§ 01Overview

What the DHI-ARD821-W2 is

The Dahua DHI-ARD821-W2 is a single-button wireless panic button for the Dahua AirShield alarm system. Press it and it raises an immediate emergency alarm at the hub and on your phone — a fast way to call for help in an intrusion, fire, gas or medical situation, or simply a personal-safety alert for someone living alone. A multi-status LED shows pairing and signal, and you can read its battery level in the DMSS app.

It is built to be where you need it. The casing is IP54 rated against dust and splashes, it mounts on a wall by a bed or door, or clips to a keyring or bracket to carry, and it links to the hub over 868 MHz two-way radio with AES128 encryption and frequency hopping at up to 1,200 m in open space. Accidental-press prevention keeps a knock or a pocket from raising a false alarm.

Two honest notes: it is an accessory, not a complete alarm — it needs a Dahua AirShield hub to do anything, and you decide in the app what an SOS press does. If you want a version that needs two buttons pressed together to fire, look at the ARD822-W2. It runs on a CR2032 cell for around three years with a low-battery warning, and it is genuine Australian Dahua stock with local 3-year warranty and support.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-ARD821-W2

Help in one press

A single button raises an immediate emergency alarm for intrusion, fire or a medical scare, with the alert sent to the hub and your phone.

Where you need it

IP54 rated and small, it mounts by a bed or door or clips on to carry, so help is always within reach.

No false fires

Accidental-press prevention stops a knock or pocket from raising an alarm, while a real press still triggers easily.

Confirmed, secure link

868 MHz two-way radio with AES128 encryption and frequency hopping confirms each press and resists interference.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Personal safety at home

Keep one by the bed or carry it for a one-touch alarm, handy for elderly residents or anyone living alone.

Front counter or reception

Fit one under a shop counter or desk so staff can raise a discreet alarm during a hold-up or threat.

Medical and welfare alerts

Use it as a call-for-help button so a press brings family or the monitoring centre quickly.

Around the house and yard

Its IP54 rating lets you carry it to a patio, shed or pool area while staying in range of the hub.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DHI-ARD821-W2 panic button with a CR2032 battery; strap or bracket mounting options depending on the variant. A Dahua AirShield hub is required and not included.

02

Installation requirements

Enrol it to your AirShield hub in the DMSS app, then decide in the app what an SOS press does and who is notified. Mount it on a wall where it is easy to reach or carry it, and test a press to confirm a good two-way signal before relying on it.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DHI-ARD821-W2

Q.01

Does the ARD821-W2 work on its own?

No. It is a panic button for the Dahua AirShield system and needs an AirShield hub. The hub receives the SOS and decides what happens — sounding sirens, sending app, SMS or phone alerts — so on its own the button has nothing to signal.
Q.02

What happens when I press it?

It raises an immediate emergency alarm at the hub, which then alerts you and anyone else set up in the app, and can sound your sirens. You choose in DMSS whether the press is a silent or audible alarm and who gets notified.
Q.03

Can it be pressed by accident?

It is designed with accidental-press prevention so a brush or a knock in a pocket does not fire it, while a deliberate press still triggers easily. If you want a stricter two-button version, the ARD822-W2 needs both buttons pressed together.
Q.04

Is it weatherproof enough to use outside or by a pool?

It carries an IP54 rating, which resists dust and splashes — fine for a damp area, a patio or carrying outdoors, but it is not made to be submerged or left in driving rain like an outdoor siren.
Q.05

Can I carry it as well as mount it?

Yes. It can be fixed to a wall by a bed or door, or carried using strap or bracket options, so it works as both a fixed help button and a personal one you keep on you.
Q.06

How far can it be from the hub?

Up to 1,200 metres in open space. Through walls indoors the practical range is shorter, but it comfortably covers a normal home or small business where the button and hub are in or near the same building.
Q.07

How long does the battery last?

It runs on a single CR2032 coin cell for around three years in typical use, and the DMSS app shows its battery level so you get plenty of warning before a change is due.
Q.08

Is this genuine Australian Dahua stock?

Yes. It is the 868 MHz AirShield panic button supplied as genuine Australian Dahua stock with local 3-year warranty and support, matching the AirShield hubs and peripherals sold here.
