§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CD2T66G2-4I is

The Hikvision DS-2CD2T66G2-4I is a 6MP AcuSense outdoor bullet camera built for properties that need long-range night coverage.

The "-4I" reaches up to 80 metres of infrared, where the otherwise identical -2I reaches 60 metres, so it suits long driveways, rear yards and large open areas that a shorter IR range would leave dark.

AcuSense gen 2 deep learning is the main reason buyers choose this camera.

It classifies people and vehicles and ignores other movement, so possums, insects, rain and swaying branches stop triggering your phone, and recorded footage becomes searchable by human or vehicle events.

A 1/2.4" sensor with DarkFighter low-light tuning and 120dB WDR holds detail in high-contrast scenes such as a backlit gate or a driveway lit by headlights.

Night footage is infrared black and white, not full colour ColorVu.

It comes in 2.8mm, 4mm or 6mm fixed-lens options, so note your preferred lens in the order comment.

The IP67 metal housing handles dust and rain, a microSD card up to 256GB allows on-board recording without an NVR, and the camera runs on PoE (802.3af) or 12V DC.

It works with Hikvision AcuSense NVRs and the Hik-Connect app, and is normally fitted by a security or cabling technician.

What the DS-2CD2T66G2-4I features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

6MP Ultra HD

6MP captures around three times the detail of 1080p. Plenty of resolution to zoom into a face or number plate part-way down the driveway and still read it clearly.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD2T66G2-4I

Sees further at night

Up to 80m of infrared reaches across long driveways and large yards that a 30-40m camera would leave in the dark.

Targets real activity

AcuSense classifies people and vehicles, so animals, insects, rain and moving branches stop triggering alerts and footage stays searchable by event type.

Clear in hard light

A 1/2.4" DarkFighter sensor and 120dB WDR keep faces and plates readable against backlight, shadow and headlight glare.

Backed locally

Supplied by an authorised dealer with a 3-year Australian warranty and support.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Long driveways and rural blocks

The 80m IR covers a long approach end to end, with AI alerts aimed at vehicles and people rather than wildlife.

Warehouse yards and boundaries

Watch a fence line or loading area at night and let AcuSense flag intruders, not blowing rubbish or rain.

Front yards and entries

A 4mm lens frames a typical front yard; faces and clothing stay clear against a backlit doorway by day.

Car parks and laneways

Use the 6mm lens for longer, narrower runs where you need reach and detail at distance.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Pick your lens

Choose 2.8mm for wide coverage, 4mm for general outdoor use, or 6mm for distance, and note the choice in your order comment.

02

Power and cabling

Run a single Cat5e/6 cable from a PoE (802.3af) switch or NVR port, or use a 12V DC supply where PoE is not available.

03

Mount and aim

Fix to a wall or eave 2.5-3m high, angle down across the area to cover, and frame the view for the chosen lens.

04

Setup

In Australia a network camera is usually fitted by a licensed security installer or a competent IT/cabling technician, who runs the Cat5e/6 cable, terminates the RJ45, mounts the unit and adds it to the NVR or app. Add it in Hik-Connect or your NVR, then set human and vehicle detection zones.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD2T66G2-4I

Q.01

What is the difference between the -2I and the -4I?

The only difference is infrared range: the -2I reaches up to 60 metres and the -4I up to 80 metres. Pick the -4I for long driveways and large open areas, and the -2I for typical residential coverage.
Q.02

Does it record in colour at night?

No. This is an infrared model, so night footage is black and white. If you need full-colour night images, look at a ColorVu or Smart Hybrid Light model instead.
Q.03

Will AcuSense stop false alarms from my cat or trees?

Yes. AcuSense only treats people and vehicles as alarm targets, so animals, insects and swaying foliage no longer trigger smart-event alerts.
Q.04

Can I power it over a single cable?

Yes. It runs on standard PoE (802.3af) over one Cat5e/6 cable, or on a 12V DC supply if you prefer a separate power source.
Q.05

Does it work with my older Hikvision NVR?

Yes, with GUI3 NVRs on current firmware. The AcuSense human and vehicle functions may need to be set up in the camera's own web interface rather than through the NVR.
Q.06

Can it record without an NVR?

Yes. It has a microSD slot supporting a card up to 256GB for standalone recording, and it also supports NAS and ANR network-loss buffering.
Q.07

Which lens size should I order?

Use 2.8mm for wide coverage in tight areas, 4mm for general outdoor use, and 6mm to reach faces or plates at longer distances. Note the choice in your order comment.
Q.08

Is it suitable for exposed Australian conditions?

Yes. It is IP67-rated against dust and water and runs from -30 to 60 degrees Celsius, which suits most outdoor positions.
