The Dahua DHI-ITC215-PW6M-IRLZF-B is a 2MP ANPR camera built specifically for short-range vehicle entries such as boom gates, residential estate gates and car park lanes. Unlike a general surveillance camera, it runs a dedicated number plate recognition engine that reads the plate and identifies vehicle attributes including type, logo, series and colour, and can flag vehicles with no visible plate. Fix the camera so it has a near-straight view of the number plate within roughly 3 to 6m, as both distance and angle affect read accuracy. Test with the actual vehicles used at the site.

Provide PoE+ from a capable switch or injector, or a 12V DC or 24V AC supply. Standard PoE may not deliver enough power for the camera and illuminator.

Alongside the plate, the deep-learning engine recognises vehicle type, logo, series and colour, and can flag vehicles that show no plate. This gives richer access logs and helps with incident review, so each entry event records structured vehicle data rather than just video.

Can it open a boom gate or barrier directly?
Yes. It has alarm inputs and relay outputs that connect to a boom barrier or gate controller, so a recognised plate can trigger the gate to open. In many single-lane installations this removes the need for a separate trigger device at the entry point.

Why does the lens spec differ from some listings?
The official Dahua datasheet for this model lists a motorised 3.2-10.5mm lens. Some third-party listings quote a different range, so we have followed the datasheet figure. The lens is motorised, so you set the exact capture zone from the recorder after mounting.

Does it record audio?
No. The camera has line-level audio input and output terminals for connecting external audio devices, but it does not have a built-in microphone or speaker. On its own it does not capture on-site audio.
