabling technician.

Installation & setup

  1. What it is

    A 4MP motorised varifocal (5x zoom) IR turret with IP67/IK10 housing, for wall or ceiling mounting.

  2. Power and network

    PoE (802.3af/at) over one Cat5e/6 cable, or 12V DC. It connects to a PoE NVR or PoE switch.

  3. Mounting and focus

    Surface mount to a wall or ceiling and set zoom and focus remotely; a junction box helps with cabling.

  4. Audio note

    In Australia a network camera is usually fitted by a licensed security installer or a competent IT/cabling technician, who runs the Cat5e/6 cable, terminates the RJ45, mounts the camera and adds it to the NVR or VIGI app. For talk-back, wire an external speaker to the audio-out; the built-in microphone handles listen-in.
