§ 01Overview

What the DS-7608NI-I2/8P-4tb is

The Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P is an 8-channel network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports and a 4TB surveillance hard drive already installed, so it records straight out of the box.

It is the AcuSense model in Hikvision's I-series, which means the recorder itself runs deep-learning analytics to tell people and vehicles apart from other movement and cut down nuisance motion alerts — useful even if your cameras are older models without AcuSense built in.

Each of the eight PoE ports powers and connects a camera over a single network cable (802.3af/at, up to 120 W total), and the recorder accepts IP cameras up to 12MP with 80 Mbps of incoming bandwidth.

It outputs to a monitor in 4K over HDMI with a simultaneous 1080p VGA feed, records efficiently with H.265+ to stretch the 4TB of included storage, and takes a second SATA drive (up to 16TB per bay) when you need more recording time.

You watch live and play back from anywhere with the free Hik-Connect app.

It is genuine Australian Hikvision stock with local warranty and support.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-7608NI-I2/8P-4tb

AcuSense in the recorder

Deep-learning human and vehicle filtering runs on the NVR itself, so you get fewer false alarms even with older cameras that do not have AcuSense built in.

Ready to record

A 4TB surveillance-grade drive is installed and the eight PoE ports power your cameras, so the system works out of the box with no extra parts to buy.

4K clarity and efficient storage

4K HDMI output and H.265+ compression give you sharp footage on screen while stretching the included storage further.

Room to grow

A second SATA bay (up to 16TB) lets you extend retention, and the recorder handles cameras up to 12MP as you upgrade.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Homes and small business

Run up to eight cameras over the entry, driveway, yard and interior, with AcuSense alerts focused on people and vehicles.

Upgrading older systems

Add recorder-side AcuSense to a site whose existing cameras do not have it, sharpening motion alerts without replacing every camera.

Retail and offices

Cover entries, tills and floor areas in 4K with several weeks of recording on the included 4TB drive.

Remote-monitored sites

View and play back all channels from anywhere on Hik-Connect, with push alerts on human and vehicle events.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR with a 4TB HDD installed, power supply and mouse. Cameras, network cable and a monitor are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Run Cat5e or Cat6 from the NVR's PoE ports to each camera (keep runs within about 100 m), connect the NVR to a monitor by HDMI and to your router for remote access, then add it to Hik-Connect. Add a second SATA drive if you need longer retention. Professional installation is recommended for cabling and mounting.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-7608NI-I2/8P-4tb

Q.01

Does the DS-7608NI-I2/8P come with a hard drive?

Yes. A 4TB surveillance-grade hard drive is installed and ready to record out of the box. There is a second SATA bay for a further drive of up to 16TB if you want longer retention.
Q.02

What is the difference between the I2 and the M2 version?

The I2 is the AcuSense model: it runs deep-learning human and vehicle analytics in the recorder, which helps even with older cameras that lack AcuSense. The DS-7608NI-M2/8P is the M-series, which does not add recorder-side AcuSense but offers higher incoming bandwidth and decoding (up to 32MP) and 8K output. Choose the I2 for recorder-side smart analytics, or the M2 for raw performance if your cameras already have AcuSense.
Q.03

How many cameras can I connect?

It is an 8-channel recorder with 8 built-in PoE ports, so it powers and connects up to eight IP cameras directly over one cable each, with no separate switch or power supplies needed.
Q.04

What does AcuSense actually do?

AcuSense uses deep-learning analytics to classify movement as a person or a vehicle, so you can focus alerts and recording on those and ignore things like wind-blown trees, rain or shadows. This sharply reduces nuisance notifications compared with basic motion detection.
Q.05

What resolution cameras does it support?

It records IP cameras up to 12MP and outputs to a monitor at up to 4K over HDMI, with a simultaneous 1080p VGA output for a second screen.
Q.06

How long will the 4TB drive record for?

It depends on the number of cameras, their resolution and frame rate, and whether you record continuously or on motion. With H.265+ and AcuSense motion recording, 4TB typically holds several weeks from a set of cameras; continuous high-resolution recording on all channels will be shorter, and you can add a second drive to extend it.
Q.07

Can I view it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the NVR to your router and add it to the free Hik-Connect app to watch live video and play back recordings from your phone or tablet, at home or away.
Q.08

Will it work with non-Hikvision cameras?

It is designed for Hikvision and HiLook IP cameras for full plug-and-play and AcuSense support. It also supports ONVIF, so many third-party IP cameras will connect, though some advanced features may not be available.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

03

Extend the storage

Add a second surveillance drive such as a 6TB or 10TB for longer retention.

04

Need more performance instead?

For higher bandwidth, 32MP support and 8K output, compare the DS-7608NI-M2/8P.
