§ 01Overview

What this product is

Lens: motorised 2.7–13.5mm vari-focal. IK10 vandal-resistant dome.

The DH-IPC-HDBW3849R1-ZAS-PV is the TiOC for places where someone might hit the camera. The IK10 dome housing is rated to shrug off a 20-joule impact — Dahua's test is a 5kg hammer dropped from 40 centimetres — which makes it the pick for mounting heights within reach: stairwells, entries, loading docks, anywhere a turret's exposed body invites a whack or a re-aim.

Inside the dome is the full deterrence package: red and blue lights, siren and voice warnings through the speaker, warm-light full-colour event capture, two-way talk through dual mics, and one-tap disarming in DMSS. The motorised 2.7–13.5mm lens frames the view from the app — 108° wide down to a tight 34° — with 50 metres of infrared, 40 of warm light, and an 8MP F1.0 sensor rated 0.004 lux in colour. SMD 4.0 keeps alerts to humans and vehicles, with Quick Pick search on a Dahua AI NVR.

The trade-offs of the form: domes mount flush to ceilings and soffits rather than swivelling on a bracket, the housing is rated -30°C to +60°C, and MicroSD backup tops out at 256GB. PoE-powered, metal build, ONVIF conformant with Milestone listed.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use it

01

The TiOC that takes a hit

IK10 means a deliberate blow bounces off — the right call at ground-floor entries, stairwells and docks where exposed cameras get grabbed, taped or re-aimed.

02

Deterrence at hand height

Most vandal domes just survive; this one answers back with red and blue lights, a siren voice and a full-colour recording of whoever tried.

03

Zoom without touching it

The motorised lens re-frames from the app — useful twice over on a camera mounted where ladders and re-aiming hands shouldn't go.

04

Eave-height instead?

Honest fit: out of reach under an eave, the cheaper ZAS turret gives the same zoom, sensor and deterrence without the armour — pay for IK10 only where contact is plausible.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

01

Ground-floor entries and lobbies

Mounting at door height puts cameras within reach — IK10 keeps this one watching, and the voice warning answers anyone who tests it.

02

Stairwells and underpasses

Enclosed public spaces where hardware gets hit: flush dome mounting, vandal rating and two-way audio in one unit.

03

Loading docks and roller doors

Zoom frames the dock from a flush ceiling mount; 50m infrared covers the yard beyond when the doors are open.

04

Schools and community buildings

After-hours deterrence with hardware that survives contact — SMD 4.0 keeps balls and birds out of the alerts, lights and voice answer actual intruders.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-HDBW3849R1-ZAS-PV Camera × 1 2. Power Connector × 1 3. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Power: any 802.3af PoE NVR port or switch (5.8W typical, with lights and speaker adding load at peak). A separate 12V DC adapter is only needed without PoE. 2. Network: a wired Ethernet run back to your NVR or switch — PoE carries power and video together on the same line. 3. Mounting: flush to a ceiling, soffit or wall plate — the dome form is built for surfaces, not swivel brackets. Torx security screws are part of the vandal-resistant design, so keep the driver with your tools.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, create an account and scan the device QR code. 2. Set the zoom and focus from the app first — frame the entry or dock before drawing any zones. 3. Then draw tripwire and intrusion zones on the framed view, and pick the warning voice and light schedule through the camera's web interface.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked

Q.01

How tough is IK10 actually?

It's the highest rating on the IEC impact scale: the enclosure withstands 20 joules, which Dahua tests as a 5kg hammer dropped from 40 centimetres, five times over. That covers thrown objects, bumps from equipment and deliberate strikes — it buys time and evidence, not invincibility against tools and determination.
Q.02

How do the deterrence features actually work?

When someone crosses a tripwire or enters an intrusion zone you've drawn, the camera reacts on the spot: the red and blue lights flash, the built-in speaker plays a siren or voice warning, and the warm light switches on so the whole event records in full colour. It ships with multiple warning voices and supports importing your own recordings.
Q.03

Can I turn the lights and siren off when I don't want them?

Yes — one-tap disarming in the DMSS app pauses all event linkage while you're expecting visitors, the web interface schedules deterrence by time of day or sets light-only with no sound, and there's a wired arm/disarm option through the alarm input for integrators.
Q.04

Will the siren and strobes annoy my neighbours?

They can if zones are drawn carelessly — this is a camera that reacts out loud. Draw tripwires and intrusion zones tight to your own property so footpath traffic never triggers them, schedule sound off overnight, or run light-only mode. If the camera would face a shared driveway or a tight terrace street, the quieter 3866 WizSense turret records the same AI events without the theatrics.
Q.05

How far can it see at night?

The F1.0 lens records colour down to 0.004 lux. In full darkness the infrared reaches 50 metres and the warm light 40 — when a person or vehicle is detected, the warm light fires and the event records in full colour. At full 13.5mm zoom it identifies to about 25.7 metres.
Q.06

Is this a PTZ camera?

No — it's a motorised vari-focal: zoom and focus adjust from the app, then the view stays put. A PTZ pans and tilts on command all day; this dome is for framing one view precisely from a flush mount.
Q.07

Dome, turret or bullet — which form do I want?

Dome where hands can reach it (IK10 armour, flush mounting). Turret under eaves and soffits — discreet and easy to aim. Bullet on boundaries where visible hardware is itself the message. This is the only one of the three rated to take a deliberate hit.
Q.08

Which NVR do I need for this camera?

Any current Dahua PoE NVR records it. SMD classification, Quick Pick search and full event linkage want an AI model such as the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ or DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ used in our kits.
Q.09

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

Yes — it is ONVIF conformant (Profile S, G and T) and lists Milestone integration in the datasheet. You keep video and basic motion events; SMD classification and the light-and-siren event linkage need a Dahua AI NVR.
Q.10

Can I use this camera without an NVR?

You can — it takes a MicroSD card up to 256GB (not included), streams to the DMSS app, and the deterrence features work stand-alone. Most buyers still pair it with an NVR for longer retention and AI search; treat the SD slot as backup.
Q.11

Can I talk through the camera from my phone?

Yes — dual built-in microphones and a speaker give genuine two-way talk through the DMSS app: hear what's happening and speak to whoever is there, live.
Q.12

Is a Dahua camera safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This camera does not need a cloud account: it records to your NVR, works fully offline, and supports HTTPS and firmware encryption. If you want zero outbound traffic, put the system on an isolated network — it still records locally.
Q.13

What warranty coverage applies in Australia?

The camera includes a 3-year warranty covering defects. Installation labour is not covered.
