Description

The TP-Link VIGI C485 is an 8MP (4K) full-colour turret camera that records in true colour day and night. Its turret housing aims neatly under an eave or on a ceiling and resists glare, while 4K resolution captures faces, plates and fine detail you can zoom into later. White LEDs hold full colour to about 30 metres after dark, with infrared on hand for a discreet view. Human and vehicle AI, two-way audio and an active-deterrence light and siren mean it can warn someone off, not just record them. It runs over one PoE cable or 12 V DC behind an IP67 metal body.

What the VIGI C485 is

The TP-Link VIGI C485 is an 8MP outdoor turret camera that keeps recording in true colour around the clock. At 4K (3840 × 2160) it captures the kind of detail that makes faces, clothing and number plates usable as evidence, and its turret shape mounts cleanly under an eave or on a ceiling while resisting the glare a bullet camera can catch from its own light.

Through the night it holds full colour using a high-sensitivity sensor and built-in white LEDs to about 30 metres, and it can switch to 850 nm infrared, also to 30 metres, when you want a discreet black-and-white view. Human and vehicle classification filters out animals, foliage and shadows so you are alerted to people and cars, the built-in microphone and speaker give you two-way audio, and the camera can flash its white light and sound an alarm to actively deter an intruder. Smart events such as line-crossing, intrusion and loitering let you set precise rules.

It comes in a 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens, sits behind an IP67 metal housing for Australian weather, and records efficiently with H.265+ to a VIGI NVR or a microSD card of up to 512 GB. One PoE cable carries power and data, or use 12 V DC. If you want TP-Link's latest analytics in the same 8MP turret shape, the InSight S485 is the newer model with advanced people and vehicle search; the C485 covers the same core job at a sharper price. What's in the box

One VIGI C485 turret camera with mounting accessories, waterproof cable attachments and a quick start guide. An NVR, PoE switch or power supply, network cable and any microSD card are supplied separately.

Installation requirements

Fit it to a wall or ceiling aimed across the area, run one network cable to a PoE switch or VIGI NVR (or use 12 V DC), and activate it in the VIGI app or Security Manager. Set the lens, night mode, AI rules and deterrence schedule, then test the view before relying on it.

Does the VIGI C485 record in colour at night?
Yes. It keeps full colour in low light using a high-sensitivity sensor and built-in white LEDs to around 30 metres, and it can switch to 850 nm infrared, also to 30 metres, for a discreet black-and-white view. You set the mode or let it switch automatically.

What is the difference between the C485 and the InSight S485?
Both are 8MP 4K full-colour turret cameras with the same core hardware — two-way audio, active deterrence, IP67 and H.265+. The InSight S485 is the newer model and adds advanced people and vehicle analytics for attribute-based search. The C485 covers the same everyday monitoring at a sharper price.

Does it have two-way audio and active deterrence?
Yes. A built-in microphone and speaker let you listen and speak through the camera, and on a detected person or vehicle it can flash its white light and sound an audible alarm to warn the intruder off while sending you a push notification.

Which lens should I choose?
The 2.8 mm lens gives a wide 111.4° view for open areas like yards and shopfronts. The 4 mm lens is tighter at 91.5° and reaches further, detecting to 107 metres, which suits driveways, entrances and longer approaches.

How is it powered?
Over a single network cable using PoE (802.3af/at), so one run carries power and data, or from a 12 V DC supply. PoE is the usual choice with a VIGI NVR, which supplies power on each built-in port.

Will it work with my existing Hikvision or Dahua NVR?
Yes, as long as that recorder supports ONVIF. The C485 supports ONVIF (Profile S/T/G) and RTSP, so it can be added to many third-party NVRs and software. For the full smart-event and management experience, pair it with a TP-Link VIGI NVR.
