§ 01Overview

What this product is

Lens options: 2.8mm focal length.
Color options: White or Black.
Note: Please indicate your choice in your order message.

This 4-camera 4K kit pairs four DH-IPC-HDW3866EMP-S-AUS 8MP turrets with the 8-channel DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ recorder and a pre-installed 4TB surveillance drive — recording starts as soon as the cameras are plugged in.

Four cameras is the standard single-storey layout — entry, driveway, backyard, side access — and at 8MP each view holds enough detail to zoom into recorded footage and still read it. Faces identify to about 8.8 metres, and SMD 4.0 classifies humans and vehicles so the recorder only alerts on what matters.

The 8CH NVR keeps four spare PoE channels — the buy-once option if more cameras are on the horizon. Four 4K streams fill the 4TB drive in around two weeks of continuous recording; upgrade the drive with the kit customiser on this page if you record continuously.

Technical specifications

- 4 x 8MP 4K WizSense Turrets: 3840 × 2160 sensors — identify-grade detail to 8.8 metres and footage you can zoom into afterwards.
- 8CH AI NVR: DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ with PoE on every channel — four channels spare for future cameras.
- 4TB Surveillance HDD pre-installed: around 2 weeks of continuous 4K footage from four cameras, far longer on motion-only recording.
- SMD 4.0 + Quick Pick: the NVR's AI search pulls every human or vehicle event from a day of recordings in one pass.
- Perimeter Protection: tripwire and intrusion zones with human/vehicle classification, configured per camera.
- IP67 Metal Housings: rated from -40°C to +60°C for exposed Australian mounting positions.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use it

01

Everything in one box, recording day one

Cameras, AI recorder and a pre-installed 4TB drive arrive matched and ready — no compatibility guesswork, no separate HDD purchase, no subscriptions.

02

Four channels spare for later

Same four cameras, but on an 8CH recorder — the granny flat, shed or front gate can join the system later by just plugging in. Buying headroom now is far cheaper than replacing a recorder.

03

4K detail you can act on

After an incident you zoom into the recording — at 3840 × 2160 a face, a logo or a parked car stays readable where lower resolutions turn to blur. Faces identify to 8.8 metres.

04

Alerts that are worth opening

SMD 4.0 classifies humans and vehicles before notifying you, so the 2am alert is a person in your driveway — not a possum, headlights or rain.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

01

Single-storey family home

The classic four-corner layout: front door, driveway, backyard and side gate — every approach covered in 4K, with faces identifiable to 8.8 metres.

02

Well-lit shopfront

Daylight and good lighting are where 8MP earns its price — one camera covers the floor and the recording still holds detail at the edges. Check your state's rules before enabling the mics.

03

Townhouse with rear lane

Two cameras street-side, two on the courtyard and lane — SMD 4.0 separates passing traffic from someone actually entering.

04

Home you'll grow into

Start with the four key approaches and add the pool, shed or granny flat later — the spare channels mean new cameras just plug in.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the Box

1. Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3866EMP-S-AUS Camera × 4 2. DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ NVR with 4TB HDD installed × 1 3. NVR Power Adapter × 1 4. Quick Start Guide × 1

02

Installation Requirements

1. Each camera needs one Ethernet run back to the NVR — the PoE ports carry power and video together, up to 100m per run. 2. Mount on a solid wall or eave; under-eave positions keep lenses clear of direct rain and afternoon sun. 3. Connect the NVR to your router with a short Ethernet patch lead for remote viewing — works on all NBN connection types.

03

App Setup

1. Download the DMSS app, then scan the QR code shown on the NVR screen (Main Menu → Network → P2P). 2. Enable push notifications in DMSS so SMD alerts reach your phone. 3. Fine-tune detection zones per camera through the NVR or camera web interface.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked

Q.01

Is this kit ready to use out of the box?

Yes — the 4TB drive comes installed and formatted, and the PoE ports power all four cameras. Mount the cameras, run one Ethernet line from each to the NVR, and recording starts automatically at default settings.
Q.02

How long will the 4TB drive keep footage?

Around 2 weeks of continuous recording from four 4K cameras (roughly 60GB per camera per day), and a month or more on motion-only recording. The NVR overwrites the oldest footage automatically — for longer retention, upgrade the drive with the kit customiser before checkout.
Q.03

Can I add more cameras later?

Yes — the 8CH NVR has four spare PoE channels, and any current Dahua PoE camera plugs straight in. To keep AI features consistent, the same HDW3866 turret is the natural choice — you can also add cameras before checkout with the kit customiser.
Q.04

How far can the cameras see at night?

Each turret records colour down to 0.007 lux, then switches to infrared with a 30-metre range in full darkness. A note unique to 4K: eight million pixels share the available light, so night images run slightly dimmer than 6MP models — a sensor light at key spots keeps colour and detail up.
Q.05

Can the cameras identify faces and number plates?

With the 2.8mm lens, faces are reliably identifiable to about 8.8 metres — two metres further than the 6MP equivalent. Number plates still need daylight or good lighting: glare and headlights work against any camera at night.
Q.06

Should I choose a WizSense camera or a TiOC camera?

Both run the same Dahua AI — human and vehicle classification, SMD 4.0 and perimeter protection. The difference is how they respond. This kit's WizSense IR turrets record quietly: colour in low light, infrared in darkness. A TiOC camera such as the HDW3849 actively intervenes — when someone enters a detection zone it switches on a white light to record the event in full colour, can flash red and blue strobes, sound a siren, and lets you talk through its speaker from the DMSS app. Pick TiOC where you want intruders confronted; pick this kit's quieter turrets where you just want solid evidence and alerts.
Q.07

What's the difference between the 3866, the 3666 and the 3849?

All three are 3-series WizSense turrets with 30m night range. The 3866 (the cameras in this kit) is the 8MP detail pick — identify to 8.8 metres, zoomable 4K footage. The 3666 is the 6MP value pick, slightly stronger in very low light. The 3849 is the 8MP TiOC: an F1.0 lens (0.004 lux), a white light that captures detected events in full colour, plus strobes, siren and two-way talk — the deterrence pick at a higher price.
Q.08

What does the AI NVR actually do beyond recording?

Three things: it classifies SMD alerts so only humans and vehicles notify you, Quick Pick search pulls every person or vehicle event from hours of footage in one pass, and it runs tripwire and intrusion zones per camera. It also powers all four cameras over its PoE ports.
Q.09

Does SMD 4.0 really reduce false alarms from animals and weather?

Yes. SMD 4.0 uses AI to distinguish humans and vehicles from small animals, tree movement and rain, and AI SSA re-tunes the image in rain, fog and backlight, so far fewer junk notifications get through than basic motion detection.
Q.10

Do I need to pay any subscription?

No. Recording, AI detection and remote viewing through the DMSS app all run on your own hardware — no monthly fees and no cloud account requirement.
Q.11

Can I view the cameras on my phone away from home?

Yes — enable P2P on the NVR, scan the QR code in the DMSS app, and live view plus playback work over the internet. The system also works fully offline if you prefer no outside access.
Q.12

Will it work without internet?

Yes. Cameras record to the NVR on a closed local network. Internet is only needed for remote viewing and push notifications.
Q.13

Is a Dahua system safe to use in Australia?

Dahua equipment was removed from federal government sites in 2023 as a precaution, and there is no restriction on private or business use. This kit records locally to its own NVR, needs no cloud account, and supports HTTPS and encrypted firmware. On an isolated network it still records normally.
Q.14

What does the 3-year warranty cover?

Defects in the cameras and NVR for 3 years. The hard drive carries its own manufacturer warranty terms, and installation labour is not covered.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Why the 8CH recorder?

Four channels spare means the system grows with you — add cameras one at a time with no recorder swap. If you'll never go past four, the 4CH version of this kit saves a little upfront.

02

Recording continuously?

Four 4K streams fill 4TB in around two weeks. Upgrade to a larger surveillance drive with the kit customiser before checkout if you need longer history.

03

Add mounts where walls don't suit

The PFB204W wall mount and PFA130-E junction box handle carport posts and fascia boards where a straight mount doesn't fit.
