§ 01Overview

What the NVR-108MH-K/8P(B) is

The HiLook NVR-108MH-K/8P(B) is an 8-channel Pro-series network video recorder built for Australian homes and small businesses that want plug-and-play cabling with real AI.

Its eight built-in PoE ports power and connect up to eight IP cameras over a single cable each, so you do not need a separate switch for a small system.

Unlike the entry C-series, this K-series model adds facial recognition: human face capture, comparison and search across up to 16 face libraries holding up to 20,000 faces in total.

It also runs human and vehicle Motion Detection 2.0 to cut false alarms from leaves, shadows and headlights.

Per HiLook's design these AI modes are allocated across channels rather than run on every channel at once, so you set them up to suit the site.

The official datasheet rates it to record and decode IP cameras up to 12MP (2-ch @ 12MP or 4-ch @ 8MP), comfortably covering HiLook's 8MP range with headroom.

It outputs 4K over HDMI with an independent 1080p VGA, carries two-way audio over RCA, and takes one SATA drive up to 16TB.

H.265+ compression cuts storage by up to 75%.

It is supplied without a hard drive, so you choose the capacity.

§ 02Engineering

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the NVR-108MH-K/8P(B)

Face recognition at an entry price

The K-series adds human face capture, comparison and search (16 libraries, 20,000 faces) that the basic C-series does not, without stepping up to enterprise gear.

Eight PoE ports built in

Up to eight cameras connect and power over a single cable each, so a typical small system needs no separate PoE switch.

12MP headroom

The datasheet rates recording and decoding up to 12MP, so it handles HiLook's 8MP cameras with room to spare and stays useful as you upgrade.

Fewer false alarms

Human and vehicle Motion Detection 2.0 ignores leaves, shadows and headlights, so notifications are about people and cars, not weather.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Homes and apartments

Cover entries, driveways and yards with up to eight PoE cameras and get human/vehicle alerts on your phone.

Retail and offices

Use face capture and search at counters, staff doors and entrances to review who came and went.

Warehouses and workshops

Record high-resolution footage efficiently with H.265+ for longer retention on a single drive.

Upgrading a C-series system

Move up from basic motion detection to facial recognition and smart search while keeping your HiLook cameras.

§ 06Setup

04

AI and remote access

Build face libraries and enable Motion Detection 2.0 per channel, then scan the HiLookVision QR code for phone viewing.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the NVR-108MH-K/8P(B)

Q.01

How many cameras can the NVR-108MH-K/8P(B) record?

Up to 8 IP cameras, connected over its eight built-in PoE ports with one cable each for power and data.
Q.02

Does it really do 12MP?

Yes. The official datasheet rates recording and decoding up to 12MP (2-ch @ 12MP or 4-ch @ 8MP), so it covers HiLook's 8MP cameras with headroom. Some listings only mention 8MP.
Q.03

Does it come with a hard drive?

No. It is supplied without a hard drive. It has one SATA bay accepting a drive up to 16TB.
Q.04

Do I need a separate PoE switch?

No, not for up to eight cameras. The eight built-in PoE ports (up to 75W total) power and connect cameras over one cable each.
Q.05

Does it do facial recognition?

Yes. As a K-series recorder it offers human face capture, comparison and search, with up to 16 face libraries holding up to 20,000 faces. The C-series does not.
Q.06

Will it work with non-HiLook cameras?

Yes. It connects to many third-party IP cameras over ONVIF and RTSP, as well as HiLook and Hikvision cameras.
Q.07

Can it output 4K video?

Yes. It has a 4K HDMI output with an independent VGA, plus two-way audio over RCA for talk-back through a compatible camera.
Q.08

How is it different from the NVR-108MH-C/8P?

This K-series model adds facial recognition and smart search, while the C-series provides basic human and vehicle motion detection only.
