What the DH-IPC-HDBW3466FP-AS-AUS is

The Dahua DH-IPC-HDBW3466FP-AS-AUS is a 4 MP WizSense mini dome for sites that want intelligent detection in a small, hard-to-tamper housing.

It captures 2688 x 1520 detail through a fixed 2.8 mm wide lens, and SMD 4.0 uses deep learning to classify human and vehicle targets, so motion alarms and perimeter rules such as tripwire and intrusion focus on real activity and ignore animals and weather.

Starlight technology gives it strong low-light performance, holding usable colour as light fades before a 30 m infrared illuminator takes over in full darkness.

120 dB WDR balances bright and dark areas in the same frame, and a built-in microphone records audio alongside the video.

The dome is rated IP67 against dust and rain and IK10 against impact, so it suits entrances, shopfronts and walls indoors or out.

Two honest notes: it has a built-in microphone but no speaker, so it records audio rather than offering two-way talk on its own.

And like any infrared camera, its night images in full darkness are black-and-white; the Starlight sensor extends colour into low light but is not an always-on full-colour white-light camera.

Power it from PoE or 12 VDC and record it to a Dahua WizSense NVR.

One DH-IPC-HDBW3466FP-AS-AUS 4MP mini dome camera with mounting template and fixings. The microSD card, power supply or PoE source and any NVR are supplied separately.

Installation requirements

Mount it on a wall, eave or ceiling over the area to cover and power it from a PoE switch or NVR or a 12 VDC supply. Connect the network, set the day and night and SMD perimeter rules in the software, and add it to a Dahua NVR for recording and event search.

Does the HDBW3466FP record in colour at night?

Its Starlight sensor keeps colour in low light, but in full darkness it switches to a 30 m infrared illuminator and the image is black-and-white. It is not an always-on full-colour white-light camera; for permanent colour at night choose a dual-light or full-colour model.

Does it have two-way audio?

It has a built-in microphone so it records audio with the video, but it does not have a built-in speaker, so it is not a two-way talk camera on its own. You can add an external speaker through a recorder if you need talk-back.

What does SMD 4.0 do?

SMD 4.0 uses deep learning to classify human and vehicle targets and filter out other movement such as animals, rain and swaying trees. That cuts false alarms and makes searching recorded footage by people or vehicles much faster.

Yes. It is rated IP67 against dust and heavy rain and IK10 against impact, so the dome stands up to weather and tampering at entrances, car parks and public areas.

How wide is the view from the 2.8 mm lens?

The fixed 2.8 mm lens gives a wide field of view, good for covering a doorway, room or driveway from a close-to-medium distance. It does not zoom, so for a tight long-range view you would choose a varifocal model.

How is it powered?

It runs on PoE (802.3af) or a 12 VDC supply. PoE is the usual choice as one cable carries power and data from a PoE NVR or switch.
