The Hikvision DS-2CD2T66G2-ISU/SL is a 6MP AcuSense active-deterrence bullet camera. When AcuSense detects a person or vehicle it can flash a strobe and play a 110dB siren or a custom warning, and it adds two-way audio and 60 metres of infrared for around-the-clock outdoor security.

The Hikvision DS-2CD2T66G2-ISU/SL is a 6MP AcuSense bullet camera built for active deterrence, not just recording.

When AcuSense detects a person or vehicle it can trigger a built-in strobe light and a 110dB audible warning, or play a custom voice message, to warn an intruder off before anything happens.

It also has two-way audio with a built-in microphone and 2W speaker, so you can listen and speak live through the Hik-Connect app.

Underneath the deterrence features it is a capable 6MP camera: a 1/2.4" DarkFighter sensor with 120dB WDR holds detail in low light and against backlight, AcuSense deep learning classifies people and vehicles to cut false alarms, and infrared reaches up to 60 metres at night.

It comes in 2.8mm, 4mm or 6mm fixed-lens options, so note your choice in the order comment.

Two setup points buyers raise: by default the strobe and siren respond to every person and vehicle, including family, so most users schedule them for night-time only; and the Hik-Connect "Do Not Disturb" setting only mutes phone notifications, not the physical siren, so remote arming and disarming is done through the camera web interface or a compatible Hikvision NVR.

The IP67 metal housing handles dust and rain, a microSD card allows on-board recording, and it runs on PoE (802.3af) or 12V DC.

Pick your lens

Choose 2.8mm for wide coverage, 4mm for general outdoor use, or 6mm for distance, and note it in your order comment.

Run a single Cat5e/6 cable from a PoE (802.3af) switch or NVR port, or use a 12V DC supply.

Schedule the deterrence

By default the strobe and siren trigger on every person or vehicle. Schedule them for night-time hours in the camera web interface or NVR for residential use.

Setup

In Australia a network camera is usually fitted by a licensed security installer or a competent IT/cabling technician, who runs the Cat5e/6 cable, terminates the RJ45, mounts the unit and adds it to the NVR or app. Add it in Hik-Connect or your NVR, set human and vehicle zones, and configure the strobe, siren and any custom audio warning.
