Bosch Blue Line Tritech PIR Detector 12m Pet Friendly up to 45KG BDL2-WP12G

Description

The Bosch BDL2-WP12G is a Blue Line Gen2 TriTech motion detector that combines passive infrared (PIR) with microwave detection, so both technologies have to agree before it raises an alarm. That dual-technology approach cuts false alarms, and a selectable pet-immunity mode lets it ignore one or two pets up to 45 kg while still catching intruders. It covers 12 m x 12 m wall-to-wall and is a wired detector for a hardwired Bosch alarm panel.

Key points
- TriTech detection: PIR plus microwave (10.525 GHz) must both agree to alarm
- Selectable pet immunity for one or two pets up to 45 kg (100 lb)
- 12 m x 12 m (40 ft) wall-to-wall coverage, 94° angle
- First Step Processing and dynamic temperature compensation
- Wired detector: normally-closed relay alarm output plus tamper
- Mounting height 2.2 m to 2.75 m, no field adjustments; EN50131 Grade 2
- Note: pet immunity is not assured if the detector is ceiling-mounted

§ 01Overview

What this product is

The Bosch BDL2-WP12G is a Blue Line Gen2 TriTech detector — a dual-technology motion sensor that pairs passive infrared with microwave Doppler radar. Because both the PIR and the microwave have to agree before it triggers, it is much less prone to the false alarms a single-technology PIR can produce from heat, drafts or moving objects. It covers a 12 m x 12 m area wall-to-wall at a 94° angle, enough for most rooms.

Its pet-friendly mode is selectable. With pet immunity turned on it distinguishes people from animals and ignores one or two pets up to 45 kg, or numerous rodents, while still detecting human intruders; with it turned off it gives full catch performance for pet-free areas. First Step Processing sets the sensitivity automatically so there is nothing to adjust in the field, microwave noise adaptive processing filters repetitive background movement, and dynamic temperature compensation keeps detection reliable across hot and cold conditions. A sealed optical chamber keeps drafts and insects out.

Some honest, practical detail: it is a wired detector with a normally-closed relay output and tamper, made to connect to a hardwired Bosch alarm panel rather than work wirelessly. The recommended mounting height is 2.2 m to 2.75 m with no adjustments needed, and it can be wall, corner or ceiling mounted — but note that pet immunity is no longer assured once it is ceiling-mounted. It is EN50131 Grade 2 certified and genuine Bosch stock with local warranty.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use it

Fewer false alarms

TriTech requires both PIR and microwave to agree before it alarms, so it shrugs off the heat, sunlight and drafts that can fool a single-technology PIR.

Pet-friendly when you need it

Selectable pet immunity ignores one or two pets up to 45 kg while still catching intruders, and can be switched off for pet-free rooms.

Set and forget

First Step Processing auto-sets sensitivity and temperature compensation keeps it accurate hot or cold, so there is nothing to adjust after mounting.

Reliable Bosch detection

Wall-to-wall 12 m coverage, a sealed optical chamber and EN50131 Grade 2 certification make it dependable in homes and small business.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Homes with pets

Protect a living room or hallway where a dog or cat roams, with pet immunity on for animals up to 45 kg.

False-alarm-prone rooms

Use the dual technology in rooms with heaters, sunlight or air movement where a plain PIR would trigger falsely.

Living rooms and offices

Cover a 12 m x 12 m room wall-to-wall from a single wall or corner position.

Upgrading a single-tech detector

Replace an older PIR that false-alarms with a TriTech detector for steadier, more trustworthy operation.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One BDL2-WP12G Blue Line Gen2 TriTech detector with installation hardware. The alarm panel and cabling are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Mount it level on a wall or in a corner at 2.2 m to 2.75 m, or on the ceiling with the optional B338 bracket if you do not need pet immunity. Wire the normally-closed alarm output to a detection zone and the tamper to a 24-hour circuit on your panel. Set pet immunity on or off to suit the room, then walk-test the coverage before arming. No field sensitivity adjustment is required.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked

Q.01

Will the BDL2-WP12G really ignore my pets?

When pet immunity is switched on, it is designed to ignore one or two pets up to 45 kg, or numerous rodents, while still detecting people. It is a selectable feature, so the installer turns it on for rooms with pets and can leave it off elsewhere for full catch performance. Keeping pets off furniture near the detector and mounting it at the right height helps it work best.
Q.02

What does TriTech mean and why is it better than a normal PIR?

TriTech means it uses two detection technologies together, passive infrared and microwave radar, and both have to agree before it alarms. A single PIR can be fooled by heat, sunlight or drafts, whereas requiring the microwave to confirm the movement makes the BDL2-WP12G far less prone to false alarms.
Q.03

Is it wired or wireless?

It is a wired detector. It has a normally-closed relay alarm output and a tamper output and connects by cable to a hardwired alarm panel, such as a Bosch Solution system. It is not a wireless detector.
Q.04

How big an area does it cover?

It covers 12 m x 12 m, about 40 ft by 40 ft, wall-to-wall at a 94 degree angle. That suits most living rooms, offices and similar spaces from a single wall or corner position.
Q.05

How high should I mount it?

The recommended mounting height is 2.2 m to 2.75 m, and no field adjustments are required within that range. Mounting it level, at the right height, gives the best catch performance and pet discrimination.
Q.06

Can I mount it on the ceiling?

It can be wall, corner or ceiling mounted, using the optional B338 universal ceiling-mount bracket for ceilings. Be aware that pet immunity is no longer assured once the detector is ceiling-mounted, so use a wall or corner position if pet immunity matters.
Q.07

Does it need adjusting after installation?

No. First Step Processing sets the sensitivity automatically and microwave noise adaptive processing and temperature compensation are built in, so there are no field sensitivity adjustments to make. You simply mount it at the right height and walk-test the coverage.
