§ 01Overview

What the IPC-D140H is

The HiLook IPC-D140H is a 4MP IR vandal dome network camera, part of the HiLook by Hikvision budget range, made for everyday surveillance where a tough, fixed-view camera is all that is needed.

The IK10 metal housing resists impact and the IP67 rating handles dust and rain, so it works indoors or on an exposed wall or eave.

It captures 2560 x 1440 video with 120dB true WDR for mixed lighting and 3D DNR to keep images clean in low light, and infrared reaches about 30 metres at night.

H.265+ compression keeps bandwidth and storage down, which matters when you run several cameras to one recorder.

It has a good plug-and-play reputation: it connects straight to Hikvision, HiLook and ONVIF NVRs, and works with Hik-Connect for remote viewing.

There are two practical limits to know.

This model has no microphone or audio, and the plain IPC-D140H (without the -M suffix) has no microSD slot, so it records to an NVR or NAS rather than on-board.

It comes in 2.8mm or 4mm fixed-lens options, so note your choice in the order comment, and it runs on PoE (802.3af) or 12V DC.

4MP Ultra HD

4MP captures roughly twice the detail of standard 1080p.

30m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness up to around 30m — enough for a typical driveway, front yard or entrance. People and vehicles stay clear in black-and-white, brighter the closer they are.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the IPC-D140H

Tough for the price

An IK10 metal dome with IP67 weatherproofing handles impact, dust and rain, giving solid protection in a budget camera.

Easy to install

It connects straight to Hikvision, HiLook and ONVIF NVRs over a single PoE cable, with a reputation for working first time.

Efficient recording

H.265+ compression cuts the bandwidth and storage each camera uses, which helps when several run to one recorder.

Backed locally

Supplied by an authorised HiLook dealer with a 3-year Australian warranty and support.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Shopfronts and offices

A discreet dome covers an entrance or counter, with the IK10 housing resisting knocks in busy areas.

Entries and corridors

Fixed-view coverage of a doorway or hallway, with 30m IR for the surrounding area at night.

Exposed walls and eaves

IP67 weatherproofing lets you mount it outdoors to watch a path, carport or side access.

Budget multi-camera systems

H.265+ keeps storage down when you fit several domes to one HiLook or Hikvision NVR.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Pick your lens

Choose 2.8mm for a wide 98-degree view or 4mm for a narrower 79-degree view with a little more reach, and note it in your order comment.

02

Power and cabling

Run one Cat5e/6 cable from a PoE (802.3af) switch or NVR port, or use a 12V DC supply.

03

Recording

This model has no microSD slot, so record to a HiLook or Hikvision NVR or a NAS on the network.

04

Setup

In Australia a network camera is usually fitted by a licensed security installer or a competent IT/cabling technician, who runs the Cat5e/6 cable, terminates the RJ45, mounts the unit and adds it to the NVR or app. Add it in Hik-Connect or your NVR and set motion detection zones.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the IPC-D140H

Q.01

Does it work with my Hikvision NVR?

Yes. It is ONVIF-compatible and connects to Hikvision and HiLook NVRs as well as other ONVIF recorders, and it works with iVMS-4200 and Hik-Connect.
Q.02

Does this model have an SD card slot?

No. The plain IPC-D140H has no microSD slot, so it records to an NVR or NAS. The -M variant is the one with an on-board card slot.
Q.03

Does it have a microphone or audio?

No. The IPC-D140H has no built-in microphone or audio input or output. Choose a different model if you need audio recording.
Q.04

How far does the night vision reach?

The built-in infrared covers up to 30 metres in darkness and switches automatically between colour and black-and-white via the IR cut filter.
Q.05

Can I power it over PoE?

Yes. It supports PoE (802.3af, Class 3) over a single Ethernet cable, or 12V DC. Most installers use PoE for simpler cabling.
Q.06

Which lens should I choose?

The 2.8mm gives a wider 98-degree field for entrances and open areas; the 4mm gives a narrower 79-degree view with more detail at distance.
Q.07

Is it tough enough for public areas?

Yes. It is IK10-rated against impact and IP67-rated against dust and water, so it suits exposed and higher-contact positions.
Q.08

How does it cope with Australian heat?

It operates from -30 to 60 degrees Celsius and is IP67-sealed, so it handles hot summers and heavy rain in most outdoor installations.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

02

Add storage

Fit a surveillance drive such as the 2TB or 6TB in the NVR, since this camera has no on-board card.

03

Add a Hikvision NVR option

It also works with Hikvision recorders such as the DS-7604NI-M1/4P if you mix brands over ONVIF.

04

Want audio or a card

If you need audio or on-board recording, a Hikvision model such as the DS-2CD2T66G2-4I adds a microSD slot.
