Does the white light flash every time it detects motion at night?
By default, the camera ships in Smart Mode — it uses IR (invisible, black & white) continuously, and only triggers the white light when a person or vehicle is detected. You can change this to IR-only, white light always-on, or Smart Mode via the camera's web interface or NVR settings.

Can I use this camera with my existing Hikvision NVR?
Yes, it is compatible with Hikvision NVRs that support AcuSense and Smart Hybrid Light cameras. Ensure your NVR firmware is up to date, as older firmware versions may not recognise the smart event and human/vehicle detection features of this camera.

Does this camera require a PoE switch, or can it run off my NVR's PoE ports?
This camera draws up to 18 W over PoE (IEEE 802.3at, Class 4). Most standard NVR PoE ports are limited to 15.4 W per port (802.3af), which is insufficient. You'll need an 802.3at (PoE+) capable NVR or a dedicated PoE+ switch to power it reliably.

How do I adjust the motorised zoom lens after installation?
The lens can be adjusted remotely through the NVR interface or camera web browser — no physical access to the camera is needed after mounting. This makes it easy to fine-tune the field of view from 112° (wide) down to 41° (telephoto) without getting on a ladder.

Will this camera still record in colour at night without the white light on?
No. Without the white light active, the camera switches to IR mode and records in black and white. Full-colour night footage requires either the white light mode or Smart Mode, which triggers the white light upon detecting a person or vehicle.

Can I reduce false alarms from trees and animals moving at night?
Yes. The built-in AcuSense deep learning feature filters motion events to only alert on humans and vehicles. Events like swaying trees, insects, or passing animals will not trigger notifications, significantly reducing unwanted alerts.
