§ 01Overview

What the DS-2DE5425IWG-K/4G-1 is

The Hikvision DS-2DE5425IWG-4G is a 4 MP pan-tilt-zoom camera built for places a normal camera cannot reach: paddocks, construction sites, remote gates and rural property where there is no network cable and often no mains power.

It carries a SIM slot and sends its video over the 4G mobile network, so you watch and control it from anywhere there is mobile coverage, and its low-power and sleep modes, drawing as little as a few watts, let it run from a solar panel and battery instead of the grid.

The 25x optical zoom is the standout.

From a single high mount it can show a wide paddock or yard and then zoom right in to read a number plate or identify a person at distance, with 16x digital zoom on top, plus 300 preset positions and 8 patrols to automate a tour of the site.

A 1/2.8" sensor records 2560 x 1440 video with 120 dB Wide Dynamic Range for scenes that mix bright sky and shadow.

At night, infrared reaches a long way, up to 150 m, so the camera keeps watch over a large dark area in black and white.

It is built for tough, unattended sites.

The IP66 housing handles rain and dust, 6000 V surge protection guards against storms, and a built-in heater and defog keep the lens clear in cold and damp conditions.

On-camera smart events such as line crossing and intrusion help flag activity, and it records to a microSD card up to 256 GB or to a network recorder where one is available.

A 4G data SIM is required and is not included, so arrange a suitable mobile plan for the data the camera will use.

This is a long-range monitoring camera rather than a close-up audio or talk-back device.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2DE5425IWG-K/4G-1

Works where there is no cable

4G mobile connectivity lets you place it at a remote gate, paddock or site with no fixed internet, and watch it from anywhere with coverage.

Runs off solar

Low-power and sleep modes drop the draw to a few watts, so a solar panel and battery can keep it running off-grid.

See far, in detail

A 25x optical zoom and infrared to 150 m reach distant fence lines and approaches that a fixed camera cannot cover.

Built for unattended sites

An IP66 housing, 6000 V surge protection and a heater with defog keep it working through storms, cold and damp without a site visit.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Rural and farm property

Watch a remote gate, shed or paddock over 4G and zoom into activity at distance, powered by solar where there is no mains.

Construction and temporary sites

Drop it onto a pole for the length of a project, with mobile data and solar power and no trenching for cables.

Remote infrastructure

Monitor a pump station, tank or substation in the field, with long-range zoom and storm-grade protection.

Large open areas

One high mount with a 25x zoom and long infrared covers a yard, quarry or car park that would need several fixed cameras.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Camera and mounting hardware with the quick start guide. A 4G data SIM, microSD card, solar or mains power and any pole bracket are arranged separately.

02

Mounting

Fit it high on a pole, wall or corner so the zoom can reach across the site and the pan and tilt can sweep the area. A clear sky view helps both 4G signal and any solar panel.

03

Power and SIM

Provide 12 VDC from a solar-and-battery kit or a mains supply, and fit a 4G data SIM with a plan sized for the camera's data use. Set low-power mode to extend solar runtime.

04

Setup tips

Program preset positions and patrols to tour the site automatically, and place the camera and any solar panel where they get strong mobile signal and good sun through the day.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2DE5425IWG-K/4G-1

Q.01

How does the DS-2DE5425IWG-4G connect without internet?

It uses the 4G mobile network. A data SIM in the camera sends video over mobile data, so you can place it where there is no fixed internet, such as a remote gate, paddock or construction site, as long as there is mobile coverage.
Q.02

Does it come with a SIM card and a solar panel?

A 4G data SIM is required and is not included, so you arrange a mobile plan to suit the data the camera will use. Solar panels and batteries are sold as kits or separately; this listing is the camera, so confirm your power setup when you order.
Q.03

How far can it see at night?

Infrared reaches up to 150 metres, so it covers a large dark area, though the image at night is black and white under infrared. The long reach pairs with the 25x zoom to watch distant fence lines and approaches.
Q.04

Why does the night-vision distance not show a fixed label here?

Its 150 metre infrared range is well beyond our standard night-vision tiers, so we describe it in the text rather than force it into a shorter category. The point to take away is that it reaches much further than a typical fixed camera.
Q.05

How does it manage power for solar use?

It has performance, low-power and sleep modes, drawing only a few watts in low-power mode and a fraction of a watt asleep. That low draw is what lets a solar panel and battery keep it running off-grid through normal weather cycles.
Q.06

Does it detect people and vehicles?

It runs smart events such as line crossing and intrusion detection to flag activity in an area. The datasheet does not list dedicated human and vehicle classification on this model, so we do not claim it; treat the smart events as scene-based rules.
Q.07

Does it record sound or have two-way audio?

No. The datasheet lists only line-level audio in and out, with no built-in microphone or speaker, so it does not record sound on its own and is not a talk-back camera. Add an external microphone to the audio input if you need audio.
Q.08

Where does it store footage?

It records to a microSD card up to 256 GB inside the camera, which suits an off-grid site, and it can also send footage to a network recorder or storage where one is available over the 4G or local link.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record and review it

For a wired hub site, send it to a Hikvision NVR such as the 8-channel DS-7608NI-I2/8P and add a large surveillance drive like the 8 TB drive for continuous footage; off-grid it records to its own microSD card.

02

Add a fixed long-range PTZ

On a hub site with power and network, pair it with the DS-2DF5225X-AE3 for a recessed or surface-mount 25x view alongside the 4G unit.

03

Store footage on the camera

Fit a microSD card up to 256 GB so the camera keeps recording locally even when the 4G link is busy or briefly drops.
