§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL is

The Hikvision DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U/SL is an 8 MP AcuSense mini bullet built around active deterrence, not just recording.

A 1/1.8" sensor with a bright F1.0 lens captures sharp 8 MP (3840 x 2160) images, and 120 dB Wide Dynamic Range holds detail in high-contrast light such as a bright driveway against a shaded wall.

This is an AcuSense camera, not a ColorVu or DarkFighter model: its night vision is infrared up to 40 m, so the standard night image is black and white.

AcuSense deep learning runs on the camera itself, classifying people and vehicles and triggering perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion only on those targets.

That cuts the false alarms that moving branches, rain and animals cause on a basic motion camera.

When a person or vehicle breaks a rule you have set, the camera responds on its own: the /SL white light flashes as a strobe and the speaker sounds an audible alarm, which moves an intruder on before they act.

Two built-in microphones and a built-in speaker also give two-way audio, so an operator can listen to a scene and talk back through the camera.

The white light works as an active-deterrence strobe rather than a constant ColorVu light, though it can be set to stay on for full-colour images where you want them.

It is a compact metal bullet rated IP67 against dust and water, with a microSD slot up to 512 GB and H.265+ compression to keep storage down.

Fixed 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens options set the view, and it runs on PoE (802.3at) or 12 VDC, so confirm your switch or NVR supplies 802.3at.

Record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR so the events and audio stay easy to review.

What the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

8MP Ultra HD

8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.

40m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 40m, reaching further across a larger yard or laneway. Subjects appear in clear black-and-white, sharper and brighter as they get closer.

Human/Vehicle Detection

Smart detection focuses on people and vehicles and can ignore things like swaying branches, rain or small animals — helping cut down false alerts and making the right moments easier to find.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

Two-Way Audio

Talk and listen in real time through the app — tell a courier where to leave a parcel, or speak to someone at the gate, whether you're home or away.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL

Stops trouble, not just records it

A flashing strobe and audible alarm respond to a detected person or vehicle in real time.

Fewer false alarms

AcuSense classifies people and vehicles, so alerts and deterrence come from real targets, not weather and animals.

Talk and listen on site

Two built-in microphones and a speaker give two-way audio to greet visitors or warn intruders.

Sharp 8 MP detail

A 1/1.8" sensor and F1.0 lens with 120 dB WDR hold detail in bright and shaded scenes.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Homes and driveways

Flash the strobe and sound a warning the moment a person is detected after dark.

Retail and storefronts

Greet customers with two-way audio by day and deter loiterers with the strobe and alarm by night.

Yards and building sites

Challenge trespassers live and keep clear 8 MP footage of who entered and when.

Car parks and perimeters

Run line-crossing rules along a boundary and trigger the deterrence only on people and vehicles.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U/SL bullet camera with a mounting template, fixings and a quick guide. The PoE switch or NVR, network cable, microSD card and any junction box are supplied separately.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it on a wall or eave aimed along the area to cover, and run one network cable back to a PoE (802.3at) switch or NVR, or use 12 VDC. Set the AcuSense rules, strobe and audio responses in the software, and record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR. A junction box tidies the cabling on a flat wall.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL

Q.01

Does the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U/SL record in colour at night?

Its standard night vision is infrared up to 40 m, so the normal night image is black and white. This is an AcuSense camera rather than a ColorVu model. The white light is a flashing deterrent strobe, although you can set it to stay on for full-colour images in the area it lights.
Q.02

How does the active deterrence work?

When AcuSense detects a person or vehicle breaking a rule you have set, the camera flashes its white strobe and plays an audible alarm through the speaker. That moves an intruder on in real time rather than just recording the event. The strobe and alarm behaviour can be customised.
Q.03

Does it have two-way audio?

Yes. It has two built-in microphones and a built-in speaker, so an operator can listen to a scene and talk back through the camera, for example to greet a delivery or challenge someone after hours.
Q.04

How does AcuSense cut false alarms?

AcuSense uses deep learning to classify people and vehicles, so perimeter rules such as line crossing and intrusion alarm only on those targets. Moving branches, rain and animals are far less likely to trigger an alert than on a basic motion camera.
Q.05

What lens and view does it have?

It comes with a fixed 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens. The 2.8 mm gives a wide view for a yard or wall, and the 4 mm gives a longer, narrower view. Pick the lens to match the area you want to cover, as the focus is fixed.
Q.06

What power and recorder does it need?

It runs on PoE (802.3at) over one network cable, or on 12 VDC. The strobe and speaker draw more than a basic camera, so make sure your switch or NVR supplies 802.3at. Record it to a Hikvision AcuSense NVR to keep the events and audio searchable.
Q.07

Is it suitable for outdoors in Australia?

Yes. It has an IP67-rated metal housing against dust and water and a wide operating temperature range, so it suits exposed walls and eaves through heat, dust and rain.
Q.08

How much footage can it store on board?

It has a microSD slot that takes a card up to 512 GB for local recording or edge backup, which keeps footage on the camera if the network or recorder drops out.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record and review it

Feed it to a Hikvision AcuSense recorder such as the 8-channel DS-7608NI-M2/8P, or the 16-channel DS-7616NI-M2/16P for larger sites. Add a surveillance-grade drive like the 8 TB for weeks of continuous footage.

02

Power it over one cable

Run a single network cable per camera from a PoE source. The HiLook 8-port PoE switch feeds several cameras and the recorder, keeping the cabling tidy on multi-camera sites.

03

Mount it cleanly

A DS-1260ZJ junction box tidies the cabling and screw runs behind the bullet and gives a neat finish on a wall or eave.
